I can't believe the comments of people who are like "I voted for Trump but that doesn't mean I stand for his sexism and racism etc. I don't like to be told I'm helping normalise what he says, I don't think he'll do what he said he would."

First off, if you don't agree with what he says, why would you vote for him? Like, if you were with someone who said "I want to grab that woman by the pussy" and you said nothing? That person will think you agree, and that it's okay for them to do that. Because you didn't say "Dude, shut up that's gross."

Trump went on TV that broadcast internationally and said all those hateful things. He said he wanted extreme vetting, to deport immigrants, to build a wall. His VP believes that torturing children mentally will make them straight. That's what conversion therapy is, it's child abuse and torture.

Not to mention Trump has sexually assaulted multiple women and teenage girls.

You voted for a man who would sexually assault women, believes Mexicans are rapists and all Muslims are terrorists. If you disagree with his viewpoints and what he stands for, why would you vote for him?

Hillary was an angel but she sure as shit was better than Trump.

People like to talk about how she "let a rapist go free", as if it weren't her job as a lawyer. As if she didn't ask to be assigned to a different case and was denied. She was forced to do her job. People like to ignore that she believed in abolishing child marriages in Eastern countries.

And, Americans like to believe the election won't affect anyone else, and it's not my place, as a non-American to say anything. But you forget that American politics literally affects to rest of the world.

Trump basically allying with Russia will affect me, as a European. It will affect us all.

Not to mention Russia hacked the election anyway, and that Trump lost the popular vote more than anyone else has, yet still somehow won.

Trump's presidency will be a disaster worldwide, and I can only hope we make it through it.

It's moments like these that I realize I've said fuck many times. It is really dark time for America and I've cussed at a lot of those right wing people. Almost every state voted Democrat if it was based on students alone and it is us who will suffer the most as the younger generation just, so the older generation can have it their way.

I agree, the best thing that you can do is stand up against any injustice. The picture of the guys offering to walk people, remind me of a group of students who formed a human wall/circle (students, teachers, etc. facing away to campus) to protect Muslim students during their prayer.

Matt, you talk about comments hurting people yet allowing rapist free and wanting an open war with Russia is worse then just simple comments? have you actually watched anything he's said or done? 10,000 jobs brought from Japan to American... he's not even president yet, what the fuck has Hillary done for America? Accept money from Saudi Arabia? A country that openly abuses women? Trumps comments are nothing when Hillary allows the abuse and rape of women to happen and slides it under the table, she is nothing but a snake and a sexist.

I completely agree with you. I love ROoster Teeth and all of the people here and I will always do so, RT is my family. But it's painful to listen to people who believe so much of what they hear when most of it is generalized and biased. It's painful to see something you love be misguided or given misinformation. I don't believe Trump is any of those things, tho he has said some stupid shit. And even if he was, he's at least smart enough to not act on those things. The government wont stand for slaughter or deportation of innocent, legal citizens of our country, and neither will the people of the US.

As someone who couldn't have voted (Canadian), and supported Donald on a small Scale leading up to the election, I find this conversation very interesting and I do agree with many of your points, especially made by Mariel. At the beginning I leaned toward Bernie, and I agreed on many of his points, I would consider myself Liberal, but when Bernie was knocked out via Bullshit, I just couldn't get behind Hillary, She was just to different from what I wanted in a US Pres.

Side note: When I hear that Mica is getting called a "Nigger" on the street in broad daylight it fucking angers me. Like, what gives them the right to put down another person. Idek I guess i'm just to nice to understand some Americans.

    1. Mariel is a goddess in this episode, please keep shitting on the Democratic Party. They're basically useless as a political entity and will continue to be so. Left-leaning independent here, and the only reason I don't hate Democrats as much as I hate Republicans is because Republicans are basically just Nazis at this point.

    2. Also, Mica is a goddess in this episode. Full agreement: Trump is bad. If you voted for Trump you voted for what he represents. So whether you want to acknowledge it or not if you voted for Trump you voted for the world that we're going to be stuck with. You are fine with it. You made this possible. Therefore, if you voted for Trump you are a bad person. I'm not sorry if that makes you uncomfortable to hear. Boo-fucking-hoo if that dose of reality hurts your feelings, since you voted for a fascist. You voted against the health and safety of millions because you're a cowardly piece of shit who lowers the net value of humanity. So since I'm a large white guy and basically immune from consequences in this sort of thing I'm going to keep denigrating you. Because you deserve it.

