I just bought Sims 2 "Open for Business" I've been checking out all the various businesses and my favorite so far has to be the salon and spa business because you can give people makeovers and make them look worse than when they came in and then watch their reaction when they freak-out. It's so funny LOL
So far I've opened a robot shop, a restruant, a toy store, a bakery, and a florists. My fav, was the robot shop, it's just something you don't come across everyday.
There's still so many possibilities though, it's so addictive!
I'm building a giant mall with 4 bowling lanes, a booth to buy small gadgets (must have University), 4 video game shelfs, 6 bookcases, a robot and toy building area, and a whole leveled restuarant, but it's not complete yet I still want to add another floor and maybe a pool area.
I have a little bit of everything in my shop. I am selling food and toys and kitchen stuff. I am still getting use to the new stuff and how everything works. Its really cool running my own business, lol.
I sell furniture, that'smy main business area, furniture and I also have a restauraunt. It's amazing, the difference between the old sims, and the new ones. But I like the idea of running my own business, good fun!
thanks for the comment I'll probaly upload to thesims2.com when I'm done, but I haven't gotten the chance to finish because my computer lags when using ts2.
try terminating any unnecessary backgound tasks and lowering the resolution on the graphs - turn all settings to low if your not going for perfect hi-res quality.... doing this will speed up game play a bit for you..
My first store was a bakery, but the inventory glitch shut that down fairly quickly. Now I have a toy-store and another one of my Sims runs a coffee shop. By the way, does anyone known when we can expect a patch for Open?
I opened up a robot/flower/toy shop, it's making about $500 a day, not bad for all the expenses paid making the inventory... I can make Servos, lovely little machines Servos...
Yeah, I don't know what that inventory glitch is all about.
The robot shop really rakes in the dough, but it takes a lot to get it set up properly. If you can get a gold badge in robot making, you can build Servo, the robot maid from The Sims. You can activate him, and he becomes just like a real Sim, except he doesn't eat, use the bathroom, and has no comfort score. He has a "power" bar instead of energy, and you can recharge him using solar power, or just sleeping in a bed. But, better yet, if you don't activate, you can sell him for §6,000 in buy mode, and significantly more in a shop. Start at average price (sells for about §6800 I think, costs §3000 to make) and as you get higher business ranks, put them into the "perception" ability. When you max that out and have the "Sell... Dazzle" action, you can sell Servos easily for "Rediculously expensive," which is over §10,000. Best yet, once you get some cash flowing, you can keep a Servo in your inventory here and there, activate him/her, and have them work on making Servos too (they need to get the gold badge too, though). Long story short, once i managed to get a shop set up w/ two Sims (one cashier, one Sales/restock), and six Servos making Servos, I was raking in like §50,000 a day. And, Servos cannot die, ever. So, they'll be in your family forever, unless you move them out. Makes it easy to just hand the business over to a child, I've grown quite a fortune this way. And it's all completely honest, no cheats needed. Just have to watch the Fun, Social and Power bars for the Servos, and you're pretty much set.
The only real drawback is how long it takes to get it set up. I came up with the idea, andstarted a new family just to try it out. Just two sims, §20,000 to start. I think they were elders by the time I had the shop producing to the full extent I wanted.
That's the one big problem i see with setting a business up... and seeing as my sims were already elders when I decided to start my robot shop, I am now almost completely relying on the Elixir of Life aspiration rewards... I have used 4 of them on my sims... Aging is a brutal thing.
I have a toy store. No big deal... but it's running fairly smoothly so far. I haven't gotten to play much in awhile though due to work and classes. Next I think I'll be opening a Salon or something.
I have pretty much made a Flower Shop, then a kind of General store with different bunches of goods. I haven't played it to much since I basically just make movies and shows with the game. I really want to try out the Salon and Restaurant though :D
I made a story about a guy who falls inlove with his servo, except everyone in the neighborhood hated him because he was with a robot. before he died and stuff, I made an attic that can only be accesed by elevator and door, Him only!. And tried to make 200 servos before he died. fill the attic with servos. Then after he died. I said he gave the key to the servo( Lust). When he had one last wish to give to Lust. Activate all the servos. Then attack the entire neighborhood, because the guy suffered so much.
First I tried a toy store but that made no money, then I tried a nightclub but people wanted food and that took too much management. Then I opened a Salon but I drove away ALL my customers.
Finally, I opened up a car dealership. It's definately the way to go. There's no restocking time because you only need to sell about four cars at a time and it brings in heaps of money. Also, it's easily managed and gains customer stars really really quickly. It's actually kinda fun. I love making money, even making Simoleons feels satisfying.
Then a bug got my Sim stuck on the lot and the only way to get her off and back home is to kill her and ressurect her at home. But I don't know if that'll lose her the business. So now I've stopped playing the Sims until a patch comes out to fix all the bugs.. which will never happen... so I guess I'll never play... which is probably a good thing, that game isn't all that fun.
My mall that I talked about earlier was somewhat a success tried adding elevators but don't know how to build them that well also because one of the bowling alleys was next to a wall it wouldn't let me put the wall up on that side (how odd).
