Holy shit, where do I start?
So, I've been gone for about 2-4 years, depending on how you count. A lot has changed since then.
I am now more or less on my fourth computer since joining the RvB community.
#1 Old & Dead.
#2 Dead due to defective parts. (More below.)
#3 Ancient desktop backup that wouldn't play games. Now retired. Again.
#4 Shiny brand new replacement laptop.
Let me elaborate. While I was in Kuwait a while back, I got a laptop for Christmas. About a year after I got back, the laptop went belly up. Turns out that I wasn't the only one. The GPU from Nvidia was bad. Known to be defective and they did nothing about it. They got sued. Taken to court as a class action consumer protection suit in California. I don't know much about law, but you DON'T fuck with consumer protection in CA. Nvidia settled out of court and the particular class in the suit I was in netted me a free replacement laptop. I was initially wary of the specs, but this thing performs admirably. Better than the dog of a paperweight it replaced.
So it turns out that this thing will run Halo 2 for PC. I happen to have a MS Live ID courtesy of the Zune Market place and Halo 2 PC uses MS live. So there it is, in the lower left. My Gamer Tag. I am AnotherRedShirt on Live, but I still don't have an Xbox. Go figure.
Playing Halo 2 PC has made me miss coming here and with the new season, I decided to come back.
What else? Lost my job about 1 1/2 years ago. Replaced it with two part time jobs. Lost one of those tonight. Did a phone interview for a new one the other day, a salaried management position. Fingers crossed on that.
Also still crossing my fingers for that super-duper lotto ticket. Going to get my wife that divorce she always wanted.
My daughter is almost 10 now. She is already better at video games than I am and I am pretty sure she is smarter than me too. (She once asked me to join her in playing Super Smash Bros, and she said "Don't worry Daddy, I'll go easy on you.")
Taking anti-depressants now and getting medically retired from the Reserves soon.
Being back on meds is awesome. I just don't really give a shit anymore. Nothing bothers me the way things used to.
