I know Joel has a bit of a habit of pulling the mic away when he talks... so Joel, stop it.

This'll be funny when he inadvertenly does it again in the later episodes I'll binge watch.

As others have said. It was a little confusing to watch. There was too much going on, and no indication of who was who in game.

I think there is potential, but it really needs to be simplified down, and maybe ditch the fan players for the usual on camera talent.

I think this show is trying to do too much. It's too long, the lackluster audience seems unnecessary, the jokes and comedy from the fan players seems too forced, etc. It just ends up a jumbled mess and we are kind of just thrown straight into it.

Remember The Gauntlet? RTs gaming reality competition show? It wasn't perfect but it seemed to have a lot more direction and focus than this.

If you're going to use fans (i.e. not on-camera RT talent), a format like The Gauntlet Season 1 makes a lot of sense. We got to see said fans in interviews and then see a "draft phase" where the team captains (RT people) chose from said fans. It worked well because it gave us some idea of who those people were and why they were chosen instead of what this show does, just shoving a bunch of strangers we don't recognize in our face telling bad jokes during awkward, uncoordinated interview segments.

Personally, I enjoyed the Gauntlet S2 more than S1 and immensely more than this. I think something similar where you have teams from each of the different RT-related production companies, composed of players FROM those groups competing in not only gaming, but gaming-related relay races, tasks, and puzzles would be terrific. And don't make it a live show, but make it a pre-recorded show with 15-30 minute episodes. I think that would work.

This, though, this mess isn't working...

I watched what little I could and was not thrilled, same issues as others, confusing, audio bad, etc.

If it was boiled down to the players, the announcers, ditch the hinderance i.e. the gloves and chef hats, just let the players compete and interact with each other, announcers add their bit, it could be better, its.. too busy, too much trying to be done

Man, I really wanted to like this show, but boy was it rough. I think it would be better to have the talent competing rather than some random people who aren't even properly introduced. Having an better introduction of the rules at the beginning of the show would have been nice, too. But instead we were getting clarification after the first round? I get it was the first episode of a live show, but come on. And maybe it's because I don't like watching Overcooked in general, but I think there are way better competitive games that could have been chosen. Also, a lot of other comments have made a lot of really great points about the production side of things so I won't repeat them here.

All in all, not my cup of tea and I don't think I'll be watching regularly. I honestly might only watch the Game Attack weeks because they're really the only reason I tried watching this show. Hopefully all the criticism in the comments are just first episode hiccups and it can get better over time.

    Some critical but honest feedback:

    1. This took way too long to get started. Most of the first ten minutes could be cut out. It also needs more editing in general. There was a really bad time vs. entertainment ratio. Most of this show was just not entertaining to watch.

    2. The players weren't joking around or interacting with Sugar Pine 7/ Game Attack/ Funhaus when SP7/ GA/ FH were trying to joke around with them. They seemed really serious and stressed out. Letting them fool around/ not take the game too seriously would make this way more entertaining. I want to watch people play games to entertain, I don't want to watch them play to win.

    3. The audio is terrible. The Gauntlet Season Two is a good example of how to do this kind of competition audio better.

    4. The music is a bad fit. They might be trying to be tongue and cheek by having overly-dramatic music, but it just doesn't work.

    5. The poor lighting makes the arena look kind of clusterfucky. Good lighting would make a world of difference for the visuals.

    Some good stuff:

    1. Joel and Tyler's interactions.

I'm going to reserve judgement on the concept/general idea behind the show because it's hard to tell where that separates from the execution. The execution here is just not very good -- audio being the biggest problem. Hopefully their intentions shine through much better when those things are worked out.

    Problems in order of importance:

    1. The audio is soooo annoying to listen to. I would love to hear each team individual coach and their players

    2. How hard is it to put a logo on the screen to show which team is who. Its hard to feel engaged when I don't know who to watch and I'm not just going to blindly follow a team because I know them I also want to see how well their doing in the game.

    3. I don't give a fuck about the teams. "Oh cool its Funhaus and Sugar Pine 7, oh wait the talent aren't playing ok.. so who is playing? Arrr a few guys and a girl. Why should I care about them?" Like just knowing the names of the players before hand with it clearly being stated would be enough or maybe do some like promo stuff showing the strengths of the team and their damn NAMES.

