Burnie, If i say there are 5 planets in the universe, and someone tells me I'm wrong, just because they can't tell me the exact number of planets in the universe doesn't mean I'm not wrong and they're not right.

The wire probably won't even need to be hot to effectively cut it. It would probably work if you just put wire over the ice and pull it down (apply pressure) and the ice will melt in the path of the wire via regelation.

For real though, if you have asthma car bags are awful. I was in the back seat of my brother's truck when we spun out into a median in the winter and the powder that was thrown out by it sent me into an asthma attack.

Honestly in any situation where things don't go your way, just chill the fuck out. Normally if your nice and don't give too shits about a unfortunate situation, things tend to work out better in your favor anyway.

One of my favourite facts about cars is that when Volvo invented the three-point seatbelt, they refused to patent it and instead sent the design to all the major car companies because they valued its potential to save lives greater than any money they could have made off it.

According to cog sci, sixth sense is proprioception, how you know where each part of your body is when you aren't looking, its not the same as the sense of touch btw.

    • burnie FIRST Member Star(s) Indication of membership status - One star is a FIRST member, two stars is Double Gold

So how many senses are there then.

    • Advent1013 FIRST Member Star(s) Indication of membership status - One star is a FIRST member, two stars is Double Gold Advent1013

That's the million dollar question, It's safe to say we have 5 major senses, don't quote me on this since I could be horribly wrong, but there are probably a lot more smaller senses we have to monitor our body functions (probably subconsciously) else we would not be able to function as a higher level organism.

So if asked, I'd just say 5, my cog sci class loved to mention that sixth one.

EDIT: According to Wikipedia there are 5 Traditional senses and a lot of non-traditional senses that monitor some smaller stuffs you often take for granted. So lets not complicate things and stick to the 5 basics, the same way we say there are 3 primary colors.

Fuck you guys. Self-Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus. It's not "scubba," it's "scooba." Light Amplified by Stimulated Emission of Radiation. It's not "lasser," it's "lazer."

The fucking creator of the standard pronounces it "jif." The pronunciation of the components of an acronym have no bearing on the pronunciation of the acronym itself.

    • zechio FIRST Member Star(s) Indication of membership status - One star is a FIRST member, two stars is Double Gold

In English, it's the pronunciation of the population that determines it. It doesn't matter how the first person pronounced it, it matters how the masses do.

    • AllPurposNrd FIRST Member Star(s) Indication of membership status - One star is a FIRST member, two stars is Double Gold

For like normal parts of speech, maybe. For industry terms that are coined by an inventor, absolutely not. If a shitload of people started calling it Diet Cock, Coca-cola would in no way be required to adapt to that.

    • Neo_Baggins FIRST Member Star(s) Indication of membership status - One star is a FIRST member, two stars is Double Gold

You said it yourself: "The pronunciation of the components of the acronym..." The correct way to pronounce it is gee eye eff. Amalgamating it into a word can be done however you want. It's not a trademark, it's a file format. Coke doesn't stand for anything, it's a trademarked name. .gif is an acronym and any pronunciation of an acronym will fall subject to standard english rules. That dictates a hard g. Simple as that. I could pronounce it geef if I wanted. People wouldn't listen to me, but I could. It isn't a word, it isn't a trademarked name. Any pronunciation is done by basic grammar school rules. (Before you try pulling giraffe out, I'll point out that the etymology of giraffe finds its origins in Arabic translated to Portuguese, not English. In english it was called a Camelopard. Way cooler, imo.)

".gif is an acronym and any pronunciation of an acronym will fall subject to standard english rules."

Standard English rules do not govern the pronunciation of acronyms.

I'll say it again. Light Amplified by Stimulated Emission of Radiation. According to your view, it should be pronounced "lasser." It isn't. Self-Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus. According to your view, it should be pronounced "scubba," with a short U. It isn't.

As do I, pretty bad. However, I'm fine when someone else is driving.

It shouldn't be that surprising either. Even here in the US, you are more than twice as likely to die in a car accident than by a gun. ( About 6 times as likely if you don't count suicide. )

If you actually watch, it's really depressing. I've yet to see a single person ever come close to driving well. ( IE: Not constantly breaking the law/doing something dangerous. ) Most people make a mistake pretty much every mile or so.

Humans just are not capable of driving due to our inability to multitask. This is why even the experimental, early prototype Tesla Autopilot is twice as good as we are.

If so I don’t care if there was because its pre-recorded

    • Reiter FIRST Member Star(s) Indication of membership status - One star is a FIRST member, two stars is Double Gold

It was! If you look at Burnie's right arm at 2:56 it starts to go down and hugs his leg; however, after the hard cut at 2:59 his right arm is suspended. In that single frame switch he couldn't have moved it up completely.

The reasons behind was probably was an awkward silence or Blaine said something like, "I haven't seen her in anything so I prefer that," and it probably didn't work right. That being said I love Blain's humor, nothing against him.

    • zechio FIRST Member Star(s) Indication of membership status - One star is a FIRST member, two stars is Double Gold

It absolutely happened with the old one too. It seems to be their CDN. I always had the issue at roughly the same time of day.

That being said, this new one has a new issue for me. If the video starts playing, then I maximize it, it will stop buffering. Refreshing causes it to auto-start and minimize again, so that doesn't work. I have to skip the video ahead of where it stopped buffering, to force it to reconnect. Thanks to intros though, I don't actually miss anything.
