In reply to noob_eaten, #25: Debug mode is used by the game designers to grant special powers so that they can better eliminated bugs from the game. sometimes it's left in the game as a secret cheat. My favorite cheat... hmmm... Well, i have heard about that "press restart 13 times" cheat, that's pretty neat sounding (pity interesting stuff like that is no longer done, with inventive ways of hiding cheats and other stuff (that original monster rancher PS game was the closest, with the fact that you could unlock additional mosnters with various audio CDs.)) but i would say that, besides the Sonic 1 level select cheat (first one i ever found ^.^) it would be that one game genie cheat i used to unlock that Hidden Palace Zone on sonic 2 (the one that they took out of the game, technically, but can be accessed (i know it wasn't advertised, but i don't know how it was found out... and to those who may point this out: Yes there is a Hidden Palace Zone in S&K, but NO it's not the same... ah, and debug would be best for the level if you try it, they took out most of the data, there is no background (just glitchyness) and most of the features that were in the beta version are gone (a few rings and at least 1 powerup and some floors (plus a waterslide thing) are all that's left, but the floor under you when you start is gone, so you just fall to your doom.) wow... long post.
Thats really interesting, I love finding the not-quite-finished levels in video games. Nearly always in the old games but you find them in recently released games occasionally. You don't remember how you found it? Thats a shame.
My favorite cheat was the Justin Bailey code for metroid on the nes. all you did was write in the password. JUSTIN BAILEY - - - - - - - - - - - - And you were samus in a swimsuit, all powered up. Glorious.
I'd have to say... The stupidity/intellegence cheat on Goldeneye007. Me and my friend would just set it to the lowest level of intel (caboose level :P) and also get ifinite ammo for the 80 spitfire guns ( i forgot name) and just own. so what if it wasn't a challenge. I had so much fun.
My faveroute cheat would have to be Legedn of Zelda : Links Awakening...the pressing select when going onto another screen...meant you could skip SO much of the game and more likley get stuck in a wall or drown repeatadly....but was fun
Not necessarily a cheat, but I guess a trick. . .remember in the Original Super Mario Bros where you could strategically stomp on the Koopa bunches of times and get a junkload of 1-Ups??
When I was little my baby sitter showed me that trick, but I NEVER got it to work! She was amazing at Super Mario! Remember when you got more than ten lives they had crowns instead of the numerals? AWESOME
I liked using the gameshark for goldeneye, using the walk through doors code for multiplayer; It expanded facility by twice the size and allowed for some nice sniping areas.
That is sacrilege! I spent a week getting all the damn cheats. I even sold that game for over $400 bucks on Ebay (my first Ebay sale) and then found the gameshark and realized that it was much easier and managed to sell two other copies of Goldeneye with all the cheats except I used the Gameshark. Didn't make that $400 but I fooled two people out of $100 each.
