Look people the earth goes through cycles of hot and cold temperatures throughout the history. This stuff might have happened before probably before recorded history. Even if we were to get rid of all the cars it would only reduce 20% of the carbon pollution. You make more carbon dioxide Exceling. What could we puny humans due to this planet. My God Bless:)

I can surmise the age bracket of posters from most of the comments (I'm probably older than most of the RT staff   sweat_smile) , so I doubt many people know that before "climate change" the big scare was global warming... and before that global cooling.  Yes, in less than a half century we've gone from the "science and data" indicating the world will freeze over to the world will burn and melt the ice caps to... let's claim climate change, because no one can deny that the climate changes?  Heck, I even believe the climate changes... it's called weather.

While I hold degrees in physics and mathematics as well as being a retired nuclear engineer, it probably only takes high school level physics and math to sort through the climate change models to see if they hold water... alright, a bit of calculus, too, but I think high schools still teach that  smile.  To give you the very short version, the models that are used to spell gloom and doom make the following assumptions for their math to work (and this is by no means the entire list):

    - Conservation of energy is not kept (yep, Newton is wrong for these models to work)

    - Heat flow is the opposite of the law of thermodynamics (literally cold atmosphere is heating the earth in the models... if that were true, we'd all be dead and crispy right now)

    - Blackbody conditions are not in equilibrium (basically the BB model breaks down when not at equilibrium, and the models only work when the system assumes non-equilibruim).

    - There is no night time (model assumes constantly daylight over the entire earth at all times, there are fudge factors to hide this to some degree).

-The average temperature of the entire atmosphere above one point occurs at the surface of the earth (...yeah, it happens somewhere in the middle of the atmosphere, but to model global heating the surface temperature needs to be artificially lower than the data)

-It's a green house effect! (green house effect is actually caused by trapped air, not trapped radiation as advertised... it just sounds nicer, hence why the term is inaccurately used... alright, this is more of a pet peeve issue, but illustrates that proponents like things to sound palatable versus accurate)

Now there are a ton of extra fudge factors and misnomers in the entire theory and modeling, and you certainly don't have to take my word for it (especially if you like geeking over math and science like I do).  In fact, I encourage people to actually look past the hype on both sides and do the research yourself, but be warned it's arduous and sometimes hard to find actual truth.  However, you may ask if the theory, data, and modeling is always so flawed and misleading, why is it even supported and believed?  Super easy answer: people's history generally begins when they are born, and climate drama = $$$ and power.  Whether the climate is warming, cooling, or changing, it's the same actors screaming crisis and the newer generation probably is none the wiser because the topic/actors are much older than they are.  Don't get me wrong, I'm not one to say nuke the world and ask questions later, but I'm not one to buy into blatant scare tactics either.   I hope others here are smart enough to do the same.

More back on topic, I did really enjoy most the episode!  Not so much the ending, as it came off as preaching versus a comedic diatribe.  You can certainly take an issue like climate change and vaccinations and make it funny for everyone, but it didn't quite execute that way.  I'm still a fan, though!

I'm curious as to why you were a denier and what caused to rethink you view on it.

Sadly, the ability to examine a view that a person holds and decide to change when more/new information is presented seems to be something that many people are unwilling to do.

@jd2066 I used to be a climate change denier because I used to blindly follow the ideas and opinions of my mother when I was younger. I guess it started when I was in 6th grade, during the 2008 Presidential race. Somehow, through my mom listening to conservative radio shows while I was in the car and her telling me about how Obama was actually born in Kenya, my political compass got pushed to the right from a young age.

From then on, I pretty much threw away the knowledge I had learned the previous year about climate change, and replaced it with the pseudoscience that my mother was telling me about, I guess because the lies made more sense in my head. This lasted pretty much through all of Obama's presidency, or up until when the political climate changed in 2015 when Donald Trump declared his campaign for President.

