Oh my god. This is probably my favorite episode ever of RWBY (other than S1E8). I probably cried 3 times. I love the buildup through the whole episode, and the set up for the dual fight thing at the end. Also glad for the Team JNPR and Jaune time. Feel bad for Pyrrha, but that whole cool mythology think is awesome. Overall astounded and can't wait for the next episode!

1) Ren's apron is something I would seriously consider getting for home use! I agree more with Nora. YAY Team JNPR time!!!

2) Hang in there Yang and Pyrrha! Totally know that stress/frustration all too well.

3) Is Mercury for real (disobeying Cinder's orders/thought he left the arena)? Or is it Emerald's illusion since she saw Ruby? Any thoughts on this?

Awesome episode, Rooster Teeth team!!! :D Totally stoked to see what happens next in the plot, and hopefully Yang is proven to be innocent so we all get more Yang puns!

  It's Mercury for real. I think Emerald is staying in the arena to screw Pyrrha over the same way that Yang got screwed over. Penny is going to end up being collateral damage in this situation. Cinder is trying to destabilize everyone that could pose a threat to her and her Fall maiden power.

I hope the next episode starts with Qrow saying "Hey you, come here. I wanna show you my Sythe." Not even to Mercury, just anyone. The Inn Keeper with the short skirt, asking Velvet to take a picture of it (the Sythe not the skirt). Just make it happen! If it is Mercury then (this is unnecessarily cruel) Qrow could cleve through both his legs. Ruby could be say something like "He has mechanical legs, Yang's innocent!" Qrow would squint and say "So it would seem." Just anything really. There is a "cool Sythe scene quote" that was established since Vol. 1, that is in trouble of not being met.

This is all in fun, but also IMHO.

  Aura keeps hunters and huntresses from taking serious physical damage. It's incredibly powerful, which is why it allows them to take blows that would usually kill a normal person. However, aura has it's limits, which is what the rules of this tournament are based off of. A person is out of the match when their aura has dropped below acceptable levels, or has been depleted all together. Before Yang went to defend herself against what she thought was an assault from Mercury, he had been announced as the loser of the battle, meaning, as far as everyone is aware, his aura was either incredibly low, or completely depleted. He probably walked towards her, pretending to congratulate her, while Emerald used her illusion ability to trick Yang. Yang attacked, and Mercury made it look like he was defending himself.

  From the crowd's perspective, Merc had no aura left to protect/heal himself, he wasn't expecting it, so he wasn't trying to block it, he was on the ground, and then Yang punched him pretty damn hard. It was less about a single punch to the knee and more about the (perceived) lack of sportsmanship behind it that resulted in a serious 'injury.'

  it'd be half uncle. Ruby and Yang are half sisters, they share a dad, but not a mom, so it's Ruby's half uncle. If Ruby had different dad and her dad married Yang's mom, then Qrow would be her step uncle, but Yang and Ruby share a parent, so they're half siblings.

Is this the first episode that didn't have a fight in it? First this volume I think. But hey, it got the plot moving:

The hunt is (potentially) back on for Yang's mom, who is seemingly of questionable allegiance. Pyrrah is increasingly conflicted over her decision, and might be about to seriously mess up Penny. And it looks like the cat's out of the bag, as Mercury has basically just revealed the truth about his evilness. Question is, where to go from here? Will Merc try to take on Ruby by himself? I feel like he might be outmatched, unless Cinder joins in.

I have to wonder about Penny. There's a lot of mystery surrounding her. She's a robot with an aura, which appears to make her sentient. Then there's the whole thing about the machine that transfers aura... I wonder if there's a connection? Like, maybe someone important was dying, and their aura was given to Penny to make her what she is? Just speculation, I'm interested in seeing her story develop.

  Mercury is probably one of the toughest fighters so far, he was trained by his dad assassin and killed him in a fight, took on a maiden and landed several hits, beat yatsuhashi AND coco by himself. I get the feeling he could easily take on a fully fledged huntsman by himself.

I think that Ruby might call for help. Or call her locker because last time she went out without the crescent rose it was in her flying locker. So she just has to call it to her or call her teammates. Or Ruby will use her semblance. With her semblance she can either run away or rapidly run around Mercury while attacking him

  It was clearly shone to be Emerald's semblance causing the hallucinations because during the fight with the Maiden the falses images (the little girl, a decoy of Emerald herself at one point) would disappear every time she was attacked. She also said in the ambulance something along the lines of "One mind I can handle, two is..." expressing that she could alter the way people perceived things.

  Penny is a machine that has been given a soul, Phyrrah has the semblance of polarity... As Mercury said, it won't end well. Most likely as to what we've seen from Phyrrahs sudden rage, it's safe to say that Penny might malfunction completely or is going to be blown up in the worst case scenario

  i agree with that penny thing, i was sort of thinking that when she was in the room with merc and em. not 2 mention, penny has a plan 2 stay in beacon. we dont know what it is yet... thing is, penny is sentiant, so i sort of doubt she can b "controlled" like an automaton.
  
  im more on cinders plan. im starting 2 think that this fight is made 2 really tick off the audience and get the grim more active. penny could get found out, that would tick the people off, and make james look bad, and we know james runs the military. i can easily c that being a riot maker from the people against the military, which would let the grim in2 vale so much easier. we'll c.
