Greg;s GemsRules of Work
1) A pat on the back is only a few centimeters from a kick in the pants
2) If at first you don' succeed, try again. Then quit. No use being a damn fool about it
3) When you don't know what to do, walk fast and look worried.
Enough about that. I've picked up a few new games - It cost me an arm and a leg and I'm sorry but noone is getting gifts this year. So I got Gears of War, Marvel Ultimate Alliance, Lego Star Wars and Splinter Cell Double Agent. I like them all, they are so good and all so different.
Gears of War-M rated - is an amazing game about predominantly humanoid bugs that come up from below ground and kick the shit out of the humans and now one of the few survivors you fight back. This game games piece de resistance is its COOP mode. I haven't really tried in online, but having people over and playing this game is amazing. The story is strong but the gameplay calls for flanking and manuvering (Sp) that makes you feel like a god when you get some poor suckers in a crossfire. The multiplayer is excellent employing the five D's of Dodgeball in ways that have never been done in multiplayer before. My only gripe is that some weapons are crazy powered and therefore camped like no tomorrow, which can make games really really frustrating.
Marvel Ultimate Alliance - T rated - is marvel super heroes kicking marvel supervillains ass in a X-men legends sort of way. Graphics aren't fantastic but playing co-op with 4 friends is a lot of fun. Primarily I play in a team consisting of Spider-man, Iceman, Deadpool, and Wolverine with Captain America, Iron Man and Ghost Rider as alternates. The game has a lot of cool features but doesn't seem to have much a replay value and is in short the only game I regret buying instead of renting.
Lego Star Wars - E10 rated - is Lego characters from the Star Wars movie act out the first three movies in an entirely lego world. The cut scenes are funny and the gameplay is easy - the game is made for like 8 year olds (The instruction booklet has a page explaining to a grown up how to play co-op with their kids). But it is so much FUN. I can't stop playing. I've got a hundred percent completion and I'm still going. Playing co-op just adds so much, making the game one of the best games I've played. Simple things amuse simple minds I guess.
Splinter Cell Double Agent - M rated - Sam returns this time as a cover agent trying to destroy a home grown terrorrist cell known as the JBA from within. I haven't played much single player to be completely honest. The multiplayer is just way too much fun. Spies vs Mercs is back in 3 vs 3 format and alot simpler making it much more available to the average gamer (aka me). Its faster than the last version as well making it more interesting to play as well. The object of SC-DA mulitplayer is either download data from one of the four computer terminals or protect the terminals from being hacked. Its hard to explain the enjoyment you can get while performing some crazy acrobatic move to snap a mercs neck or to sneak away or even to kill some poor spy by sniping him in the head or exploding your remote controlled drone right on top of him. But to make it simple its fun, Try it.
