This question is somewhat baffling...If you meet the min specs than it will run. The game has no way of knowing if it is being run on a laptop or a desktop.
Source is a very powerful engine and from the very beginning was meant to run on anything, from low-end to high end. It will run on your laptop, should do quite nicely. With garry's mod, given it's sandbox nature can slow down any machine if you put too much shit in it. Say, a thousand cardboard boxes and a rocket....
Was to lazy to go through all 17 pages to see if this was in there, So if it is do tell and I will remove my post. If you like Half Life, You'll love this.
It's here. As Fritz wisely points out. Of course it is, It's the original classic on a modern engine... however, if you read some Hl2 mapping forums, it does suffer alot from "hype backlash" for many a reason. Key reason is impatience, ie; "It's not out, it's DEAD" and another reason lies in the fact that many of the guys in the team are somewhat out-spoken.
Granted, they all have MASSIVE amounts of talent and from what little media they do release, it's always professional quality. Especially their trailers. Holy fuck they were good.
Another good mod is for Battlefield 2142. It is a total conversion and turns the game into Star Wars. It is called First Strike. At least 2 servers run the mod and on Saturdays, they have community games where the devs and a ton of other people play. www.fsmod.com
NeoTokyo is by far the best mod I have ever played (HL2 Mod). Five years in the making and excellently executed. We could use more players on the servers and more publicity, so spread the word!
What about rugby 08 Mods? you know that these game is from 3 years ago,but fortunatly is a forum call The Rugby Forum(TRF) there are millions of mods...google it,and you'll find me,with the same profile...
Afraid of Monsters is a mod that I love despite the fact that I couldn't play it for more than 15 minutes at a time. It has some great scares and looks great even as a Half Life 1 mod.
Cry of Fear is also a mod for Half Life 1. It looks amazing. It's one of the ones I can't wait for.
Black Mesa is a mod for Half Life 2. It's basically just a waaay better looking version of Half Life Source.
Nightmare House 2 is just... amazingly fun. It's got some great scares, and plays really well. It's horribly named, and the first entry was terrible, but these guys randomly pulled out the best Half-Life 2 mod I've played yet. Don't bother playing Nightmare House #1, as they re-did it and put it in the second game as the prologue.
Some of its finer points: -Great voice acting (especially as far as mods go) -Genuinely interesting story and location. -The fucking creepiest gameplay events I've seen, from a retail game or mod.
Question: Has anyone ever thought of doing a "redvsblue" Halo mod? One that follows the events of the "redvsblue" story? I was thinking you could have it where you play as one of the red or blue characters, and it would start off with you playing them before they came to blood gulch at first. One could even make this a series of mods... since the rvb series spans all halo games. The idea of playing out the rvb story would be really cool to me. Maybe that makes me weird, but it's a thought.
I'm a Fallout 3 Modder. The current projects I'm working are D-Day, L455HF Prototype flight armor, and I'm working with some friends on a Starfox Mod. More information can be found at sammmersmod.webs.com (cause I'm too lazy to post all the information about the mods) =P
www.youtube.com/watch?v=dToRs1Jmg08 The final release for the conversion mod of Star Wars to Call of Duty 4 was released earlier this week. Looks pretty sweet. Anybody with Cod4 should try it out and see how it is... for me D:
