i guess i'm the only one who cares about this?
who cares that batman is going to get locked up in arkhem?
who cares that JASON FUCKIN' TODD is going to be batman?
who cares that wonder woman is going to be stripped of her lasso?
that donna troy is going to be the new wonder woman?

Why is no one talking about this? This is the biggest event in DC comics since Crisis on Infinite Earths, probably bigger!

That is precisely why I won't be reading it.

Look at all those comics. I can't afford to buy all those! And the story won't make as much sense if I don't. That's why I hate these huge events. At least with House of M, I can read just the 8 issues of the miniseries and get the idea behind the story.

Although, the 52 series looks interesting. If they can make it a dollar a comic, I'll probably read it.

I will look into this, but I doubt I will be able to get all of them....maybe I could pawn off a kid to a third world slave trade and then I could get all these issues

yeah, and there have been even more issues connecting to the story since. i have to say you are wrong though Jengaship. infinite crisis is much like house of m. look at house of m. it has the main 7 issue mini-series, and then a bunch of spin offs into spider-man, iron man, the incredible hulk, uncanny x-men, and so on. infinite crisis is no different. hell, half of those issue above only briefly mention things that tie into the crisis. the only things that are really important are:
identity crisis
countdown to infinite crisis
the omac project
rann/thanagar war
day of vengance
villains united
and of course, infinite crisis

all of those are mini-series, and none of them intertwine with any ongoing series. the only other thing you might need is the sacrifice story arc which spans through the 3 supes titles and wonder woman. it is crucial to the omac project.

other than that, none of those other issues really matter.

Batman is a detriment to society. He deserves to be locked up.

Most of the villains he fights only surface again to try and foil him.

you want enlightenment about the crisis?
well...i'll try to do it as simply as possible:

about a year and a half ago, an event ran through the DCU called 'identity crisis'. in this 7-issues mini-series, we inevitably discovered that in the past, several members of the jla have mind-wiped several villains in an attempt to keep their secret lives and identities safe. unfortunatly batman found out about this, and batman himself was ultimatly min-wiped of the incident. to bad batman found out... beyond that, the atom's wife went crazy and killed the elongated man's wife and indirectly killed off captain boomarang and tim drake's (robin III) father. she was locked in arkham.

since then, there was the earthshattering 80-page epic known as 'countdown to infinite crisis'. in this, the blue beetle finds out his warehouses were cleaned out, kord industries warehouses. someone stole tons apon tons of kryptonite. it seemed like nothing, and no one cared, but blue beetle thought there was more to it. he investigated with no one's help to inevitably end up dead at the hands of checkmate's black king, max lord. while all of this happened, we discover that the planets or rann and thanagar, best known for the warriors adam strange and hawkman respectivly, have gone into an interplanetary war up in space. all of earth's villains have come together to form one powerful group headed by Lex Luther called the society. the atom's wife has escaped from arkham and become eclipso, and has driven the recently bodyless spirit of vengance, the spectre, into thinking the world would be better without magic, so why not destroy all of it? also, probably the biggest issue is that of the OMAC project. in which, batman set up a defense sytem that has detailed information on every metahuman on earth in case they ever happen to turn on humanity. all because of a paranoia created from being mind-wiped. shucks. oh yeah, the black king hijacked the entire OMAC project from batman and plans to use it to take over the world, forgot that one.

splitting into four spin off mini-series called 'rann-thanagar war', 'villains united', 'day of vengance', and 'the OMAC project', all kinds of crazy happened. it was discovered that there was a secret intity really driving the space war, and with the help of a few green lanterns, adam strange and hawkman seem to have won, for now at least. a stubborn group of nobody villains formed the secret six to rebel against Luthor's society, lead by a mysterious Mockingbird, we'll see what happens there tomorrow. the spectre went nuts, killing the wizard shazam. eclipso was sent to orbit the sun for all eternity as it seems the battle agaisnt the spectre has really just begun. oh yeah, thousands of metas are dead now because of the OMACs which sweap the planet. wonder woman snapped max lord's neck t save superman, and now he doesn't trust her. and with no one trusting batman for creating OMAC, the trinity is broken and the jla is no more.

welcome to INFINITE CRISIS.
it all starts tomorrow.

hope i didnt miss anything.

And don't forget to read Villains United #6 first! I've a funny feeling that that is going to be very important in the lead in to Infinite Crisis (especially if the preview in Wizard magazine of a few months ago was anything to go by)...

THE CRISIS HAS BEGUN!!!

it all hits the comic stands today. everyone go out and buy. and yes, most definatly read villains united #6 first. wow, that was great, and such an awesome twist that plays into the crisis.

no, joker is not part of the six. hell, i don't even know if he's involved in the criss. i havn't seen him anywhere. i think he's locked up in arkham.

Infinite Crisis was awesome. Now I am almost a complete comic n00b. I've read all of the Infinite Crisis Minis plus Identity Crisis plus pretty much what ever else theLPgoonie mentioned in his crisis enlightenment, but that's pretty much all. So was I the only one who didn't exactly get the last page of Infinite Crisis?

I never said there weren't spinoff series. What I said was that you don't need to read them to understand the story. From what I've read and heart about Infitine Crisis, if you don't know what the OMACs are or have any familiarity with original Crisis, then good luck understanding any of it. Dan DiDidio or whatever his name is said as much himself.

Point is, these big, continuity heavy events aren't what comics need to attract new readers.

Alexander Luthor, the benevolent one from the original Crisis series is the Mockingbird?

That was what I thought, but I am actually thinking it is another Earth's version, someone who found out about the original crisis beforehand and jumped ship (and Earth) before his planet was destroyed. No telling how long he has been on DC-Earth.
If anyone wants to discuss this on a comic-based board, I just started DC Crisis, a yahoo group...

In reply to sabretoothvc, #20:

I don't think he is... I think that the guy who is in charge of the Secret Society (in Villains United) is the alternate version, and Mockingbird is our Luthor, after all, he's the guy with the big battle armour (as seen in Superman/Batman and now in Supergirl as well).

But what puzzles me is Calculator's involvement with the Secret Society, he's acting as their information guy - yet in recent issues of Supergirl he is also giving our Luthor information (and learning about the different types of Kryptonite at the end of issue 2). How can he of all people not know that there are two of them out there?

Oh yeah, that was good. The idea of them holing up in the House of Secrets was quite a good one too, very creative.

I hear that there are going to be one-shots of all of the mini-series leading up to Infinite Crisis, so maybe they will tie up all the other little loose ends...

That'd be nice. Did any one else not really like the Rann-Thanagar War mini? Especially compared to the others.

In my oppinion the minis in order of best to worst were:
The OMAC Project
Villains United
Day of Vengeance
The Rann-Thanagar War

I did like in Day of Vengeance how Jean Loring became Eclipso, and I liked the idea, but I didn't know any of the characters except for Spectre.

I didn't know most of the main characters in Day of Vengeance either... And I also agree that Jean Loring becoming Eclipso was a really interesting development.
