Small ThingsEnjoying myself is something that I feel depends on whether or not I currently feel like it. That doesn't really make all that much sense, but I will try to explain it a different way. I can only enjoy myself if I know there isn't anything better that I should be doing. This occurs a lot due to homework and not having some sort of job. I mean, why should I be having fun when there are things that I have to take care of first?
This is not always possible as there are some situations where you have done everything you could to take care of them and all you can do is wait. Even then sometimes you can still get a nagging feeling that you shouldn't be doing something that isn't work until you know the situation is resolved.
I feel that I should be able to enjoy myself more often by not worrying about how I am going to be entertained. One way that I could do so is take entertainment out of the small things that occur everyday. We can always appreciate certain occasions that we have been anticipating for weeks or months. However, being grateful for the small things that just happen is much more difficult because we might take them for granted.
For example, I know getting up early almost every morning sucks, but I do get to see the sun rise and it looks quite nice. I do not really care too much to see bright lights because it is still morning and I am tired, but when you think about it you don't always get to see it and you should really be grateful for it. I know that example is kind of lame, so I will give another one. Whenever I see my friend Tom at breakfast I really appreciate the energy he brings to the early morning. He always makes me smile with whatever crazy thing he has to say. He isn't doing much other than being himself, but it is still something that is small that I can appreciate. One last small thing I can really appreciate is watching my twitter friends interact with each other. Sometimes they might be a tad annoying with their randomness, but sometimes they just make me smile.
Appreciating small things that happen can make you a lot more happy and then you will feel a lot more satisfied even when under stress. Just learning to take the time to see what tiny interactions are going on in the world around you can be very relaxing.