I'm basically unaffected by a Trump presidency but I have friends and family who are. So yeah I'm mad. Donated to the ACLU as a starting point. But remember: love does not trump hate. Hate wins. Hate won. This is going to get ugly.

And oh, Barb. I wish I agreed that we'd have elections again. That's not going to happen. I'm as certain of that as I was certain from day one that Trump would be President. America is fucking done, and it won't be mourned by the rest of the world, they'll just breathe a sight of relief the metaphorical alcoholic, gun-nut grope-y uncle won't be at Thanksgiving anymore.

That was a rough post, I'm still livid even after these few weeks. So if you want a silver lining to cleanse the mental palate, some minuscule good that came of this is my best friend and I realized life is (and is going to become) far too short for petty crap and reconciled after a bad fight.

But Hillary would of started a nuclear war with Russia... sooo your aware that the world would be fucked? Women can do better then Hillary, do not vote by identity but by what they say. To vote Hillary is to vote in a sexist, racist woman into office who is a known to fight for rapists to walk the street. If you voted Hillary you are worse then any Trump Supporter. I'm sorry if your a coward and a piece of shit, but you represent what is wrong with America and what has made America shit. Democrats have brought America to failure and Hillary represented the end of that failure, death and hatred. I am glad I do not live in a shit hole like America where it's full of people who don't know what they are doing being told they have degrees that automatically says they do, Hillary does not know how to deal with the world, she is a sheltered twat. Finally Europe and America can actually start fixing shit instead of pushing themselves away. If you are a Hillary supporter, you are a horrid fucking person and I really hope you change your ways because your ideas hurt black, hispanic and asian minorities and hurt women. You sexist piece of shit.

First I believe the description on the piece isn't a conversation, it's an attack on anyone whom doesn't agree with the democratic party.  Assuming you be leave Forbes is a reputable press this link shows some of the reports are false reports that attacks aren't one sided.  Third claiming that the United States is going the way of Nazi Germany is incorrect and extremely racist in it's self.

The problem I have with this is that they have all decided to look at this from an emotional level and have failed to look at the facts. They almost immediately went to the Hitler comparison, which is such a weak argument. The majority of documented crimes being committed are being committed against Trump supporters. Adults and teens are being beaten, their homes are being burned and vandalized. I'm not looking to argue but there have been over 100 fake hate crimes committed in the last 10 years, all of which are designed to perpetuate a victim culture. The majority of the "Day 1 in Trump's America" stories are BS and have been proved false. You can mod this into the negatives all you want, it doesn't change the facts.

Unfortunatly Trumps brand of fear mongering politics isnt just isolated to the US, Australia had its own elections this year, and while we are significantly better off and our streets far safer we have had an increased section of the populace voicing anit-muslim anti-lgbt sentiments, leading to the election of Pauline Hanson in our senate, a woman who runs in the same brand of facism as Trump.

As a history student ive recognised a few trends throughout history, one thats been yet again repeated, that when the people are unhappy with the moderate government parties they turn to extreameist views to fix their problems. Germany did this with the Nazi's and the USSR did it with communism.

Barbara pointed out that over 50's wouldnt have voted for burnie because of the association of socialism with communism, obliviously its been too long since 1930 for people to associate facism with facism.

also we need to make #Empathy a thing.

So first off, kudos for using this platform for expressing your views - I think everyone here agrees this was the bets way RT could have handled it.

I was going to write something long winded about Brexit parallels since being from the UK that's more in my knowledge base, but honestly I just deleted it all to write this: understanding and compassion is a two way street. Now there are 100% extremists that are clearly making many people feel unsafe and unwelcome, and that's completely wrong - you can have an opinion but when it starts adversely affecting others you can go to hell. But at the same time, once the initial smoke has settled, I just hope that people from both sides can sit and explain why they feel the way they do, because despite how it may look and feel right now, it's never just a case of one or the other. Most people will have been influenced by many factors, and (as far as I can tell since I'm not American) there were lots of other things to vote for besides - you very likely have common ground on some smaller issues, as hard as it might be to believe right now. Use these as a springboard to find more common ground. Shouting and telling the other side they're stupid and wrong won't convince them to your way of thinking, even if you are right. Right now it may be hard, and I suspect there's many people (a few I reckon on that there yellow sofa!) that would love to give the 'opposition' a piece of their mind. But it's exactly this us vs them mentality that has got us where we are today. It's why wars happen, it's created Brexit and more this side of the pond and Trump and more in the US, and I wouldn't be surprised to see more examples. But this is a poisonous mentality, and if we're truly going to get past it and calm things down and help everyone feel safe, it's got to start with trying to understand others views, as painful as it is. You can listen and decide you disagree, and that's fine, but unless you are the best example you can be what reason do you give others to agree with you.

