What J.J Abrams said in an interview about Star Trek -

One thing Abrams has never been, though, is a Trekker. Or a Trekkie. Or even a Trekkist. "Star Trek," he says, referring to the original TV series, "always felt like a silly, campy thing. I remember appreciating it, but feeling like I didn't get it. I felt it didn't give me a way in. There was a captain, there was this first officer, they were talking a lot about adventures and not having them as much as I would've liked. Maybe I wasn't smart enough, maybe I wasn't old enough. But The Twilight Zone I was obsessed with. Loved it."

Long before he knew he'd one day be directing a "Star Wars" movie, Abrams told MTV Newsback in 2009 that he wanted his "Star Trek" to have hints of "Star Wars," which included hiring Lucas' visual effects company ILM to make the action in "Trek" extra special."[I] was trying to combine both of those elements and make a movie that wasn't like a 'Star Wars' movie but felt that it had more pace and action than certain 'Star Trek' movies had," Abrams said. "ILM, George Lucas' company, did the visual effects. They are incredible."

Thank you! When they said he was a Star Trek fan I thought I remember hearing him say that he never really got in to it. I thought that a lot of hardcore fans were upset when they picked him to direct since he wasn't a fan.

@Jon If we press CTRL + ENTER on a Windows or ⌘ + ENTER on a MAC it will surround the word that was typed in the URL bar with "www. .com" and load.

On another note @burnie the Wadsworth constant (first 30%of any YouTube Instructional video can be skipped) while watching a video press the number 3 key on the keyboard and it will skip to 30% of any youtube video playing.

Hey, a political chart that only lists conservative or liberals kind of leaves out socialists and libertarians.

    look up some Zizek ^^

(BTW 81% liberal, and i'm fairly certain that liberalism is the bane of the common man, comrades.)

  • St_Evisser

33% Right, 67% Left, and disagree with that assessment. I'm very tolerant, which i consider a liberal trait, but most other issues I always swing to the right on, so I'm very curious what makes these questions determine how far a person swings. Like, is it more Right-wing to be angry that the railroad tracks smell like piss?

    • epmancini

You can click where it says "how does this work?" Essentially the more things that disgust you, the more conservative it says you are. It's based on some study in 2014. Personally, I'm moderate-republican but not much really upsets me so it put me way to the left which isn't very accurate at all.

I think achievements should have 2 groups; single player with 100% obtainable without ever playing multiplayer (depending on co-op capabilities), and then multiplayer achievements that require absolutely no map specific matches for tasks or skill based achievements, although skill based achievements are permissible as long as they apply to every map/match. It would be kinda hard to do, but it would make it easier for completionists to actually do everything in the game.

I agree with Jon on Fantastic 4. I didn't even watch the whole movie, I saw it on tv and I switched to it and it was like 3 minutes before they got their powers, then they went through the whole sequence of getting their powers, getting captured by the government, Mr. Fantastic running away, the rest of the team becoming badasses, Dr. Dooms return, and the final fight. And when the movie ended I looked at the clock and realized we only saw the last 30 minutes of the movie. And I was sitting there like "What the fuck was going on in the hour before this!?"

I love the podcast, and I have to say that I understand some of the complaints about the topics. It's not even a valid thing that should annoy a person, but there's something about when people always bring up "the best restaurants in my town" or the "best roads to take in my town" that sets people off.

Like I said, it's one of those pet peeves that annoys people for no real good reason. I think people just have this natural "Roll your eyes" reaction when others talk in detail about what they love about where they live, and routes they take, etc.

It's not a bad thing to espouse the great things about where you live, but I'm guilty of it too. I'll just think "Yeah yeah, we get it, you Looooove Austin". It's also people from California and Seattle who seem to always get into conversations with each other about where they live. And we outsiders are like "oh great, theyre talking about fucking directions that we don't even get again.

But I can't justify that feeling, and it's not even a bad thing for you to do. If you love your city of course you're going to talk about it a lot. I guess it's one of those bad human nature things for us to be annoyed. So speaking for myself, im sorry for that compulsion. Lol I love RT.
