OUR MAJOR ROAD TRIP
?I was walking down the hill, when I heard a roar of thunder coming from behind me. I ran while my life flashed before me??
Chris- the Chirpy Burpy Sheep

The skies were a light colour of grey on the morning of the 21st of June. It was 8:30 and I was feeling the effects of being up until 3 after celebrating the end of my exams with my mates from school. As I was leaving my mum to work, the telephone rings?.

Ian: Hello?

Daly: Where are you?

Ian: Daly, have I ever let you down before?

Daly: No?

Ian: I?ll be with you in 10minute!

The telephone call had come from my sidekick, John Daly. John up at 8:30? Ian able to drive after a mere 5hours sleep? There was something special about that day? After leaving my mother to her workplace, Betsy drove to the residence of Garbhan Kerr. With a quick bamp of the horn, ?Big G? appeared in the door way and gave a nod to show that he was ready for whatever the day held?

Ian and ?Big G? made for the house of John Daly, the side kick who had been waiting approximately 8minutes for his two team members. It was like the blink of an eye when the black KA roared her horn, and Daly had entered the vehicle ready for the Road Trip of Road Trips?

Daly: Let?s roll!!

The destination was Cookstown, to meet our legendary ex-music teacher, Plunkett McGartland. I had received a text message which provided the directions to the destination- ?Make for Belfast, turn for Maghera and follow the signs for Cookstown?? The journey had begun, with the theme from the Matrix playing on the stereo followed by Banana Phone to wake us all properly?

Naturally the inevitable happened?we missed the turn? The turn had said ?Magherafelt? which was not ?Maghera? as the text message had stated. How and ever, Daly was of the opinion that that was our exit? We drove past- only to find that we were on the motorway to Belfast!!! Da Da Daaaaa?

Big G: Take the nearest exit!

Ian: Ok, ok, ok? (*thinks* James Bond wouldn?t put up with this shite!)

Daly: It says that Cookstown is 32miles back that direction

Ian: Shut up Daly, we?re taking the scenic route?.

We took the nearest exit and aimed to get to the opposite lanes of the motor way. The signs mentioned Portglenoan which I thought sounded quite the nice place?but we were running out of time! We turned round a round about?and more inevitable happened?yes I took a bloody wrong turn? There was a semi-emergency stop and a Lorry was very upset and narrowly missed us as he continued around the round-about.

With the aid of a very nice hand-break turn, and wheel spin galore, we were back on track, and were coming off the motorway we had entered only 2minutes previously! We took the turn which Daly had originally told us to take and we were back on course?.

We arrived at our destination and were on main street! But there was no sign of the school? Was there even a school? Did these red necks have a school building or were we looking for some corner of a field with many a child?

Ian: Holy Trinity College?

Random Woman: Past the second set of lights and on your right?

Vroooooommmmmmm. We sped on to the school, and hurrah we had arrived! We met up with our legendary teacher, met Peter Canavan the gaelic player, saw his new (but aged) classroom and went for lunch to a nice little bar. I ate pork roast, spuds, cauliflower and had a glass of coke and water?

We spoke of times which had passed and by one o clock we decided to hit the road once again! Plunkett informed us of a road which ran a course to Derry, but shaving 20 minutes of the time?He said it was an extremely dangerous road, which narrows and had claimed the lives of many throughout the years... The road ran through the mountains where no mobile would pick up a signal? Daly looked bewildered, Big G looked fearful, Ian was turned on (not in the literal sense!) by the sound of fast winding roads and high speeds?.MUHAHAHAHAH

We hit the road and where soon on the road which the Plunkett had informed us about. At first the road did not seem as bad as it had been described. We drove through a series of bends beside a large lake. Betsy performed amazingly, with shifts from 2nd to 3rd gear throughout and she stuck well to the road?

We hit the true rally roads 5minutes after?the IPOD was playing the theme from Batman Begins?Betsy had been transformed into the tumbler?Ian was Batman, John was Robin and Big G was Commissioner Gordon all out for a good razzin session?

Yet again, inevitable happened. We took a left turn and feared for our lives as the road was named something forgettable. Luckily a red neck came to our aid and told us to take the opposite road and ?keep ?er lit!?

As we drove through the final little town, we came to the road which would lead us to Dungiven! My God! The road was unbelievable, like seriously quick and filled with sheep. As we sped through the countryside we nearly hit a sheep- Chris- the Chirpy Burpy Sheep! The car flew, and did turn into the Tumbler as she went over crests, through chicanes and game to a stop just short of the bridge?.

It is difficult to sum up in words, how unbelievable the experience was of driving that road- it is quite possibly my favouritist road in the world. I would like to say a huge thanks to Daly and Garbhan who sat on board and made the trip even more enjoyable- and there will be plenty more like it in the summer!!!!
