I don't know if its because Cvil War came out before but it was kinda underwhelming for me.

I think my only complaint with Doctor Strange is that none of the fights felt epic or awesome to me. Of course that may have to do more with the nature of magic in that universe.

I feel like Blaine's opinion is very "I'm a DC guy so I don't like Marvel movies unless they are undeniably fantastic." I am a Marvel guy myself and sometimes I do find myself being critical of DC movies, though I am fairly critical toward the crap Marvel movies too (most of the bad ones were led by Fox and Sony).

Getting back to Blaine's comments, the point of each character or group movie individually is to establish the origin story and background. So when we get to the big movie where everyone comes together, they don't have to stretch the story between all of the characters or don't give time to some characters (look to a lot of the X-men movies). Dr. Strange's movie addressed the actual manipulation of magic directly by people not God-like, Guardian Vol. 2 addressed the origin of Peter (while the first really addressed origin of the group being created) and of course the more intricate relationship between Peter and Yondu I also imagine that they needed to kill off the super OP-ness of Yondu before the big group up movie. Minorly, there was a little more exposure on the background of each of the other characters.

I think Brandon is absolutely right about Guardians, I seriously have nothing bad to say about that movie, it was damn near perfect and enjoyable in every way and it made me appreciate that the Guardian movies are so enjoyable and you dont have to know anything about any other Marvel movie

I felt the same way, absolutely loved it. And Brandon's also right about the first scene being a prime example -- The amount of money that probably went into the CGI of that action sequence, and choreography, lighting, etc; and the camera spent the entire time following an adorable baby Groot. And it was brilliant.

Dr. Strange was a really good introduction to his story though. I preferred the cartoon movie version, but I don't think the live action is the same movie as Iron Man. Tony kills Obi and has to deal with the betrayal at the end, but the Ancient One's catharsis with Stephen is what convinces him to stay in the Sanctum.. That's just one example where the stories are close to parallel but diverge. It just turns out that "something shitty happened to me" is a good starting point for superheroes.

absolutely, you completely hit the nail on the head. Its frustrating sometimes when peoples only complaint about a movie is "Its the same movie as this one!" Ive heard people say Antman is just another Iron Man and im like What?

    • DocNameless FIRST Member Star(s) Indication of membership status - One star is a FIRST member, two stars is Double Gold

100% agree with you guys. I feel like starting from "something shitty happened to me" is what Marvel likes to do because it is a way for the audience to relate to the characters. And it isn't the same crappy situation each time because every person has shit to deal with in their life that makes their pain different to the person next to them.

I, like most people, have enjoyed many of the Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, etc. throughout life, but it is difficult to relate to "I was born on another planet and now have supernatural abilities", "I seem to have a never-ending supply of money that I don't have to put effort in to maintain and can build anything I want", and "I turn out to be a God to kill another God". Don't get me wrong, I have enjoyed some of the movies containing these characters, but it just isn't that relatable to my own life.

I mean honestly it's a good point haha. I mean we could all buy bitcoin right now. Maybe we will be rich in 5 years.. or maybe we will be hanging off the balcony because bitcoin bursted and costs nothing.

It's too much risk. Although there is a lot to get from it but.. I would rather just buy something with the money I'm about to invest into bitcoin.

Maybe if there was an app or something that every time you buy something it makes the change into bitcoin, and you make that change sit there and ignore it for 10 years.. MAYBE. Still skeptical about it.

The women's only screening at Alamo Drafthouse violates the laws of Austin pertaining to places of public accommodation. So voicing complaint of that violation of the law is not something to make fun of.

the main problem about is they were trying to get a reaction from people they were trying to make it a huge issue just by the way they talked about it.
take that assholery elsewhere stop trying to start fights. people got mad that men had no problem with the wonder woman movie. Remember when "feminists" they were bitching months and MONTHS about Gal Gadot being the wrong body type and not having arm hair and a whole bunch of other shit. Get out of here with that.

I've loved Gal since before the fast and the furious so that really miffed me. I'm like just let me enjoy this stop making it about your issues.

everyones always complaining..... who gives a FUCK if they want to have an all women's screening of a movie? like theyre not saying Men can never ever see the movie, fuck all the bullshit excuses with people saying its enabling discrimination. its a movie. this is why we cant have nice things. this is why we cant have any special events because someones always gonna cry and shout about dumb shit.

is it a violation if there were multiple screenings available for everyone else?

      Additionally

How about those ladies night out screenings?

      Are they also a violation?

Get outta here, as if there was any legitimacy in those complaints about that special screening. People need to take a chill people and ignore the wolf criers .

It was Captain America: Civil War and Not Avengers Civil war, because the Captain was the only main character who made any sense the entire film. He was right about everything the entire time and other characters had to be dumb for the movie to work.

I disagree but it was 100% an avengers film as Robert Downey Jr had more lines and screen time

    • GnarlyLasagna FIRST Member Star(s) Indication of membership status - One star is a FIRST member, two stars is Double Gold

while i agree with what youre saying, i feel like it was a captain america movie because the whole treaty bullshit is basically offloading the Avengers rights to choose when and where they can go stop bad shit from happening and allowing someone to take your rights away is as unAmerican as you can get. So yeah basically what you just said, Tony just has so much inner guilt tearing him up inside he just wants it to be someone elses fault if someone dies when the Avengers are saving the day. Tony was absolutely in the wrong
