I like how self-aware the RT crew is. What I mean is that they know how their product is consumed. Back when it was just an audio podcast, I (like Gavin) listened to it on my commute or mostly when I was outside of my home. Now that it's video, I do exactly what Burnie said; I have the video playing while I'm doing other stuff around the apartment (mostly while playing videogames).

Tricia Helfer was also in Mass Effect as EDI.

I'm surprised that they didn't bring up Mass Effect 3's endings while talking about strange/bad endings, if only because of the controversy.

@GavinFree If you're having trouble with armored enemies in ME3 try using elemental and/or biotic explosions to kill the harder enemies. Fire ammo and a frag grenade work wonders.

Rather than leave a comment that expresses how excited I am that a podcast is released, in my classic fashion I'm going to leave an actual comment about how I feel based I what I heard in the podcast.

With what was being said about the podcast and it's length, Burnie hit the nail on the head. Most of the time it can be difficult to find the time to sit down for an hour plus and listen to the RT guys talk. I try listening to bits and pieces on the way to work or when I'm headed downtown. I REALLY like the format for the Patch for that exact reason, even though I don't listen to it day one.

Despite listening to the podcast from back in the early days, I've come to appreciate topical podcasts. I don't play games often, but I enjoy reading and watching video game news and the Patch is another way for me to hear and understand what the crew's opinions are about what's happening in the industry relevant to their personal, and sometimes, business lives.

On the subject of meeting famous people...

As a senior enlisted officer (master sergeant, U.S Army), I will occasionally get calls to go in and work with the Army, dispite the fact I retired last year. Last year, I was called in to help with the planning and early construction phases of a joint U.K/U.S military base in North Scotland. Two of my buddies and I were getting a cup of coffee in a local village when in walked Richard Madden, along with a small group of others. My companions didn't recognize him, but being a huge Game of Thrones fan, I knew the King in the North the moment I saw him.

I said hello, told him I was a huge fan of his work End the series. He thanked me for the compliment, and, noticing my Army uniform, thanked me for my service. He's a really nice guy, I couldn't stop talking about him when I called my wife later that night. Fantastic chance encounter.

LMAO Gus your so wrong about the Oculous Rift. Nobody wants the tablet integration. People want to have fun.

    • spagman8

Hey! I never said anything about the Oculous rift thing. I actually don't know anything about it. Sounds cool though.

    • bookoo327

Wait...you can see how tablet integration can actually add something to gaming even though most of what we have seen have been simple gimmicks, but you are unable to imagine how VR could actually add anything to gaming?

I really don't understand why people are writing off Oculus (or VR in general) so quickly. It is hard to even take the arguments seriously when I hear people (like Gus) say "we have tried this before", "Remember the virtual boy" etc...like technology hasn't progressed in the past decade.

It probably won't come out and be a smash mainstream success instantly, but we are in a pretty good position to create compelling VR. Most of the reviews of the basic low res dev kit are highly positive and it is only going to get better from here.

    • spagman8

For some reason I was remembering the Burnie and Allan comparison this morning and thought: wonder if that would make a funny RT short about Burnie kidnapping Allan and taking to him back home and being like a vampire and draining all the "coolness" out of him and being like, "alright, now everyone will want to hang out with me. Ha ha!"
But the next day when he shows up at work, Burnie discovers that someone else is now cool and the RT crew would rather hang out with that person. So he goes through the process of kidnapping the person and holding them at his home and draining the "coolness" out of them with his vampire fangs. And throughout the thing, Gavin is the only one noticing people are disappearing but everyone's is like, "whatever, Gavin. Go back to your Slow Mo thing."
Not really sure how it would end. Maybe Burnie drains everyone until he is left? Not sure. Just a thought that came to me. :)

I think RT has always had a XBox/Apple bias (not that suprising seeing how they started with Halo). It doesn't bother me much, but hopefully we may see more console variety after the PS4 launches.

They seem to have been doing a few more PC lets plays recently though which is cool.

I like watching the RT Podcast and The Patch live, and that mean later in the day is usually better. However, I would rather the sidecar spot to be used more and for people who normally are not on either of them to be on them, which means you would likely have to stream during the day. I would be fine with this, but that would mean I will probably miss the stream and have to wait for it to be released. So, my preferred situation would be if you record during the day, but release the video for the sponsors, which the video is for, almost immediately after instead of a day later and when you release the audio version.

As feedback, I watch the podcast on this player, but have things in the foreground that I'm active with. I might watch the livestream if I knew when it was, but it's been changing so often, and as far as I know, there is no written stream/release schedule on the site anywhere.

The reason Roosterteeth and especially achievement hunter has lost respect from me is that every game they talk about is "awesome" somehow. Jack is the perfect example of this. Generally it seems that every game is wonderful to him. I'd love these guys more if they had the nerve to sometimes say that some games are bad or at least some aspects of games are bad. Maybe they can turn Micheal into a critic. If anyone is capable of getting angry about bad game qualities or.. anything, it's him.
