Trailer is publicThanks to everyone who sent along positive thoughts about the Season 9 trailer and a very very big thanks to everyone who decided to Sponsor this weekend based on it. As always, we appreciate everyone who supports our work, but we hold a special place in our heart for those of you who help us in a "rent and utilities" kind of way.
As to the content of the trailer, I will say basically what I said at our PAX panel, which can be seen courtesy of Halo Waypoint here. This season we are approaching RvB as never before. In Revelation, we intermixed the animation with the in-game footage and we were very happy with the results. However, we spent a ton of time trying to match the aesthetic of the two worlds and our time is better spent in less technical areas.
So, this time around we have in-game segments and we have animated segments. Two distinct stories told against one another in two unique worlds. The trailer focuses on one of them more than the other, but that's just for sake of getting people amped up. If you look closely, you will see your favorite band of miscreants in there as well -- and in some cases, in places you didn't expect to see them.
If you've seen the trailer by now, you are probably either a sponsor, a site member or an avid fan who shows up the moment we release something. Today, the trailer goes public and the rest of the world gets a chance to see it. I hope you will help that process by throwing it a facebook Like or by tweeting about it using the hashtag #RvBSeason9.
We also need help from you in answering questions in the various comment sections from people who don't understand what they are seeing. You'll see questions from people wondering who the tan guy is, why aren't they in Blood Gulch anymore, where is Caboose, etc. Some of the general public is bound to be confused by this trailer.
There's a reason for that and it's very purposeful. I suppose we could stop our storyline and make a trailer that's very accessible to everyone in the world. Something that didn't require you to watch Out of Mind Episode 3 in order for it to make perfect sense, for instance. Certainly, that's the traditional way of doing a show that's been on the air for nine seasons. You dumb it down so everyone can watch it at any point -- but I don't write this show for the people who don't watch it. We want to make a show for all of you, the people who keep up with it week after week, year after year. The people who have come this far with us and want to go a little farther.
And we think you will like where we are going. See you this Summer.

This is why we love you guys.
Yes. That is Sean. We have never changed voice actors for any characters.
Already on it, sir. The LFTO Shizno was following the directive of "I need it done yesterday."
We spent 2 hours last night

Anyways, I can't fucking wait for this season. Been watching Red vs Blue since I was like 11. 18 now. Child to adult.
Can't wait to see more York
(And hopefully Carolina
"I don't want to write this show for the people who don't watch it" - Burnie (and all of RT), this is why we fucking love you
Can't wait. I love that you guys are approaching this in a new style. It's something different and I have no idea what to expect, making the anticipation that much unbearable.
And hell yeah, fuck it dumbing stuff down for the people who don't watch it, you wanna know what's going on you watch the damn thing!
Totally agree. Can't wait for this season.
Nice work on that 'speech', Burnie. You should write for like, some well known web-series or someth-... oh wait... :-D
AND HOW! Part of what I've always loved about RVB is that to keep up with the story you had to watch every season as well as the mini series. The side series are always great as well, like the holiday episodes and the Grifball series.
I like knowing I'm watching something that has a story to tell that will deliver week after week instead of something that might as well be a sitcom on NBC. I remember something you said in one of the commentaries from the BGC, that if you're going to introduce a plot twist you have to do it in that episode, otherwise if you draw it out people will eventually figure it out. I don't have to tell you guys that the way you tell the story has worked out awesomely.
awesome trailer - really looking forward to the direction of this season!
I just feel the need to babble on for a bit about how much I love RvB and WHY. It's not the fact that it's funny as hell, it's not because it seems to just get better as it goes along and it's not because of the characters. It's because of the people behind it. Yeah, the other stuff plays a huge part in it, duh, but the creators more so than anything. The fact that you guys at Rooster Teeth are just so involved in the community and with your fans is just amazing. I mean, how many people watch a movie, or a TV show, or a cartoon and actually THINK about the people behind it?
I honestly cannot think of anything in any other form of media that has wriggled it's way into my heart as much as RvB and the guys at Rooster Teeth. I mean, I have such a profound respect for everyone on the project, but Burnie especially. He really inspires me, and honestly I feel like the guy is a genius. I consider myself a pretty funny guy, but I just can't fathom how he can sit down every year for eight years and consistently come up with the stuff he does. And then once the Blood Gulch Chronicles started coming to an end and Recon started and we started getting more of an in-depth plot to go along with the slapstick humor?
It literally blows my mind when I think about it. If I can be just half as good as Burnie is as this kind of stuff, then I'd feel awesome.
So yeah, I'm looking forward to the next season! I'll be fucking great to have something to look forward to in what I know is gonna be another hot-as-balls summer. I'm especially excited for the Freelancer backstory. Mmm, Washington. <3
