Well it definitely sounds like something James Paterson writes.
Try Maximum Ride
And if that's not it check his other series' he writes in that mind frame often.

Hi, I've been searching for a book for years that I cannot remember the name of, I have just become a sponser and found this thread so thought I should give it a go.

I read alot of horror/sci fi books. My fave authors being Christopher Pike and Dean Koontz. So I think it may be an author similar to these guys.

This book was about a group of teenagers who go camping. Somehow they end up with powers and they start dieing one by one. A couple of powers I remember were healing, control of fire and mind control.
They try to figure out who or what is killing them and in the end you find out that the girl with mind control is making them kill eachother although I do not remember why. I remember that she forces one of the people who finds her out to shoot him/herself in the leg.

For a long time I thought it was a Christopher Pike book, but I now own all of his adult fiction books and it is not him.

If anyone is able to help it would be much appreciated.

Since I seem to be on a role here.
Off the top of my head I'd say it's Book two of the Dark vision trilogy
Of course that's without character/faction names or various other details that would separate it from a host of other options.

Thanks very much I will have a look. Unfortunately I read this book a good 8-10 years ago so I do not remember any of the names.

After reading into the page you linked, I do not think this was the book. Although they do sound good and I will look into getting them.

If it helps I think the person who could heal was a girl in a wheelchair.. however I'm not 100% on this.

Thanks for your help! I now have some new books to look into reading

Okay, so this is actually a short story, not a book, but I'm hoping that's okay. It's a Snow White variation that I read a while back and now can't find anywhere. It would probably help if I could remember more details, but here's what I do remember:

Snow White and the prince were actually kind of evil in the story. I'm not sure about the events leading up to this, but the Queen removed Snow White's heart and had her placed in the forest (I think she was still alive, somehow). The prince found her, set her free, and gave her back her heart. He liked Snow White because she was deathly cold and pale (hinting at necrophilia, but never outright stating it). At the end the Queen was declared an evil witch, shaved, and thrown into a fire.

It was a really bizarre story, but I really enjoyed it and would be extremely grateful to anyone who could help me find it!!

So, jumping in without triple checking it's been done before,

The magician's apprentance? Black background with a fire? a candle? A flaming skull? By Jack... Chandler? It had to have been one of the first urban fantisies I'd ever read, before 2000. Um, it starts with a computer scientest student in a hot tub, making deals with a succubuss, trying to learn magic, running away from paranormal monsters, and then uses energy to beat the baddie? I'm guessing about all of this, of course, it was more then twelve years ago.

There was a quadrilogy I read as a child/young teenager called the ___ series.

Bear with me, now. The series had a fantasy setting and revolved around an adventurer hunting down four artifacts: the Shield of ___, the Sword of ___ and so on. All else I can remember is that the covers featured these artifacts on the cover with each book having a different, bright colour (Sword was blue, Shield was red, I think).

I believe the series you're looking for might be the series called "Sword, Shield and Crown" by Hilari Bell. Shield of Stars, Sword of Waters, and Crown of Earth are the books.

Thanks for the effort, but it's not that. There were definitely four books in the series.

Okay, so the book I'm looking for I seem to remember was a series of short stories... Anyways, in one this guy was going to commit suicide on the condition that while he was walking to the edge to jump off that if one person smiled at him he wouldn't do it. A doctor smiled at him and said good morning, which made the man decide not to do it... I'd really like to read it again, but I can't remember what it was called. It might have been Star Wars or another Sci-Fi series. Any ideas?

While I appreciate a willingness to help, let's try to keep responses to things that have an actual chance of being correct. If you're going purely by cover and not plot, please don't post.

Surely you have to show proof of something before you get to whip out QED, regardless of whether or not it's been proven elsewhere?

On a serious note, thanks to the forum for helping out so far.

Not to break up the party, but I'm looking for another book. :) It's a fiction about a boy who was lost in the wilderness. If I'm remembering correctly, he was a boy scout and he was lost on a mountain. He was rescued in the end. I don't remember much else. I read it about 10 years ago and I'd like to read it to my brother. Any ideas?
