Could you maybe talking about getting a "first job out of college", so to speak? To go along with that, really it would be more about actually transitioning to an independent life where you are making decisions that will impact the rest of your time here on Earth, and how you personally have gone about addressing those decisions when it feels like nobody really knows anything. Anyways, great vlog, as always. Cheers!

Burnie, love ya man, but something you said kinda made me laugh when you talked about people who watched star wars more than once liked it more.

I think you think that they liked it more because they saw it more times, whereas, i think it's more likely, at least, objectively so, that only those who liked it, invested their time to re-watch it. And yes, i'm sure there are a select few people who gained more enjoyment the second watch-through of the film...and there are other films out there that DO take several viewings to catch some things that aren't obvious or are so strange at first viewing they don't understand what's going on (time travel films for instance, or films where so much info is available all throughout that the film REQUIRES multiple viewings to gather the full scope of the creative genius that went into it)....

But i think when it comes to star wars, specifically.....you either get people who LOVE star wars and see it a dozen times, or you get people who watch it once and don't watch it again cause they don't like it.

There is a certain amount of bite-size content on this website compared to the long podcasts that update all the time.  I never have time in my schedule to watch the podcasts, and I don't really listen to them because it's still mostly visual (as much as you try to keep the listeners in the loops which I appreciate).

It would be very sad to see the vlogs go, it's one of my favorite updates.  If you are running out of things to talk about then that makes sense but I love getting this view of Roosterteeth.  I've followed this company since 2003 when I discovered RvB and introduced it to my friends.  Getting this perspective has been fantastic and I still go back and watch previous videos for the 2nd or 3rd time because of how genuine they are.

I think it would be interesting to hear about The Future. Not necessarily what the company is going to be doing or what you're doing specifically, but how to approach it from both a personal and professional view would be interesting, especially with the end of the vlog coming up. I always have a hard time looking so far ahead, especially professionally when I'm having a lot of trouble getting a traditional communications job (stupid employers wanting 5 years of professional experience for an entry level job) and it gets rough. But hearing about how to approach the future from a non early-20's view would be helpful.

I just wanna say that these vlogs have been absolutely amazing and I love the fuck out of these. Burnie you have been giving me a lot of direction with these vlogs on how I wanna steer my life right now. I have been in manufacturing for six years and worked dead end jobs before that. I always asked myself how i could get a job somewhere I actually loved and I had been an RT fan since the very first days of RvB so a year or so ago I decided I needed to get out of this industry and start working towards a way to get in at Rooster Teeth. Then I saw a video where you told a fan asking about work there and you told him "Don't try to work at Roosterteeth, start your own Roosterteeth." I took that advice to heart and have been hard at work to get my own youtube channel started. The Burnie Vlogs have been a huge help in how I wanna go about handling this. It is an immensly blind jump for me, I knew absolutely nothing about the entertainment buisness when I started. But I'm looking forward to what I can create. Girlfreind is very supportive and I got freinds who wanna test it out so maybe its not a hopeless endevour. (I spell that right?) I'm 30 years old and and I actually make pretty good money but i can't spend the rest of my life hating my job. Thank you for these videos.

On another note, I think this video series should be kept going. Understandably you wanna focus on other things but I think it would be really cool to do this as a "season" type series and have some one in the company take the reigns every season. I would love to see Gavin or Barb or even Geoff do a vlog talking about life, advice, and differnt other topics. Geoff is a guy I can really see eye to eye with. Whatever is decided I love the work RT does and appriciate every video that comes out. I hope this company lives forever.

just wanted to provide an outsider's evaluation of how well your values are working / being translated into practice.

be genuine - ok this one i think you've stuck to very well, and different departments produce the type of content that they most enjoy, but it's a little strange to me that there's very little interplay between departments. you'll never see AH or FH discuss the latest RWBY episode for instance (i'm convinced most of them don't even watch it) - instead they're always talking about the things they enjoy (movies, shows, etc.) which are invariably nothing like the content they make.

community - i think some people embody this very well (e.g. I'm constantly impressed by how much Jeremy is still involved with and appreciative of the community) and others don't really (e.g. FH very often seem to treat their fans as just a statistic, as if view count is literally the only thing that matters to them). i'd definitely rank y'all up there for audience interaction, though maybe not at the top (it'd be a serious contest with Riot for me)

be purposeful/collaborative - i guess these are more internal, but from what we've seen of AH BTS, it seems that they, at least, are very dedicated to their jobs and have fun working together. on the collaboration front, i think it'd be cool to see more departmental crossovers - more things like Gavin/Geoff/Lawrence on the recent Always Opens.

have fun - you said yourself that it can feel disingenuous when companies say this, and unfortunately it still seems to be true here. sometimes it feels as if people are trying way too hard to be positive (like Miles asking for Q&As to only consist of positive questions) and ignore or don't talk about the negatives (which can cause them to fester and eventually lead to things like Lettergate).

keep moving forward - this one you've nailed on many fronts, it seems. just this year, AH has breathed new life into Minecraft with Skyfactory to the point where it's now one of my most anticipated LPs each week (whereas before i would regularly use it to fall asleep); Git Gud is also a fantastic new series; FH has actually honed Dude Soup to where they have one serious topic that they go all in on, which results in a very good and balanced discussion; OTS is always experimenting with new segments; RWBY has improved massively in visuals and dialogue (admittedly while stagnating in other areas like combat and storytelling, but that's a whole other discussion); this very vlog has been a huge success. on the other hand, a few things have remained stagnant, like the RT podcast, which i think has been eclipsed by all the other podcasts - you've got OT for chaos, DS for serious discussion, GP for games and salty Ryan, AO for emotions and millenials, etc.

