Enjoy the Show: The Deadpool Defiance - #.01

A failed gameshow host (Jon Risinger) teams up with a "past his prime" jock (Tyler Coe) to the discover the meaning behind unicorn masturbation jokes, comedically small man-child hands and ring pops hidden inside body cavities. Along the way they are joined by New England-accented, "comic relief" generic white guy, Andrew Blanchard, and in the end ruin some perfectly good movie quotes with swear words.Welcome to Enjoy the Show.

I agree with Mr. Blanchard's assessment It wasn't a "perfect" film however it was a funny movie, it was also a good movie. I think that adding characters like Cable and/or Domino to the films could potentially hurt the film because unless like Ryan Reynolds and they are a huge fan of the character. Then they will be a lesser success and thus make the sequel less successful. I intend to go see it when it comes out but will keep my eyes open when I see it.

Kind of late but whatever this kind of bugged me in the episode. Deadpool started off kind of generic. When Liefeld was behind the wheel Deadpool was just a knock off Death Strike (no one was really clamoring for a movie then). It wasn't till Kelly did he start to have a personality, and really Daniel Way is when you start to see the Deadpool that everyone knows and love. I also know I am in the minority but, in the movie they kind of took away Deadpool's loneliness which I would argue is the biggest part of his personality and the only thing that makes him relatable.

When Dead Pool was released in my hometown it was rated 14A, and we were terrified that it would be limited to a good 14A title but after watch it,and having a dam good time. Dead Pool was bumped up to R-rating and theater fined heavily the next day. I live in Canada Alberta and I don't thing that's why but I'm pleased Dead Pool turned out

Very smart to focus on 1 movie per episode (while not shying away from referencing other movies) but definitely less games & scripted stuff, aside from the opening. This must be the sort-of spoilercast Burnie was talking about.

I'd like to see another episode of this.

    Keep:

Length is good. 10 minutes extra at most.

    Change:

Keep John's "speeches" at the beginning only; the rest of the show should be discussion. It is nice to have a formal introduction to the movie being discussed just don't make so structured.

This was good, we needed a movie podcast/show. I think it would be better if there were 4 people and just talk about movies in general rather than a more specific topic. Or have a few main topics to talk about and just let the conversation flow.

Less hosting and more just bullshit chatting about movies. I enjoy this format as well so if it stays like this I'll still watch.

I like how this show opens up the discussion table for more than one person's perspective on a well or little known subject.  Tyler and Andy's inclusion make room for more than just an insider or outsider's  take on what's popular in comics, movies, and games.  I think that once you add some viewer generated questions to the more natural chat in this show, you'll find your niche.  Jon, congrats on landing a new show.  Talking about things  like fun facts,  post movie, TV show production knowledge could be added into future episodes of Enjoy The Show.  TC and Andy, you guys are to be commended for adding two different perspectives without leaning heavily in one direction.  Either for or against a particular subject.  I like how unforced and natural sounding the commentary is.  Jon, your monologue sometimes forces the pacing,  perhaps you could move right into the discussion. Thanks for allowing viewers like me the chance to rant and rave about the things we care about.

Other superhero properties and franchises I would be surprised to see get a R rating would be TMNT, Batman, we've had The Killing Joke, and the Dark Knight Rises pts. 1 & 2 animated.  But if those properties were given the same time and attention as Deadpool along with the live action treatment it would be something to talk about..

Maybe it's just me, I was looking forward to hearing any of you three  to make mention or a connection between Marvel's Blade trilogy and  DC/Vertigo's Watchmen and The Losers.  Perhaps, it's the target demographic, taste in genre, not just wanting cool characters in spandex flying, having a memorable plot, drawing out those emotions or reaching a satisfying conclusion.  I for one, would like to know what's your take on video game based movies?   The audience has endured sitting through or leaving very bad ones, IE:   Super Mario Bros. Dead or Alive, Street Fighter,  to decent and good ones, like Mortal Kombat,  Tomb Raider, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Resident Evil series,  Agent 47.  Care to discuss how Hollywood can improve on these in a future episode?   All in all, Congrats on releasing a new show to the public.  Can't wait to see more.

this was cool, Jon slow down, Also maybe you can add a segment in the end of some kind like "movies you looked over from 2016( the year*)" or "under rated movies of the month" and each say one movie.

This isn't working for me. For a few reasons.

    1) No games. What's the point to having people play games when you are talking about a movie it. It gains no benefit from this. Make it an On the Spot game.

    2) Going off on a tangent on something unrelated like Westworld's dicks also has no benefits when talking about Deadpool.

    3) What's going on when Jon is speaking into the camera? It's to wordy and can summarized faster. He also speaks fast at points which makes him sound preachy. It also sounds like he is reading from a teleprompter.

    4) There is an issue of it wanting to be a professional opinion piece where things get analyzed and explained with professionals and friends talking about why movies worked for them. This issue is mainly caused by 3.
    5) No one really offered anything really that Jon didn't spew out in issue 3. The conversations weren't insightful and felt like it was going no place because Jon left it that way. Besides the jokes if landed (they didn't for me) there is nothing but wasted time with Tyler and Andrew.

If you want funny and insightful you can do that just spend time on it. It seems you had a teleprompter for Jon. Make a script and have one person do it. This just has lots of things that just seem to clash within the show.

The movie ratings system is bullshit anyways. So many bad PG-13 movies deserve to have an R rating, and amazing movies like Mad Max: Fury Road don't deserve their R ratings and get kicked aside due to it...

This is an EXCELLENT "pilot" episode of a new series. I REALLY enjoyed everyone's enthusiasm on the show. Jon is a great host for a show like this. Andy and Tyler did fantastic. Interesting for a new show that came out of nowhere.  It definitely has some room for improvement, but it's a step up from what I assume is the show that this is replacing, Screen Play.  This episode seems a little rough around the edges but I hope that's because the format for the show is still being felt out and will be finalized after the pilot period.

I have to agree with Andy on Cowboys and Aliens.  While not a great movie by any means, it was still a perfectly fun movie to watch.