    4. The intro of the teams is horrible. I feel like its just a shit version of WWE entrances but those are only good because their given time to hype the crowd and show boat a bit but in its current form they walk out do a little 'joke' then the music ends abruptly. Give the teams time to do their thing who gives a shit if the show takes longer than an hour to produce.

    5. Just going to reiterate my first point. Do a better job with audio, I'm not hear to watch the gameplay I'm hear to watch and listen to the players talk shit and get invested into them.

I would like to say that this episode is shaky and RT has a big fucking problem with that. I have heard on the podcast Patrick say that they have been testing the set and all that but maybe next time actually do a full pilot episode or just ask anyone at Achievement Hunter, who literally work a few minutes away from broadcast, why their lets plays work. They work because the audience cares about the talent not the game. In Football supporters don't want to just watch the game they watch it because their favourite team is playing. Its hard to pick a favourite team when your a fan of most of the brands so give me a reason to pick a favourite, actually make it a show, treat it like WWE for video games. I really hope that this 'season' wasn't filmed all at once but I am guessing it was which means RIP Tuesday Night Game Fight.

Sorry for being a dick but RT was made by the fans and Burnie often references the community feedback to be a big part of why RT is successful. I hope this is taken on board somehow, if not this season but the next one, if there is one.......

I'm seeing a lot of hate so I'll just throw my two cents in:

I liked the show, it wasn't perfect but I enjoyed it. It wasn't the classic Let's Play gameplay, it was competitive gameplay which is what everyone seems to be missing. Choose a team and watch them play, root for them, it's a lot of fun that way. The distractions weren't super interesting, I was mainly watching gameplay so I think that could use improvement. Maybe have distractions similar to Funhaus' James Vs Lawrence in that Nintendo game (can't remember the title of the video). I think people will love coaches regardless of their "role" so they can keep doing what they're doing!

Loved Joel & Tyler, they're awesome as always. Elyse was the highlight for talent. I was incredibly confused the first few rounds, I thought the talent would be playing. I'm not terribly familiar with GA or JTM so they could've been talent. I can see why broadcast was excited about this, it is E Sports. Even if they change nothing else, dear GOD mic the talent. I'll keep watching, the first ep is always shaky.

I think this series has potential, but there is A LOT that needs to be fixed. I love the idea of including community members but there is absolutely no introduction to who these members are and no chance in the gameplay for them to really show why they're good for this show. As others have said the light and sound design is also really chaotic and I felt like I spent most of the episode not knowing what I was supposed to focus on. New series often take a while to get rolling so I will definitely give it a shot but this first episode was kinda hard to follow and I hope there's more focus on the RT talent moving forward. On the positive side though the set is amazing for how small of a set they're working with and I love Joel and Tyler as the hosts. Rooster Teeth's ability to create network level productions with limited resources is amazing and I love you guys for continually trying something new and staying fresh for your members!

This is just total speculation on my part, but I think RT genuinely wants to be a full scale, Hollywood-esque production studio. And that is totally fine, they should want to keep growing and venturing into greater pastures. But I think all of that comes with a certain feel and demeanor that is foreign to the dedicated RT community.

That's why I think that shows like RTES/The More You Know, and projects like Lazer Team weren't well received; they didn't feel like Rooster Teeth, they felt like an RT imitation of mainstream content. I think that Game Fight is in that same category, it doesn't know what it is.

Some parts were too serious, and others were over the top and obnoxious. The lighting and audio were both poor. There was a lack of communication on the role that the community and the 'talent' would have in the show; I don't recall reading anywhere that the talent would just be coaches.

That being said, the show has promise. I would like to see it move from a live stream format, to a prerecorded/edited one. I would prefer if the actual game play was between the talent, not the community. And, as much as I love Joel and Tyler, I would prefer if only one of them was hosting. If the show wants to be more serious, pick Tyler; if it is to be more comedic, pick Joel.

I know I'm rambling, but I just wanted to offer my 2 cents. I worry that RT is starting to lose what the community likes, and what made them special to us in the first place.