I digressed a lot there, and I hope I didn't totally lose my point that despite all of this insecurity and worry right now, all it needs from everyone is to try to remain peaceful, civil, and proactive to work towards a common goal - sulking and watching the world spin around you won't work. And if certain people decide not to follow that mentality, so be it - you be the better example, and don't rise to it. That photo of the guys offering to walk with people who felt unsafe is a perfect example: public display of unity to help people feel safer and demonstrating what they stand for.

To everyone who feels unsafe post Brexit and post US election: stay calm, stay positive, and just be the best you to inspire others. And if worst comes to worst and you need people to talk to and escape the 'horrors' of the real world, well, there's a whole RT community ready to support you <3

Why is there still so much hate against Hillary? She's been attacked ever since she stepped into the public eye as Bill Clinton's wife when he was the governor of Arkansas. Remember when the worst thing about her was that she was a pro war hawk? This is just plain sexism. Demonising someone who is no better or worse than the male politicians? Her presidency would have brought child and family care reform and wouldn't have threatened reproductive rights. This was a huge blow for women's equality. Instead of leaping forward and closing the income gap because of affordable child care, women will continue the slow fight for true social equality.

There is hate against Hillary because people feel she is dishonest and disingenuous, at least Trump said what is in that old crazy head of his. Also I don't think sexism is the reason she lost, unfortunately  there were people who voted against her for that reason, when a lot of women didn't vote for her because they didn't want HER to be the first female president.

I think a really important thing to remember about this election is that both candidates were horrendous. On one side there is a dishonest lawbreaker who has a rapist as a husband, and the other has a dishonest and xenophobic person, with a wife who would be irrelevant in office. Getting mad a an individual who picked "the wrong" candidate is absurd because both of them are terrible people.

One other thing, by saying "All Trump/Hillary" support one thing is like saying all muslims are violent or everyone from the south is racist. Yes there will always be extremists, however, if we let them define a group of people then our country will continue to be divided ( something that is very evident as a result of this election).

I didn't vote in this election, because I am to young, and I really don't know who I would have voted for because I dislike both of them as people. If we are going to get frustrated at a group of people, it shouldn't be the people who don't think the same as, us it should be the 42%(ish)  of the country who didn't vote. Again I don't know who I would have voted for, but I definitely would have voted, whether that means just voting for my party and hoping for the best or trying to go with who I think is a better person/leader even if they don't have a chance at winning.

Guys this was a brutal choice, a lose lose situation, as a country we need to work through it together. I disagree with my friends about political issues, but I don't let that ruin our relationship, we need to realize everyone has their reasons for voting a certain way and we need to accept differing opinions.

Both candidates were shit, been saying from that start, but I've noticed that RT has really been shitting on Trump and his supporters without saying anything about Clinton's horrifying wrongdoings. I think this is the first podcast I've seen where they just casually admit that the DNC rigged the primaries. There was a hell of a lot more going on than that, I mean did you guys even read her emails? And then you talk about being educated but you're writing thank you letters to the most corrupt politician in US history? The same person who started all this shit in Syria, the person who's husband brought back racism in full force with the war on drugs, who's funded by some of the most corrupt corporations on the planet, who uses her own charity's money to fund her daughter's wedding, the same person who anyone who tries testifying against her mysteriously commits suicide by multiple gunshots to the back of the head. Several people who have committed the same crimes as her in regards to her leaking of information, have had their lives destroyed, but because she's Hillary, she gets to walk free? She gets thank you cards? I didn't vote for Trump, but have you considered that maybe people were just sick of this shit? Sick of this corruption thats been going on for the past 35 years? Trump is certainly a piece of shit, but I think this country needed this kind of rude awakening, so people can finally get off their complacent asses and fix it.

