Anyways...yeah, Neon Genesis Evangelion is by far the greatist anime series of all time.(in my personal oppinion in any case) and for the past couple years i've done quite alot of research on there "SO called" Live action movie. I like what i'm seeing on the artwork for it thus far. And they have picked a good cast to work on it for the special effects. But unfortunantly i do have one minor problem with this: "How do they plan on making a live action Evangelion Movie with so much in it: Gathering the children, Revealing the secret organization of N.E.R.V. The explaing of AT fields and what they are. What the Evangelions really are, having the cihldrens own personalities develope and show, Introducing every last character, Massive explosion, The defeat of 17 Angels(Correct me if i'm wrong), introducing the fourth and fifth child, having them both die, Explaining what Seele is, and... The Human Instrumentallity Project!"
*sighs* There is just no way you can put all of that into a two and half to three hour film. Especially when they were barely able to fit that into a 26 episode anime series and two movies: (or ulternate endings how ever you see it.) 1.) Neon Genesis Evangelion Death and Rebirth. and 2.) Neon Genesis Evangelion The End of Evangelion.
Not to mention one other factor what ending are they going to choose to end the movies in!?!?! The ending shown in the series or are they gonna go more complicated and go with the ones shown in Neon Genesis Death and Rebirth and The End of Evangelion?
I just don't know what to think of this, i really don't. I personally think they would need at least 6 movies to even remotely come close to staying true to the series. I personally think they should go one movie at a time, only having the defeat of maybe the first two to three angels and see how the fans react to it first. (Yes i'm aware of the situation of the actors growing old when they are supposed to be 14 year old children.) But i just don't want them to ruin this.
And the reason i post this on the forum is because i was wondering if anyone else feels the same way about this as i do? Well, please leave comments and responces, and thanks for your time.
well I feel for you by no stretch is EV my favorate, it was one of the first I ever saw and made no sence.. I watched it a few months later and it still was just too random.. but I'v been thinking about it latly and think I'll watch it again when I get back to the states... as for the movie.. ya they're polly just gonna botch it lots of montoges is what it looks like.. but you never know.. it's prolly not even going to be the whole story... prolly either just an opener.. or a live action alt ending... or like i said,,, a montage of the series... either way I'll prolly still get it.. or at least watch it once to see how it turns out I watch Initial D (yes the anamation is terrible but the story rocks) and I watched the live-action not to long back it was true enough to the series and the manga but it still didn't quite sit right... I mean after watching all the anime seeing it in live action kinda ruined some aspects.. I fear EV might be the same. but like I said, only one way to find out.. watch it and see for myself =-)
It'll suck unless action is taken. I plan on gathering the otaku from the main Neon Genesis Evangelion thread and lead them in an attack to capture WETA, Gainax, and ADV (the three companies in charge of EVA Live Action). Then we will kidnap Anno and force him to work on the project. If all goes according to plan, it will be a masterpiece of a story spanned out into a quadrilogy.
"Though i like the idea, i still wouldn't take that serious of action. What would be the point, were gonna force the creater of our favorite anime series and force him to do something against his own will? What kind of fans would that make us?" I like Weta's cocept art for the most part, and ADV produces some of my all time favorite anime. What purpose would this serve?
Getting, a little serious, I've heard that the movie will use only the first episodes of the show (10 or so)... This way they´ll have more time to develop the plot... If they do the movie this way, it´s possible that they wait to see if it´s profitable to make a couple of sequels
Anyway, I think this movie it´s gonna suck... but i'll be standing on line to watch it
PS: there´s a thread for this movie on "Movies" section...
Lol, i've heard up to the first four episodes(been researching all weekend on it) They still don't know what ending they would use, not to mention some of the scenes with Rei could be counted as child pornography so it could be fairly difficult. (not reallly but i can understand that issue, considering Rei is supposed to be the age of 14) Not to mention, that I'm against forcing people to do things against there will. That would not be right having Anno do it if he fudimentally and universally doesn't want to. I stand by that, and i'll keep it that way.
((I wasn't just about to search the forums for one so i made one of my own. Plus it belongs in the anime forum anyways, it is anime related. *shrugs*))
In reply to Nomedtac, #6: Hehehe... you´ve got a point there... Of course it is just a joke (well, I hope so).
The problem is that Anno is the one and only mastermind behind Evangelion... he managed every detail of the production, he wrote it and produced it... so nobody knows the series as he does (and no one understands it except him). How can this movie be good if the father of the series is not working on it?
(What exactly do you mean try to find someone that looks young?)
and to Bauglir now: "I'm aware he is the only father figure to Evangelion, and i would love to have him work on it as well. But he has already given his say in it and no matter how many complaints he gets, i doubt he'll change his mind. I mean, even if we do get enough people to complain think of how complex this series is, his thoughts and answers could be as deep as the series itself. Bug him enough and he may just send him into Berserker mode."
I don't know but i would like to know what he looks like in berserker mode myself.
Who said what, he wouldn't do it? He actually said it to the american company himself when they asked him to do it. So it isn't like they havent tried i'm sure. I bet he still gets fan mail all the time regarding this topic, but i do so seriouslly doubt he'll go through with it know matter how many fans want him to do it.
It's going to suck. As brilliant as Anno is, I think he would have trouble making Eva into a movie, that’s probably why he’s not doing it in the first place, he would have to change to much. Sniper787: Nice Site.
i hope it makes more sense then the other EVANGELION movie. that still confuses the shit out of me to this very day....seriously. giant pigeons with chick heads comin out of their mouths and a bunch of other freaky shit....man that was more fucked up then PINK FLOYD'S THE WALL.
