Michael DeBakey died last Friday at the age of 99. He was one of the first to perform coronary artery bypass surgery, and in 1953 he performed the first successful carotid endarterectomy.

He invented a critical component that finally allowed open heart transplants possible, and was a pioneer in the creation of the artificial heart. He dramaticially improved wartime medicine, saving countless lives.

He performed over 50,000 surguries, and is creditied in saving 100 of thousands of lives due to his techniques and advances. He worked on several heads of state, and was performing surguries until the day he died.

When some damn reporterter dies, it's the end of the fucking world, though they are all parasites, but here is someone who really made a difference, and yet people like him are never remembered or properly honored.
