I've never really liked these guys before , but I listened to my Brother in law's greatest hits album and was totally blown away. My favorite song on it is Motorcycle Emptiness. I find it quite sad. In fact I was pretty depressed after hearing the album.
I love the manics - they are quite literally my favourite band ever.
Motorcycle emptiness is an abosolute classic, and widely hailed by many as their best work. I prefer motown junk, myself, but then I do own the (relatively) rare 12".
do you mean these days, or way back when... they have had quite a few images;
Generation Terrorists - lipstick, glamour days
Gold Against the Soul - pretty much the same, but with even worse hair!
Holy Bible - faux military. Anyone remeber James in the Faster Video? When MTV2 wasnt shit like it is now, they used to have a viewers choose the hour - I did one once and it had three manics songs in it. Fastar was one of them, and Revol I think.
Everything Must Go to Now - One man short (forever delayed - Richie Edwards) and pretty casually dressed. the only difference really is that James is a little, er, plumper these days.
My favourite has to the Holy Bible days - apart from that album being one of the best ever, They looked cool. Good old Saun with his UN peacekeeper blue beret.
Whats everyones favourite albums then? To totally contradict what I said above mine is generation terrorists.
he did for the millenium gig, wich I still think wasnt that long ago (even though it was five years).
The Holy Bible is one of the best albums ever, it is pitch perfect in the way it was written and produced, wich makes a refreshing change folowing on from Gold Against the Soul wich was overproduced to death (shame, there are some wonderful songs on it - Roses in the Hospital, for one).
The Richey thing is a difficult one - to be honest, I dont think they would have been to similar to what they are now, and I also doubt they would have had the huge sucsess either - I know they used some of richeys lyrics on Everything Must Go, but it is such a departure musically, and it would have been a shame not to have had Everything Must Go.
May be a bit out of date, but their best album by far is Gold Against The Soul, not a personal fav of the band, but it just rocks as far as I'm concerned. And Ritchie is dead before anybody suggests otherwise!