I supported Trump for a period of time, but in the end it made me question myself as a conservative. I started opening my mind to new ideas, getting the full story on controversial topics, and trying to see the other side of the argument. On some issues, there was more evidence and reasoning on the other side, climate change being one of those issues. Previously, I thought that climate change was completely natural and humans had no impact on it, but after watching a couple of documentaries and reading several articles and journals, I realized that humans do indeed contribute to and accelerate the effects of climate change.

As the right-leaning centrist that I am today, I still agree with my mother on a lot of things, but climate change is definitely something that is argued about in our house, especially when my father and sister are both liberal. I love my mom and all, but she really needs to look at the world from a different view sometimes...

This has nothing to do with how valid the argument is and whether I agree with it. It has everything to do with the fact that I don't like seeing politics in places not designed for politics. I can agree with the argument, while simultaneously thinking that it has no place in entertainment.

    • znorton29 FIRST Member Star(s) Indication of membership status - One star is a FIRST member, two stars is Double Gold

if you aren't enjoying the entertainment then maybe watch something else? Rooster Teeth does not give a shit about whether you think politics should be mentioned. Well put and totally reasonable.

    • nicus9 FIRST Member Star(s) Indication of membership status - One star is a FIRST member, two stars is Double Gold

So discussing a meteorological event and a scientific debate (using "debate" loosely here) is political? At what point did they mention the government exactly? I never heard a word talking about politics.

All I heard was a description of a scientific event and a plea to look up research and educate yourself. I do not see how that can ever be bad, regardless of what the scenario is or which side of it you fall on. Clearly they mentioned what side they are on but they did not tell you to blindly believe what they told you, they told you to look it up yourself.

So I guess if the government ever talks about a subject it means it is political ALL THE TIME. Sorry guys, we can't talk about Christmas or any other holiday for that matter because it is political, AKA a politician mentioned it at one point in time. We also can't have any videos about dogs. Politicians had a party with dogs dressed up a week or so ago. All dogs are now political and cannot be discussed at all. No cars in videos either. Government regulates drivers licenses so all talk of cars is now political.

And as many other users put it much more simply:

"You don't like it? Don't watch it."

    10) Also, that hug with Nikki made Max smile?! I call lies! Max smiled, none of this can be real. Its all a hallucination or something.

This seriously was a 9/10 episode until that PSA....then it is probably a 4/10.

I seriously said the same thing Max did when it snowed last Friday.

We totally need more Jeremy the Snowman.

As for the PSA,  I understand that it was intended as parody, but it just wasn't good.  Whereas the RvB ones are entertaining to me, this PSA felt like a group of people just shoving their opinion down their throat.  The anti-vaccination joke also was a little overboard.

I get that many people agree with what was stated, but both subjects are fairly nuanced and deserved more respect than they got.  It would have been better to include ways to help with global warming,  instead of just telling people it is bad and you are bad if you argue with us.

    • CyberNut FIRST Member Star(s) Indication of membership status - One star is a FIRST member, two stars is Double Gold

Ehh, not bad but a fucking moron. I put climate change deniers and anti vaccine supporters right up there with flat earthers.

    • kethrynrose

@CyberNut  1)There is nothing moronic about recognizing that there are other sides to an argument.  For the record, I believe that climate change is occurring as a result of many factors.  I am not 100% certain as to the exact impact that humans have had on this issue.  Therefore, I personally believe that it is up to us as humans to take whatever steps we can to be more considerate of the environment as a whole.

      2) As far as vaccinations are concerned, this is an issue where there is no blanket solution.  While vaccinations as a whole are good for our society and have managed to help improve the longevity of humanity, I recognize that there are times when vaccination is not the best solution.  The CDC even recommends that people with compromised immune systems should not receive certain live vaccinations due to sub-optimal immune system responses.  I've included the link below that was last reviewed on July 12 of this year.

@kethyrnrose You're completely right about the people with sub-optimal immune system responses not getting vaccinated, but that's also one reason why it's so important for others to do so. When the rest of us are vaccinated, it creates a herd immunity which can greatly reduce the chance of already at-risk groups from contracting diseases which they may not be able to cope with due to issues with their immune systems
