The Nintendo Seal of Quality used to be more effective in the NES days. It meant that the company MUST send Nintendo the source code for it to be approved first. If it is approved, only Nintendo can put the source code on the cartridge, because that was the only way for the game to work on NES. Each company could only publish 5 games per year. When everything is fine and no bugs and game crippling bugs in it, the Seal of Quality was given to the game.

I know I'm late but Razer made 360 controller named (Razer Onza) I don't know if they are good but all my PC accessories are from Razer and I love them. I don't have this controller because I don't own a Xbox but I'm sure it's good :) also I don't know if you knew only saying.

About that who spread how to fix games, when i was a kid with the Nintendo Gameboy, no one though me. I just thought maybe if i blow the dust out of the plug in area it would work, lol!! My first console I ever played was Star Fox on the Nintendo 64 Star Fox and Star Wars games, then PC, Gamecude, Xbox, PS3, Xbox 360 and now Xbox S.

There's a cool glitch- well not really as much a glitch as a flaw. You disconnect your xbox live, then you Chang the date like 15 years ahead of the real year then you turn it bak on and you get 15 whole years of rent

  • Saarvi

Speaking of Fable 2...weird thing happend to me. My 360 red ringed me so i had to go get a new one. The thing is that on the old one, i never botherd to set the date so it was like two years after the real date. So when i plugged in my old hard drive on the new 360, The date on my Fable 2 save file was two years behind the date on the new 360 (because it set the date to real time on the new one) and since you get rent from your propertys when your not playing......I got 2 years worth of rent!! i was a freaking fat cat after that....bill gates money :)

Something else, if the developers can tell if a copy of a PC game is pirated or not when they join a server, why don't they just MAC ban them? Or even better, hardware ban them! Also, now some people have managed to crack CoD6 dedicated servers, so even the shitty 360 port didn't work!

As I'm listening to your podcast, I'm getting more and more disappointed by how massively huge fanboys you guys are. Geoff, you're mistaken. A video card can be bought that runs MW2 at max settings for much less than a 360. For instance the 9800 gtx+ is only 135. And this video card is almost 2 years old.

PC gamers are constantly finding ways to raise the bar in terms of performance and price. I can pay 6 grand on a computer setup that will fucking blow our minds away. Or I can build one for $800 that will still blow your mind away and play MW2 at Max settings from scratch.

BTW I'm personally building a new computer and I'm at 1600 dollars and this includes a 3.4ghz quad-core cpu, a $300 5850 next gen graphics card from ati, 8 gigs of ram, 3 terabytes of storage, motherboard, a black magic intensity pro, windows 7, sony vegas 9, case, power supply, and aftermarket coolers for the gpu and cpu. And let me tell you, I'm going to have one hell of a time putting this together (in a good way) just like I had one hell of time shipping my 360 away when Halo 3 launched. I had to 5 weeks for that piece of shit console.

I'm not holding this against you guys as It appears you guys weren't aware of this, but the first Call of Duty was PC exclusive. This is very important and is one of the reasons why PC gamers feel betrayed by Infinity Ward because they supported Infinity Ward when they needed it most buy purchasing their first game as a studio. If Call of Duty wasn't a success on the PC, would there have been any sequels? Would Infinity Ward still exist today?

The Madcatz MW2 controllers are nice. I bought one to replace my shitty Microsoft wired controller.

  • limey98

Without PC games and PC gamers, the games industry WILL die! Games companies won't even look at you unless you have some experience with game design, and you simply cannot get that from consoles (with the slight exception of XNA). I have been modding a game for a few years now, and am currently doing a game design course at uni, and I don't know ANYONE thats going into game design that would classify themselves as console gamers.

don't feel to bad jack, i share your plight of the worst timed red ring. mine red ringed just days before MW2 and therefore just over a week before L4D2. i'd preordered the games so i have sitting here on my desk, but i should get my xbox back in a few more days :[

The pop-up talk was right on. I broke down and in a sheer orgy of fanboyish weakness I bought Silent Hill: Homecoming, and there is really no greater atmosphere destroyer than the radio static hitting a crescendo followed with a great resounding... pop up. It's like playing Silent Hill as brought to me by VH1, minus the interesting pop culture tidbits.

Speaking of Silent Hill, it's next installment is a Wii semi-exclusive(PS2 has one, but it comes off as kind of a weak port). So, while most people do not play their serious fare on the Wii, it comes out with the occasional gold nugget that draws me in.

As for 360 breakdowns not having an impact, more and more I find at my job people giving in their second broken 360 and just buying a PS3. Point of fact, after losing two of them myself, all I have left is the PS3 I've had since the beginning.

The first horror game I ever played was actually a property that spanned from Infogrames to Atari: Alone in the Dark.

You forgot Mirror's Edge as an original IP.

I don't know how to segue between thoughts.

Nintendo Power had something like what Geoff was talking about. You had to take a pic of your score and send it in. I did it once, never got a reply back.

Back before NP had Game Boy info in it, just NES.

    Yet another fantastic drunktank!

It's great that DT links to youtube videos, but can everyone who listens to the podcast stop saying 'drunktank' in caps in the comments? I'm willing to wager that some of you (The people who post DRUNKTANK!!!!1!!@!!!) hate people that post chain comments or post 'first'. well guess what, you're now that loser. Honestly, (Neg me all you want, it just means you're guilty of it) no one gives a crap if you came from drunktank. If you don't plan on contributing to the comments section then just don't post at all.

I constantly look forward to new drunktanks and listen to each one many times through, but some of the listeners just should not be allowed to post comments at link dump locations.

In reference to PC games that are not ports, what about the Battlefield series? Dice is branching out to consoles with Bad Company and BC2 but as for vanilla BF games the PC versions rock. In fact, the console port of BF2 was horrible IMO. And DICE have announced that the long delayed BF3 is in the works. It's a ways off but I'm already excited for it :)
