I was looking for a general opinion, mainly out of curiosity. I am 26 and I am just now going to try to learn to skate. Been interested for quite some time but really just watched events on tv, played the video games and things along that line. I always wanted to learn when I was younger but never could get a deck and had an overprotective mom. My question is this, am I to old to start? I don't think so but just was wondering what the general opinion was from people who are active skaters and have been for a while.
No man... It's never too late. Skateboarding is a means of expression and freedom. I'm 20 and still am getting people into skating... Skateboarding is almost like and addiction for me. Try to keep in mind that it takes a lot of time and commitment to get good at skating. Also don't be afraid to ask questions. Mike Vallely who is featured in the Tony Hawk games is actually a good friend of mine and has been for a while... Skateboarding can let u meet all kinds of different people... In my opinion... U should hit the park
Thanks for the advice. I am by no means expecting to be pullin 900's in 2 months. I am really lookin forward to buyin my first board just not quite sure what to get. I got a friend of mine who has been skating for awhile that I have been buggin for advice. I am really thinkin that I will be able to really get into it, for me it isn't gonna be about being the best. Although I am gonna wanna be good due to my competitive nature. I am lookin more at it is a way to escape, exercise, and not let myself get freakin old! Lol.
I skate probably too much ha. my legs are messed up but i still try to keep at it. I roll with a Alien Workshop, krux, red bones, and plain wheels. I'm working on fakie hardflips right now. They are fucking retarded man.
I got a city deck, Metropolitan White, with blind wheels . I'm not great at skateboarding, but I'm not bad. theres a skate park right beside my high school so I get alot a practice . not so much lately though, doc says I gotta let my ankle heal completely, (broke it around the begining of summer) which sucks
I'm in the same position as this brotha. Cept I've been skating on and off for most of my life. Just haven't really had any free time to really commit. Ever since I moved to NYC I've had an abundance of free time so I'm gonna try and get a new deck and get out there on the streets. I really wanna get back into this.
I miss skating but I just never had time to do it. All of my friends stopped too which makes it a buzzkill. I still get pumped though and do a trick or 2 every time I see a nice part or just a nice video of someone. Billy Marks, Mike Mo, and especially Steve Berra (well back when he was still at his prime), every time never fail to get me to want to jump down something.