They also kept talking about how when Trump was elected they stopped feeling safe, how a lot of people were scared and angry. Mica brought up racial attacks and hate speech online by the more extreme of the Trump supporters. Nobody seems to care about the riots going on, about the attacks on Trump supporters and the property damage that a lot of Hillary supporters are doing.

I voted for Trump because I was sick of corruption, I could not allow myself to support Hillary. I voted for who I felt was the lesser of two evils (because they were both shit candidates, you're right). My dad asked me to stay home from college for the week following the election because he was afraid of what might happen to me if I stepped foot in Portland, were I go to college and were so many non-peaceful protests were taking place. So guess what, I don't feel safe either. As a middle-class white woman, I'm afraid too. Not necessarily of the president, not of Hillary Clinton, but of the people who support her.

Too many people look at just the one perspective. They have the one candidate that is their lesser evil and they only see the hate coming from that other side. Too many people don't realize that everybody is afraid.

    First off, love the show.

I'd never really considered the idea that while people who aren't racists and homophobes voted for Trump, they did decide that those things weren't deal-breakers and normalized those stances in the process. And I knew to some extent, but apparently not fully, that it's not the administration or the government the minority groups are most worried about, it's his supporters. So thanks for opening my eyes to that.

Additionally I like this idea of empathy, where we all need to try to understand where one another is coming from so that we can try to work to put us all on the best path. But that means that you actually do need to go out and talk to people that you know (and maybe don't know) and have those uncomfortable conversations, and be civil about it. So I'll disagree with Barb on that last bit, I'm not sorry if I offend someone. That's their fault for having thin skin. But I'm only not sorry as long as I know that I wasn't being an asshole about it. People need to be able to hear what other people have to say, and not "get offended" and shut down and get defensive. They need to be open to new ideas that may contradict their own, and be willing to take a hard look at their views.

    Cheers!

You ladies are so genuine and well spoken with your concerns and fears and I agree with you on every point

Even as a Queer person in England I'm scared of what will happen, not because of Trump, he's a piece of shit but he can't exactly directly do THAT much

But of his followers, who feel justified, untouchable and right, most of whom are armed and dangerous, some of which have just been looking for an excuse

I'm with you and everyone else as much as I can be from where I am

So ya, i have been like totally confused for the past week since the election. I honestly don't understand why people are getting scared or are afraid of being deported and all. Like everyone is freaking out bc we have some crazy wako for president and they think its going to change how they live their lives. But in all reality i dont think it will. It is 2016,and Their are still 3 different parts of the government, that are all equally powerful and are made with checks and balances so that not one of them can become too powerful. The president is in the executive part of the government. And the Legislative is the part of the government that creates and passes laws for the US. The most power the President directly has is, controling the military and vetoing laws (that can be overruled by a 2/3 vote by Congress). Just bc now we have a very outspoken person in President Elect, does not turn him into some dictator where every word he says goes directly into law. The president (nor anyone else in government) cannot make any major life altering decisions for Americans, without the agreement of Congress. And on top of that. No law can or will go into effect until after the Judicial branch says that it is agreement with the Constitution (including the bill or rights, which protects the people from a dictator like government).

So unless the majority of the legislative and judicial branch are exactly like trump and think and agree with everything he says, noone is fucked and people just need to calm the fuck down.

so what im saying is that our president (or any other political leader) can stand up and say anything they want, but that doesn't mean it will auto come true. SO WHY IS EVERYBODY THINKING(OR AFRAID) THAT JUST BC SOME DUMBASS SAYS SOMETHING THAT IT'S GOING TO HAPPEN??? please like legut if anyone has any answer to my question please let me know. I dont understand.

(this is coming form a 19yr old dude that has never cared about politics (and still doesn't) till this year bc before this year noone but old people cared bc it rarely effects people directly.) thanks for any reply.

Well like the girls said, it's not necessarily they government they're worried about, it's the supporters who now feel justified in vilifying and dehumanizing other groups of people just because they might look different than them. But more to your point, the congress and the house are both a Republican majority, which Trump supporters are which means the representatives in that party are more likely to align with their constituents views. And during Trump's time there is a strong likelihood he will be able to appoint more than one supreme court justice. Much like in hockey this a power play, where Republicans have the numbers in all three branches. Now more than ever the Republican party has the opportunity to push things through. Will they? Maybe, maybe not. Only time will tell.