I've been there on the originality side, I worked with a guy who was obsessed with originality to the point that I wasn't getting any scripts finalized because he was turning them down for not being original enough. Originality is good, but an obsession with it will kill a project.

Once i saw that this vlog was about inspiration by the company that inspired me to go in the direction i am today, i clicked on it immediately. I have never been excited to go back to school because of classes. Roosterteeth is the reason i push myself every day to keep going. I have been watching your content since Middle School and i tried to go to school for photography but my parents took that option away. I was forced to do something i didnt like and i didnt do well my first year of college. this previous semester i have done so much better doing something that i love. i thank the whole company for keeping me moving forward in my life and actually enjoying it.

    Hey Burnie,

A month ago I left my first full-time job after graduating from college. I was with a company for three years (as video editor/production coordinator) and enjoyed most apects of it. I left because I was plague with anxiety and depression because I felt I couldn't value myself or my work (prefectionist). Ultimately the grind and my shrunken confidence was the final straw to move along.

My question to you if you want to talk about it on one of the final vlogs is how to deal it this type of situation. Did you ever quit a job and if so, what kept you going? I feel I am still young and have more experience or the chance to take on new opportunities. I think being scare is normal for young adults & me. Especially trying to find sucess right after college. For me, the best way I see it is now starting a new chapter in my life. Remaining positive and at a least trying is better than nothing. Thanks again (and Ellie!) for making these vlogs and being a pillar to Rooster Teeth. It's one of the reasons I went to school to learn how to shoot, edit, produce, or be on the technical end of video production. Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Years too!

I feel like this needed a tux, bowtie and deep leather armchair  smile Great advice, totally agree that being around other people will inspire you. I often feel very inspired by Desert Island Discs, a lot of people from different walks of life with interesting stories to tell.

I've also had the same problem with wanting to be original, and wanting something to have no mistakes. Nothing will! If you just try to make something, rather than something great, then you will get a lot further, in my experience.

A simple video this week. It was really cool to see some of the behind-the-scenes Brand guidelines at play. It has always fascinated me how you can keep hundreds of staff at that "go-getting" "super-positive" mind-frame (Specifically the onscreen guys). Great Vlog again. It will be missed.

I was firmly in the Underwhelmed camp with Last Jedi, but I am going to see it again for the very reason Burnie said.

I do occasionally get a sense from movies I don't like on first viewing that there might be something more to it if I watch it again: I thought The Matrix was tedious first time out, but loved it the second time; I thought the Life Acquatic was bilge, and now it's one of my favourites; I thought The Dark Knight Rises was clunky, but then found it fun (then watched it a third time, and not only found it clunky, but also completely stupid).

I don't expect it to suddenly rise to the level of Empire or Rogue One, but I hope there's more to it than I initially gave it credit for (though I struggle to see the protracted casino stuff being any more than a drawn-out aside).

Well, correct me if I'm wrong, but have we actually seen Ellie at the height of her skill tree? Wearing all the kit she made? Kravving the hell out of everyone's maga before unleashing hell from a helicopter with a sniper rifle? I think you need to set up an obstacle course for her where she can show off all her newly acquired skills.

And your line is: "But I created you! You must obey me!"

Kidding aside, thanks for this series of vlogs. It provided a welcome spurt of common sense in a world that appears to have lost all its grown-ups all of a sudden.

These vlogs have been so interesting because we get to see your input and how you see the world around you in a different light. With your conversations about motivation to inspiration, many of these vlogs have made it possible for me to see life through another person's lens. A lens that has stood the test of time and still come out unbroken. I wish these vlogs weren't coming to an end but if that is what you wish them so be it. My only hope is that you talk about these in depth conversations more.

Another great vlog post, Burnie! These vlogs have been a refreshing and different way to indulge in Rooster Teeth. I am grateful to work in a company that shares a similar company culture to Rooster Teeth, and I think the quality of our products are a testament to that vibrant culture. Thanks to you, Matt, and others who have fostered those values because the end products from Rooster Teeth have been wonderful as a result!

As for final requests: I'd love to hear about what skills and experiences you had from your telcom days that were key to your success in developing Rooster Teeth from the early RvB success to what it is now. What skills did the other founders bring that helped in places where you had less experience? Similarly, are there skills (either personal or professional) that you wish you'd had back then that would have helped you through those earliest days?

Thanks a lot for that, Burnie. Seriously. I've been sitting on this amazing idea for a while, it's a web series called Rerd Vs. Bluh, about two groups having battles in a canyon. The kicker tough - it'll be machinima'd in Minecraft.

edit: Actually, that sarcastic comment just gave me an idea. What about the complete opposite of what you're talking about? People making shows of something they were far too inspired of and end up creating a "clone". When does an idea that was inspired by another show or product become a clone and how could the creator prevent that? Like f.e. Star Wars being an obvious and complete rip-off of the Sonic the Hedgehog lore and storyline. What could George R.R Lucas have done to either make that less obvious or.. basically just not lean too far into the source material of inspiration for Star Wars?

Hey Burnie I was wondering if you would find it interesting to discuss this topic, When you do what you love for a living how do you separate Personal and Professional Growth and Projects. Relating to your Vlogs it would be more of a topic about, Doing what you love and are passionate about and being able to create things with that passion in Personal projects as well as Professional Projects. Sometimes for me in video production and editing it's harder to be passionate about something you have no control over and that is my biggest shortcoming right now; I feel the content I produce for clients is rushed and just another checkmark on my calendar instead of a project that could really inspire or impact any one. Have you ever dealt with something similar?
