Do American PC games work on European computers?
Ps: i searched for a topic like this 4 times with different keywords, and i didnt find one, so sorry if there is one already.

I have A dell with a pentium 4 proccesor, 120 gigs memory, and 1 gb ram, apart from that i do not know what i have. I want to buy Halo PC off of an american website (20$) instead of european websites (€40-45) so its almost as much as one third the price if the american sold version works on my pc. Thank you in advance to anybody who helps me!

No, cuz American pcs use NFTS file systems and Europe uses PAL file systems.

CD's will, DVD's won't. Consoles won't.

It all depends on the region code of the CD, DVD or whatever. Some countries, like asia region all have the same region code which is why games or whatever will work on hardware built for that region. Some games don't have region encoding and will work anywhere however. There is a really good website somewhere that shows all the regions and tells you what number they are... but I haven't been able to find it again >.<.

Basically I wouldn't expect an American bought game to work in any part of Europe. ;)

Are you thinking of PAL and NTSC television display formats?

most games would work due to the fact that, most operating systems are microsoft and operating systems are designed to translate data for your compouter can understand a run it, You can change your computer to french, Spanish, German etc.

PC games will work without problem... I've bought PC (not console) games in the US,Germany and Hungary (both in CD and DVD formats) and used them in Mexico without trouble...

Yes they will. I have taken games with me to Greece so my cousins could play. I also bought them Prince of Persia SOT and Rome: Total War for them and they work.

As far as I know any PC game will work on anywhere in the world. They're not region encoded. I regularly get my dad to bring me back cheap games from the US and they al work. However I think its a different matter with MMORPGs I'm not sure

Region encoding applies only to DVD movies. You should be able to play any Windows game on any machine that runs windows regardless of the langauge. However some games might check to see if you have certain languages installed in order to run. In order to play MMORPGs, most of them will require CD-keys to be attached to your account, on top of that you need to pay using credit cards and such, so you need to have the right curency to play.

yo most European games will run in US systems due to the fact they use the same type of op system just set for there langauge, 97% of the op systems out there are Microsoft. also i hook up to my frends in spain and germany and we chat and play games and they use europeans systems, and are op systems translate the electrical data transmissions for are computers can understand it, well actually the ethernet translates it to signals it the comp can understand and then the op system does the rest of the translating if translating is required, how ever there are games that will not work, and all my freinds speak english, also i have spanish halo on my comp, which actally sucks cause i cant understand it (i speak German as a second langauge)