Most of the government is republican.  Also, he will have control over at least one supreme court justice's nomination, probably more.  Also, the president can make an Executive Order.  These allow them to essentially do something without permission from Congress.  One more thing: the president can launch an attack on a foreign nation and not inform congress for 48 hours and can keep the army engaged for 60 days (plus 30 days for extraction).  This could allow the president to start a conflict that may escalate to the point of no return.  An example of this is the Korean war which was never even authorized by congress. So the president can do some damage all alone. Also, there are a lot of social issues associated with this election, and our president is often seen as a role model.  Donald Trump should, under no circumstances, be a role model for our youth, or anyone at all.

This is why i chose not to vote. I would be forced to make a choice between one evil and another. were not matter what i picked I would lose because my friends would see it as me believing everything they stood for, or as mica put it i would "normalizing it". what kind of choice is that? were the ones i cared about would hate me because one simply promised more of the things i wanted then the other despite the fact i greatly disliked them both?

its one i refuse to make. i will not let some sneaky old woman hiding behind feminism, and an old racist bigot whos never known real struggle in his life decide what i stand for. i will decide what kind of man i am and what i believe in. if you wish to denounce me as a friend because i will not chose between two people i cant trust to lead us then so be it. Just know that no matter who you or i supported i would have seen YOU as far more important. i would stand against any and all that would do you harm. i would be there for you and assure you it would be okay because thats the kind of man i am, nether trump nor Hilary will ever change that.

i stand against sexism, racism, rape, all of it because its wrong, i dont care what trump says, that walking hairpiece works for us, and those of his supporters who think those things are okay are gonna realize that the future is not on their side so long as the rest of us stand together and show them that there is nothing that fuck head can do to us that we wont over come. we will brace and return what ever they throw at us, thats who were are, and thats who i chose to be.

I respect that you did not want to vote for president because you disagreed with the presidential candidates, but I just can't get not voting at all. The ballot isn't just presidential candidates, it's voting for your senator, congressmen, local police chiefs etc. People who can enact real change (or stop a President you don't like from enacting terrible policies). Some of this change will be on a local level, yes, but the local level effects you, possibly even more than federally in some cases. There's also referendums on a wide range of issues that make the ballot as well, things you could have helped change if you'd voted. Please look into down ballot voting before the next election, those issues need your voice too.

Around 50% of the US population did not vote. Imagine if that 50%, including you, were to vote third party. As @nevermindthenight said, there is a lot more than just the Presidential candidates on the ballot. In my state, we had tax addenda, amendments to the state Constitution, congressmen and women, and senators. Not voting is one of the worst things you can do. You have a civic duty to vote, and there are more options than just the two primary political parties.

"Hiding behind feminism?"  Dude come on.  She got so much bullshit because of her gender.  You know slogans like "Hillary sucks, but not like Monica?"  You don't see a problem with that?  Another thing: she was constantly associated with her husband's scandals.  And people blamed her for "not being able to keep her home together."  To act like sexism was not a factor in this election is ignorant in my opinion.

I'm mad that Trump got elected, I'm mad in general about the 2016 election aka "I thought I wanted it to be over but now that it's over I wish it was still going on because turns out the ending is even worse twenty fucking sixteen"(-John Oliver) I am going to hope something great happens so it becomes not as bad as it is already. And I hope people become more and more intelligent to realize that Trump made the election a sexist, racist, etc reality show. Written, Directed, and starred in by Donald J Trump.

I'm glad I decided to watch this still open. It was so on point imo. They pointed out all the bad things of both sides but I am glad someone finally said what it means what a trump appointment really means for the country and for most Americans.  Although I am definitely going to say these guys are a lot angrier than I am with the election. Its good that they are getting their anger out.

The main problem I had with this video is that you did not even mention the extremest on the other end of the political spectrum. The people saying "Kill all white men" did not even get an acknowledgement. I never thought for a second that the majority of Democratic voters were like that, but if you are going to spend time ragging on one sides extremists (that you have every right to do) you should at least acknowledge your own. Blaming it all on fear isn't enough. Not that it even happened. I will always be against bigotry. Simple as. It doesn't matter if the person spewing hate shares views with me, I will not support them. I think it is terrible that the extremists from the right are acting like this, and people should not feel afraid to go outside. I just wish you would have at least given fair representation of the people who took part in the election.

