I really enjoyed this series, I'm really curious as to how the next series is going to play out but I have a theory for the next 3 seasons (I know it's renewed for 8 seasons but I think there's too much to happen next season so I think it'l be 10)
Not confirmed, just what I think will happen.. season 8 finale - Robyn and Barney wedding Season 9 finale - Ted meets the mother Season 10 finale - Teds wedding What do you guys think?

I think Ted will marry Barneys sister, he might meet her at the wedding (season 8 finale) but I don't know, I think that's a lot to happen in 1 finale. Barneys dad mentioned he has a daughter in college which means she could have been in the eco 101 class. I think this would be spectacularly awesome because then Ted and Barney would become literal bros.
I really enjoyed the last season and all of the seasons up until now but I think by the end of the next season we should have wrapped up how Barney ends up with Robin and have Ted meet the mother. That way if they ARE renewed for a ninth season then they can show Ted with the mother and build on it that way but if not then at least we get some closure on the whole story.
I really think the key part of the show is that it should end when he meets the mother, not his wedding but I guess they have other plans considering the popularity. I like the show, but I thought the newest season was more depressing than comedy. I'm thinking of re-watching the whole show soon though.
I'm sure this has been posted before, but wouldn't you love your life to be like the show is portrayed? Having a couple's friend, a player friend like Barney, and that girl you think you like but don't, Robin, I don't know I would just love to grow up like Ted did.
Rumor has it that the odds are in favor of a ninth season renewal. And that Bays and Thomas have a plan for the upcoming season being the final, as well as the ninth being the final.
I can't really blame him. Other than NPH, he's done the most outside of HIMYM in recent years. He seems to be a movie guy. I can see him want to get a wider variety of credits instead of getting roped into a ninth year of his sitcom.
I'm hoping that we do get to see Ted get married to whoever the Mother is before the show officially ends. It would be a major cop out if he introduced himself to her, and the whole show finished with "And that, kids, is How I Met Your Mother". I don't think that they won't do it justice, but I always have that nagging feeling that it'll end on average terms.
There's no denying that it's an underrated show though. There's been some absolutely hilarious episodes over the years, and Barney's character (especially the first 4/5 seasons) is one of the greater modern day TV characters made.
