Ok, I know people usually post single things, and it gets kinda annoying keeping up with all the single issues. So... Post your xbox problems here and see if there is someone that can help you. Hell I love to fix busted Xboxes so I will help the best I can Here is some helpful links to you people who know what you are doing if you want to replace certain parts to your Xbox Llamma's Xbox page Rich's Xbox parts XPS Mods (Cases mostly, Temporarily closed) Llamma's Xbox repair tutorials And lets not forget everything on the tutorials of Xbox-Scene
That primarily has to do with a crap DVD drive. I've noticed that Halo 2 seems a bit touchy anyways. I actually wonder if it times out after a while. Try cleaning the dvd laser I suppose.
And I know the 360 is just around the corner. hever there are people (like me) who will still keep the Xbox or are not going to get the 360 right off the bat
Nice timing. My xbox has been collecting dust all summer while I've been enjoying... extra work. Anywho... A friend of mine and I were supposed to start playing again this weekend for the first time in a while. I got a text message at 10am saying "My XBox just caught fire". Evidently he turned it on and went to the bathroom to get ready. While he was in there, the smoke detector went off. So much for that power supply. He's decided to just say screw it and wait for the 360, but he still has to get his Halo2 out! Too funny. I mean sad. Eh, he gets paid about twice as much as I do, so he can afford it.
Fucking faggots from M$, they send you a cheap ass "band aid" replacement power cord to fix their faulty and dangerous power supplies. I've fixed a few power supplies that the solder points have come loose and were sparking and shorting.
Yeah its just the solder points. Mostly that shit comes off from just unplugging it and plugging it back in all the time The powersupply can be fixed... usually. if not you can get another one for pretty cheap, or find yourself the 8 dollar Xbox ATX to PC ATX converter and use a pc power supply
The RIng of Light on mine started flashing green and red 3 months ago. I've done evaluating of my own, and I think it's the soundtracks that's been causing the problem, but I can't be sure. Most of the time it was fine, but then it flashed green and red again yesterday. It froze when I was playing soundtracks - it never has a problem when I'm playing games. So I unplugged it, waited 5 minutes, plugged it back in, and it was fine. I deleted every single one of my soundtracks - freed up more than 225,000 blocks, so let's see if that helps.
oh ok never mind this isnt christmas light problems
Remember if your xbox also gives an error code, here is a list of what they do (Taken from Llamma's site, posted by Superfro) Description: When you attempt to boot, a 'you need service' message comes up, and has a LED style number on the top left hand corner. Here is what they mean. Disclaimer: This information is a believed to be correct, should be as close as it gets; Also: Bootloader stuff you should never see, since if it fails kernel doesn't boot. (thus you see no message) Code Who sets it - Description 0 - any - No error (duh) 1 - bootldr - Unknown exactly, something to do with checking the motherboard 2 - bootldr - Eeprom check failed 3 - bootldr - ??/not used 4 - bootldr - Ram check failed 5 - kernel - HDD not locked (retail bioses require the hd to be locked) 6 - kernel - Cannot unlock HDD 7 - kernel - HDD timeout 8 - kernel - No HDD found 9 - kernel - HDD parameters (PIO/DMA/or size {debug}, certain size minimum is required for debug) 10 - kernel - DVD timeout 11 - kernel - No DVD Found 12 - kernel - DVD parameters (PIO/DMA) 13 - kernel - Dashboard launch fail (due to missing/bad key, or anything else that would prevent it from running) and the dashboard didn't specify why it failed. 14 - dashboard - Error loading dashboard (dashboard generic error) 15 - - ??/not used 16 - dashboard - Other files to do with dashboard / dashboard settings (specific dashboard error) 17 - - ??/not used 18 - - ??/not used 19 - - ??/not used 20 - kernel - The dashboard was attempted to load and failed; It was a cold boot, and the dashboard didn't specify why it failed, but it (for some reason) needed to be noted that the dvd passed the challenge/response authentication 21 - anywhere - This error says that the machine was booted to display a error, basically someone told the machine to reboot (or launch a xbe) with this flag, and the error code just means its been rebooted by the flag In closing: 21 was the highest number I could find, I don't think any thing is past that. And for the unknown ones, I couldn't find any reference to them at all, I don't believe they are used. Greets to everyone (who is contributing) in the homebrew scene. Tutorial written by : Superfro
Problem with a lot of xbox problems are is that if you are not willing to open up the case, the problem will not get fixed. I do a lot of of Xbox repair as well (i like it. Its fun) so give me a pm if interested at all
Becareful with that tweaking of the DVD, its kinda tricky. If you cant get your answers here then definetly check out xbox-scene and the forums their. You can find all the answers you could ever need there.
thats called a "christmas light syndrome" Your Xbox cannot load the BIOS for some reason. There is a way to fix that.... it's either because of a broken trace or another reason........ A lot of these problems come from a bad modchip install (no talky about that here though! PM me) have anyof you actually opened the xbox to peak inside?
For some reason, Call of Duty doesn't work well on my xbox. It might be the disk though. Also, I have the crappy drive (forget the company name) that fails most often.