I'm more than ok with having opinion related shows though. This isn't news. It's good to see people being enthusiastic about politics, I just wish it could have been at a better time. You mentioned that people who voted Trump have now normalised bigotry. Far from. There is far more footage of Trump voters having calm discourse with people with opposing views than there is of Trump voters acting in a racist way. There is a lot of misinformation being spread about Trump, and what he has said/supports.

He never said all Mexicans are rapists: "Thank you. It’s true, and these are the best and the finest. When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best. They’re not sending you. They’re not sending you. They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people."

He never said that all Muslims are terrorists: "suspend immigration from areas of the world when there is a proven history of terrorism against the United States, Europe, or our allies."

I do not fully agree with what he has said in the past, but spreading misinformation is not helping anyone. Though it is fair to complain about his use of language towards women with his famous "grab 'em by the Pu$$y" comment. You know what happened after that? He had a large drop of support from people who wanted to vote for him. It was a rude and distasteful comment. No argument about that. If his supporters were as bad as people say, there would not have been any backlash from the right.

Ignoring all of that, I enjoyed the video. It is nice to see people having an intelligent conversation (even when Mica gets a bit erratic at times :)) and I hope this may help Rooster Teeth feel a bit more open about talking about politics when it calls for it.

I'm a white male in Dallas, Texas, which may or may not create some sort of bias, but I haven't once heard "Kill all white males." On the other hand, I have heard constant racial slurs from people I thought I knew, and this is because they too feel emboldened to be bigoted after the election. What you're talking about wouldn't have become prominent regardless of any election results.

I was just about to write a long-winded response to this video until I came across your own. I cannot agree more with everything that you said.  I, myself, am a moderate Conservative, which may immediately trigger some people to not want to read what I have to say or to instantly disagree.  However, I am very open to others and their beliefs/practices, be it religion, sexuality, gender-identity, etc.  Whether I agree or not with someone is besides the point, but I think that one of the most important things that everyone in America needs to learn how to do is to become more open and understanding.  As I said earlier, it is not necessarily about agreement persay, but about listening to and acknowledging what those who both do and do not share your own views.  I personally disagreed with a lot of things mentioned in this video and I have my own reasons for doing so.  There were also some relevant points mentioned that I did agree with too.  I realize the members of RT, specifically on this episode or Always Open, are Liberal, which is not a problem, but the main point that they repeatedly brought up is what I do have an issue with: fear.  I recognize that many people have been and still are scared for themselves and their loved one due to potential future political actions.  There is reason for those people to be scared, however, there are also many reasons why they have no reason to be scared.  As earlier mentioned, one of the main factors of this "fear epidemic" is due to potential political actions that may deport some people, strip them of certain rights, allow mistreatment of them, etc.  No political actions have been taken yet as he is not in office until January 20, 2017.  Furthermore, the United States government is structured in such a way that radical and ridiculous ideas do not become reality.  Just because Trump (or any person of office for that matter) says they want to do something does not mean they are going to.  Assuming that they do pursue their statement and attempt to make whatever change they wish for take effect, it has to pass through the rest of the government.  This is simple sh!t at this point.  We have a system of "checks and balances" and a government divided into three distinct and separate branches, called the "separation of powers".  I could go further as to explain how a bill becomes a law and how hte POTUS can veto certain things and Congress can even override the veto and so on.  There are a lot of very specific ways that our government handles things, making changes, especially big ones like taking rights away from people and choosing to close our borders but only for certain people, etc.  The bottom line is that just because Donald Trump was elected president does not mean that he is now the king or tyrant of the U.S.  He can try and act like it if he so pleases, but that will make no difference.  If you want evidence/proof of the American government functioning this way to prevent radical actions and ensure that we don't commit metaphorical suicide as a nation, just look up presidential history.  Assuming that you are 16 years of age or older and were educated in the U.S., you should already know all of this as it is taught in school in history and english classes.  I have no doubt that people younger than 16 and even foreign children and adults know so much or possibly more as I am aware that the American education system is not something our country is proud of, but that's another topic for another day.  My point in establishing that most people having political debates should know this basic information is that if they truly were aware of that basic info., then a lot of the arguments being held would not take place.  Many arguments are had with neither end having sufficient, or any decent amount, civic literacy.  If you are going to complain, argue, and campaign about politics, you should know damn well what it is you are actually talking about and rooting for.  Sure, everyone has the right to argue and whatnot, regardless of the extent of their political or overall knowledge, but it sure is pointless and idiotic if they lack a decent amount of it.  I say this because easily over half of the voting population of America falls into this category.  I don't think any specific demographic is largely resposible for it either.  It seems to be fairly equal among men, women, gays, blacks, latinos, heteros, etc.  This is yet another dire issue that Americans (and humans as a whole) have.  They love to blame things on others, whether it truly is another party's fault or not.  I am aware that the previous statement may sound very hypocritical as that is what I am doing, but I am simply giving my personal opinion/repsonse to this Still Open episode as well as trying to educate others out there, even though there will probably be less than five people who will read this due to its length and the location of the post on the RT site.  Anyway, I have said a lot at this point and my train of thought has slightly derailed now, but I think I have said enough.  It was not my intent to offend anyone, and the content of this post should not do so.  In fact, if you are offended by reading this, please let me know by what part and why because I am appalled by how "offended" people, mostly millennials, get these days.  I myself am a millennial too, so I am quite familiar with what my generation is like when it comes down to it.  If you made it this far in my extremely long post, congratulations!  I hope you to have your own opinions, as you should, and that you share them with others.  Insight is a wonderous thing, which is the main reason I chose to watch this video in the first place.  I knew that they would not share the same views as me, for the most part, yet I watched the whole thing because I was still thoroughly interested in what their specific views were and the reasoning behind them.  I hope for the best for you, America, and the world in the future to come.  I do not think that our country will suffer nearly as much as the media and some citizens are depicting it to be, but I guess we will see. P.S. Mica got way too triggered in this video, but she is also quite younger and more naive than the rest.   P.P.S. I personally did not support Trump and he was not my first choice, but I did favor him over Hillary.  This should not change anyone's opinions on what I wrote above, but I had a feeling that any readers may be curious, so there you go.