Can we not have a formal tone? We all love RT and its let's play channels because of the personality and jokes the guys do in them. So when you have a show like this where it's trying to be "formal" with a "tongue and cheek" cliche jokes we've all heard from ESPN commentators, it really eliminates the personality traits that we all love. I would rather have them sit on a couch with NO AUDIENCE playing games while riffing with each other. Joel and Tyler should be in every episode like "hosts" and should choose a team every match and defend them or something, or they should take the clueless gamer approach and just shit on everything. I really really doubt anyone who's not an RT fanboy will actually sit for 50 minutes and watch this. I couldn't and I'm a sponsor.

Please change up the show. I dunno how a show about live-streaming community members playing overcooked being "coached" by one single RT talent made it into production. You guys are amazing, but I feel like you don't understand we watch your content for more seeing more stuff about RT and the people in it.

The only way I got through this was by skipping the actual gameplay, just to see who won each time. I was confident I wouldn't miss anything substantial.

I hoped the stuff in between would be enough to salvage the show. It was not, unfortunately.

The talent should be a much bigger part of the show or else what's the point of even bringing them in.

I would enjoy this show if it was actually competitive or if it was funny. Overcooked isn't a coach-able game so just hearing the personalities we like yelling random stuff like "get the onions!" isn't fun to watch. They either need to mic the people talking in the back, get more competitive games or do both.

As it stands, this seems like the coolest exhibit that could be at RTX. You and a few friends (or random attendees) are selected to go toe-to-toe against other fans with members of the Let's Play family as your coach and hype men (and women). Must be an awesome experience for them.

But as a show the idea just doesn't click. There are some really interesting ideas here that could turn into a wonderfully enjoyable program if used properly, though. Using talent instead of fans is a no-brainer. Having competitive let's plays between your favorite creators in that kind of environment with a crowd and commentators seems really cool. The graphics and set-up of the set are awesome! The way that Tyler introduced the game and broke down the tournament was really cool, and I think he would fit perfectly as a host. The camera work could definitely use some polish, and the editing felt rough. And my god the audio is horrendous.  Joel's persona seems a little out of place, though, if I'm honest. It made sense in the Gauntlet but it seemed so out of place here.

I really think this could be a cool concept and a show that I would look forward to watching every week, but as it is now? I'm going to pass :/

    A few things...

First of all, this was awkward and boring. It's too much like reality TV, change that if unless you want this to end up like RTES or Screenplay or Sportsball or Screenplay or any of those.

Second, get actual RT personalities playing, not Game Attack coaching a team playing JT Machinima (Still have no idea who that is.)

    Third, don't live stream it.

Fourth, edit it properly, have audio actually sorted out so the teams have separate channels and whatnot, this is where not livestreaming comes in.

And fifth, learn from what has worked in RT before. Make this more like the Gauntlet S2. Edit it, plan it properly, light scripting, record in advance, don't stream, and just maybe cut it down to something like 45 minutes.

Not going to rehash the tone of the feedback except to say, does anyone else feel like RT doesn't seem to know what the appeal of RT actually is? Why people love let's plays and the podcast and passed on Sportsball and RTES?

Someone somewhere in a position of influence desperately wants RT to be a cheap pay per view or reality TV channel, and I can't for the life of me figure out why.

Not what I was hoping for...Wish it was more organized. Being organized can still be fun, example of Gauntlet and DOOM .  Seems lots of time was put into the set but the execution of the battle was piss poor. Also when did anyone say anything about this being randoms playing and the team leaders being the people we really wanna watch just standing and yelling. Always a supporter of new things but sadly I think we have a flop here.

So maybe a little more structure is needed? lol I mean I see what was planned here and I love it!  Great concept, Tyler kicks ass! Joel is hilarious as always! but I think it could be scripted a little better? Like give the coaches microphones so we can hear them, maybe move the audience back a little so we can focus more on center stage. Make it so you can only use the distractions at the beginning of each of the rounds so the chaos is little more controlled. But all in all this has lots of potential and I really hope it succeeds! I could see the championship match at a live RTX or Lets Play Live! That would be sweet!
