Yes, its that time of the year again, when 3 british zoologists are slung into the heart of africa to track, film and inform us about the lives and loves of the 3 groups of cats they follow... I think this program is far more important to educate us than any other nature show out there because its so accessible to people. The program is set out in much the same way as a soap opera with fascinating cat characters and their (oh so cute) cubs. This thread is intended to discuss the thoughts and feelings of you, the british viewing public about these big cats. What will happen to Toto the tiny cheetah cub? Will Notch and his pride become overthrown by those new males? And will Bella the leopard find a new mate? post your predictions!
lol, she's called Saba Douglas-Hamilton theres a ton of information about the show and wallpapers of the cats here, on the bbc website i reckon Notch might fight off one of them but the second will 'ave him!
Personaly, I tend not to go anything near a soap opera, and when I watched this I thought it spoilt the concept of a nature program and others may follow in the same light, if it is succesful. So this new programme has brought the good nature programs to an end. My poinion anyway...
But if this does kcik off then they will carry this onto everyother nature programme, and we will see the end of a golden earer...
I admit, you can tell that some of the cats have more obvious perosnalities, then others most have seen, but they need not play on it quite so much, it is like that is the only thing they are doing with it, concentrating more on the perosnalities and less on the nature of the matter.
huh, interesting points i never really thought about the programme like that- probably because, apart from survival programmes (and steve irwin), i dont really watch nature programmes... I think its just a case of different audiences wanting different things- this programme probably just plays on lighter entertainment for younger or less serious audiences whereas a lot of other nature programmes are aimed more at the older and the more intellectual
So if the younger audiences want to watch more nature programmes, like the one we are disscusing, they will want pretty much the same thing again, and when they realise that none of the other ones are like it they'll stop watching them. So in an attempt to go and boost up ratings they'll make more of the nature programmes like the big cat week, to replace the other nature programmes, so the soap operas will increase in popularity and viewers, whilst the classical ones decrease in numbers.