TL;DR-Things won't be as terrible as everyone is making it out to be.  Keep an open mind, stay educated, and understand what's happening around you.  Regardless of your individual beliefs and preferences, treat everyone will equal respect and worth. burnie

      Another riveting link:

People who are angry at white people and white men in particular probably are because of the extreme suffering many of our ancestors have caused them whereas most white people are angry at others for no real reason. I'm a white guy.  You need to have some thicker skin than that.  Minorities and woman have been through so, so, so much worse.  And honestly, white men have been the problem for centuries.  You should be able to deal with people finally acknowledging and trying to change that.

I had noticed before that RT purposefully distanced itself from politics as an entertainment production company. This has been a respectable decision and a wise one. However, I applaud the decision to use this venue, a video for subscribers and members of the RT community as a way to address what is happening in our country. As Barbara, Chelsea, Mica, and Mariel emphasized, not only empathy and passive expressions of dissatisfaction are necessary, but concrete action, such as publicly condemning acts of prejudice, contacting your local congressmen, or donating to organizations that will come under fire with this new administration, such as Planned Parenthood. Staying true to this message, I see the production of this video as a simple, but concrete action that RT has taken and I respect this company and people involved all the more because of it.

The entire election has been hilarious. I laughed like crazy when trump was announced as the president elect. However the actions done by the anti trump side and his supporters are terrifying. The protests occurring across the country are not helping. They are so angry that they cannot foresee the consequences of their actions. People demanding the electoral college changed their vote because they didn't get what they wanted. I never knew that democracy only works when the person you wanted wins. Do the protestors actually believe that they can get the electoral vote changed by throwing a temper tantrum. As for trump supporters, i know that you feel like you won a big battle and you did but now its time to grow up. As for everyone else bitching and moaning, its time to put on your big boy pants and set and example for the future because it's very clear to me that both sides don't represent a good portion of the population. We are the ones who are going to pick up the pieces of this mess that both sides created. I know you are looking for someone to blame for trump winning but the only thing you can blame is the democrats for turning their back on the one candidate that could have actually done some good. When the democrats turned their back on Bernie and shoved hillary in our faces and guess what we didn't like that. I don't see how anyone could have voted for either candidate and felt good about their choice

I feel your pain girls, I live in Florida. I was so driven that we'd swing blue but to think people in my community, my home state, my home, sided with this kind of hateful nonsensical radical is physically disgusting. Despite the hateful racism and ignorant rantings of some people I still believe we as a country will overcome this. All this fear and division is just a desprate attempt to cling to a old-world view that we simply grew past. America definitely has its problems, but often when we hit our greatest low we open ourselves up to the greatest change. (Yes I quoted Avatar)
