Gavin's blatant disregard for a whole community of fans is a bit disheartening. There are many lovely dedicated fans on tumblr and they generate a lot of attention on the website. I mean it kind of just makes everyone that shows their love and appreciation of roosterteeth and achievement hunter feel like they mean nothing. I dunno it just doesn't seem like a great way to treat such a dedicated fanbase. Maybe that's just me.

I really appreciate Burnie in this podcast. I love how he didn't allow slut shamming or bitch calling. When Blaine goes on about how his ex made a big deal about him working and Burnie points out that she was not freaking out. Or even when he corrected himself and said flight attendant instead of stewardess. Great podcast.

I love what Burnie said about negativity! Couldn't agree more, he has some serious wisdom to that. :D

Just to answer the parachuting question: There are 3 main forms of jumping out of an airplane in the Army. First is the "Static-Line" parachute, which is when a parachute is hooked into the plane and deploys immediately as the jumper exits the plane, the force of his body exiting the plane being the "pull" to deploy the chute. This is the MOST COMMON form. They don't have to worry about teaching a soldier more than how to jump out of the plane and how to land. Everything else takes care of itself.

The other two forms are pretty much just for Special Operations stuff, HAHO (High Altitude High Opening) and HALO (High Altitude Low Opening). The main difference between the two being how high up they deploy their chute, and how long they freefall.

As far as I know (I'm mostly just familiar with the static line), there is never a time in the Military that tandem jumps are used. Either it's a static line, where it's unnecessary, or it's training Special Operations forces, which generally means "Guys who we can trust to not be stupid, so just show them how it's done".

    Hope that cleared it up.

I rarely disapprove of anything you guys do, but I really think bringing Blaine on the podcast was a huge mistake. You guys turned what is usually a funny podcast full of witty comments about current events and life stories into what essentially sounded like a bunch of douche-y high school boys being vulgar and saying uncalled-for comments about young women. I expect to hear those things from a group of immature junior boys, not the great guys who have been building a successful company. The things Blaine was saying majorly turned me away from watching the podcast, and that was a huge let down, since I really look forward to listening to Gus and Burnie talk about their lives. I really hope that Blaine and his "crazy ex" stories don't become a regular on the podcast.

At least in the army, they practice jumping out of planes during basic training, or at least they used to.

    • Dissent

Too my knowledge that has never been true. The only people in the army who practice jumping out of planes are airborne qualified soldiers, and they do that training with active airborne units or at Airborne School.

Halley's Comet was 1986 :) I know because I was born when it was closest to the earth, my family jokingly (I think jokingly >.>) said I was an alien dropped off the comet xP Also the space shuttle Challenger was 1986 as well, because I was almost named after Christa McAuliffe. My grandma said it would be a curse so they modified it ^_^

Just want to write a little thank you to Burnie for "defending" (for lack of a better word) areas of the internet, such as tumblr. He's right in that there are weirdos everywhere online and unless you are a regular member of a certain website, the only things you're really going to hear about it are from the heretics and the crazies. Just look at the ridiculous things that have been said about Achievement Hunter from people who know very little about it. Tumblr is just a blogging website, there's not much more to be said about it. There just happen to be radicals that associate themselves with it and give it a bad name, just like everywhere else online (and offline). Anyway. Looking forward to future podcasts, hope you guys continue to bring different people in. Would definitely love to see more of the Rooster Teeth team and hear their weird dating stories, haha. Love you guys as always smiley12.gif

  • BluWolverine

One thing that's been nagging at me is how the members of Achievement Hunter specifically, can't take criticism. What Gavin says at the end of the podcast (and every time they complain about the feedback they receive on their videos) really seems to echo that feeling. Not saying that all comments targeted at Achievement Hunter should be labeled as criticism (after all a lot of the comments they get are some of the dumbest things I've ever heard), but I wish they didn't come off so fragile. They're a successful business that too often seem to whine whenever people don't enjoy all of their content.

I don't remember any smell from when I got lasik, but who knows I'm not great at smelling. Also from someone who lives in TJ, what happened to Gus' mom is actually one the ways of getting out of bribing a cop. They usually just want easy money by scaring you and are too lazy to actually do anything else.
Also Blaine congrats on your first podcast appearance. Hope Gus puts you on the rotation.

Awesome Podcast. About the whole Nostradamus thing, if you're interested in other prophecy-related people. Check out Baba Vanga. She was a renowned bulgarian Mystic that died in 1996. Her prophecies have been accurate so far. And one of her last prophecies foretold the fall of Syria... and with what's been happening lately, she's not far off.

This podcast was brilliant. I can't believe people in the United States pay so little for cell phone bills. I'm not sure how it is for anyone else in Canada, but where i live i pay $80/month for my new HTC one M8 with 1GB (yes, one god damn gigabyte) of data. I'm also on a contract for 2 years, not sure that makes a huge difference considering if i bought the phone outright and paid $700 for it, it would only be $15 cheaper. I mean come on.. wtf.

P.s- Blaine needs to come back sometime soon. He was hilarious

I feel Gavin opinion on tumblr is only what he's heard so i don't think he knows people follow normal people on it and not the pricks he was referring to, really the same could be said about anything if you only know of the worst of it

It's always nice to see new faces on the podcast, even if I prefer the regulars. But Blaine just shows himself to be a pretentious prick throughout this podcast.
