Fahrenheit may be based on a more practical things but it doesn't matter. I know how cold or hot it would be to stay alive or for how comfortable I am in celcius because I'm used to it. There's no difference when you're used to it.

As a person who lives in Canada, it drives me nuts to listen to this podcast and hear Gavin fail at defending Celsius. I wish I could have been there.

I disagree with Geoff that if I found a place interesting to look at when I first saw it I would soon get bored with it-not true in my case.
I lived in Montery for 3 times, the last time for 3 years and I NEVER got tired of looking at the ocean, walking along the shore, checking out the view. When I lived in Colorado I never got tired of looking at the mountains and where I live now I never get tired of looking out the window at the garden.
Now if the first time I see someplace I think it's a dump or totally uninteresting-yeah, I'll pretty much ignore it. But get tired of something as cool as whales or the ocean or the Rocky Mountains? Never!

first off gavino just suck at arguments second their is no "best" measurement system. metric is just simpler (in my mind at least) because increments always change in base 10 unlike imperial which varies. That doesn't make metric better it's just easier to learn whereas with imperial each change most likely had a specific reason for each increment. of course this is all mearly my opinion.

I have always wanted to post this. It is to do with the lightening section of the podcast. a) If lightening will fly all they way down to earth from the sky, a little rubber won't make a difference. It will just jump from your body to the floor. b) When a car gets hit, the lightening travels around the car, not through it. This is called a Faraday Cage, which all cars have. c) I know that posting this makes me a douche. Sorry.

This is one of two podcasts I listen to. The other one I listen to because its like old time radio dramas made by a really good friend of mine.

And this is the funniest one out of all of the podcasts I've listened to so far. I was almost crying from laughing so hard.

    In reply to Unaltor, #157:

Horse not cow, mathematically, in the 18th century when he was around, it was considered more stable. During the same period the word Caucasian was invented to refer to white people, because we all apparently come from Georgia (the country in the Middle East, Stalin's home), science was less scientific then. 0 was a mix of brine and ice.

  • Loganthe6th

Yeah, your American perspective on temperature, Fahrenheit, is completely wrong. Celsius mathematically tells you survivable conditions, as it's defined by the properties of water that we largely are. Over 100 degrees C, brain damage, under 0, frostbite and nerve damage. 32 and 212 seem like completely random numbers and leave more useless numbers in between. It also has a direct relationship to Kelvin, which measures difference from absolute freezing, and it self measures the percent away from water boiling or freezing essentially, as its a scale from 0 to 100. 100 degrees Fahrenheit, body temperature of a horse, thats useful to know right there.

  • Unaltor

100 degrees Fahrenheit is the internal temperature of a cow (the inverter, thinking his internal temperature was the same as a cow stuck a thermometer up a cow's ass). 0 is the inverters coldest day (the coldest day he ever measured)

I really hope that I'm the first person to post this because I'm too lazy to go through and check, and this podcast is a year old...whatever.

smiley9.gif The movie 9 was originally an digital animated short the was done by a student and was in the animation show. (Idk if anyone knows it but it's a movie length collection of CG shorts--similar to the pixar shorts movies--and it's an annual show. The only reason I know this is because my brother majored in digital animation at the digital animation center (DAC) at university of Colorado at Denver. He's an awesome guy by the way, and I think he sent you a resume...). The movie was just a feature length version of the original short. Anyway, after it was featured in the animation show Tim Burton bought the short from the kid and made it into a movie.

Random, yes but I thought it was cool sitting in a movie theatre and seeing a preview for the short that I saw a couple years before. Even though all of my friends witnessed my geekgasm about something that they knew nothing about. Sorry for rambling, if anyone is still reading this. And the spoiler is just an awful description of what the animation show is and how I know about it as well as hinting at hiring my brother for job. Good god this is an awful post.

Love the podcast. Its making me embrace my inner geek and I love you all for it. smiley12.gif
