I was really hoping a thread like this would be somewhere online and luckily it's right here at RoosterTeeth.

I remember seeing some movie on cable a while back where these two kids dig a hole in their backyard and one kid's dog dies so they give it to his brother to take to the vet but it's closed so he buries it in the hole but monsters or something come out and the kids discover the only way to get rid of them is to play a record backwards.

I feel terrible about that run-on sentence but that's all I can remember.

"The Gate", sir.

-fun fact; Stephen Dorff (the bad guy from the first "Blade") was one of the main character kids in that flick

Okay, so this might be a bit confusing [I'm probably the worst 'explainer' ever]

I watched a movie many years ago with my dad, and even he doesn't know the name of it. It was an oldish movie, but not in black and white. The special effects were hilariously bad. It was about this man who was trying to save this woman. The horses in the movie could go really fast apparently, and I think they could go up walls. I'm not sure though, so don't let this throw you off. When the man got to where the girl was being held, he used a ninja-star-ish weapon on this apeish beast, and I think when the man and woman kissed, they had the ability to conjure and control fire?

This is all sounding like a weird dream, but I swear its a movie, and the fact that I don't know the name is slowly killing me inside!

chances are you're talking about Krull, which is kind of a cult classic in the fantasy world. special effects definitely weren't that bad, especially for its time.

lol, I happen to just notice the notification (makes sense), I suppose, as I was skimming RT at the time and knew the movie....seems to be one of the only horror movies that make it into normal cable for some reason...too campy to have to edit much? kinda like Gremlins?

Oh my gosh, yes! Thank you! I have literally been searching for that movie for YEARS. I know they were good for their time, but they were a bit far out there for me. Maybe it's just the way I remember it since I was a little kid when I first watched it, which was probably in 2006 or something, so the effects were definitely good for 1983, but I suppose by then I was already used to different special effects and stuff.

Thank you so much, this made my life better. I'm not even joking.

I don't have a lot of solid info on this movie, just a couple scenes I remember, so here goes:
The story revolves around this guy and girl who are in love and something happens. She runs into a bad boy who she starts to fall for and it is in a tropical setting (it's not Pirates of the Caribbean). At one point the girl's love is thrown overboard some ship and he is standing on a piece of coral in the middle of the ocean waiting to be rescued.

The one scene I can remeber the most is the good guy gets caught by whoever the bad guys are and is put on their battleship (its an old style battleship painted white). The girl and the bad boy lead a rescue and get him off. While rescueing him they place a cannon shell in the traversing ring of the main gun. As the make their escape some sailor is cranking on a wheel to turn the cannon so they can fire on them. The turret stops turning just before it would set off the shell, but the sailor wipes off some sweat and leans on the wheel setting off the round which blows up the ship. The evil guy of the film was standing on top of the turret (I believe) and is next seen crawling to shore blackend with his clothes in rags. The lovers are reunited on the bad boy's ship and she returns to her original love while thanking the bad boy for all he has done.

This has been bothering me for a couple years and I would love to know what it is.

When it was made: I believe the 90's
Where it was set: its tropical, probably the caribbean. I would even guess possibly cuba or jamiaca
As for who was in it: Not a clue. I thought Michael Wincott was the bad guy but can't find any movie that fits this description.

Ok, so there's this classic B&W scifi movie about a guy who is perfecting teleportation. As the movie progresses, he's been transporting inanimate objects between two chambers. He decides he's been successful so far and decides to try with an animal, so he uses his cat. As the teleportation is in progress, the power goes out or some such thing, and the cat gets stuck in the wires between the machine. For the rest of the movie, you can hear the cat meowing from within the wires. It's a comedy, if I'm not mistaken.

Looks like you're thinking of the 1958 version of The Fly. Here's a clip of him attempting to teleport the cat, which perfectly matches what you described, except it's in color.

Ok, now this one is kind of a long-shot because it is based off a very vague memory from years ago, so it may not even exist.

From what I remember, it was kind of like 2001: A Space Odyssey but in a house. It was about an AI in a home some time in the future that ended up becoming evil and the family had to shut it down in the end. It was a kid's movie also.

If this possibly exists, and you know it, major thanks to you.

I'm going to bring this one up again because there may be some new people watching this thread that didn't see this post the first time.

In reply to Jonus, #1435:
Here's one that came to me recently:

I saw the movie on tv, but not sure if it was made-for-tv. It was about a Godzilla-esque monster in a Caribbean-esque setting. I recall it coming out of the water onto a beach. Most of it seemed to happen at night. There was one main monster, and a smaller one that I think some kids maybe discovered in the jungle. Then there turned out to be a bigger one, and then another bigger one, and then I think there was another massive one that rose up out of the ocean and it was like "ok, this is getting ridiculous".

No idea what it could've been called, and I don't think there were any recognizable actors (or at least not recognizable to me at the time). The monster looked like the rebooted Godzilla, but more colourful. Brighter green with maybe some orange and yellow. This would be from mid '90s-2000.

I have no real emotional attachment to this film, but I thought it would be good for a laugh to find it again.

Have you tried Wikipedia's list of monster movies?

No guarantees it will be listed, but it can't hurt to look.
Even if you can't remember the title, a quit peruse might evoke a memory.

Was wondering, there was a movie mentioned in an RT podcast recently and one of the RT staff went and watched it twice. I know it's a bit vague, but anyone know which movie they were talking about?

A live action movie from the 80s or 90s. A history teacher takes his summer school kids on the wagon trail. Pretty crappy movie, but I can't remember what it is called.

It might be Kidz in the Wood. I remember Alfonso Ribeiro was in it and it dealt with them on the Oregon Trail.
