I will honestly say i never new that the spyro series wasn't all made by the same comp... I wondered why the first one was so diffrent from the rest of them. The first is my favorite of all of them. I would go get the new one they have out now but after A hero's Tale I don't want to. I liked Avalon I liked to make spyro swim around O.o : ) But I think it's time for spyro to grow up a little bit. I'm very tired of always having to unlock all his abilities from scratch every time there is a new game.
At least Spyro never grows old! I just re-bought part 2 recently for the playstation 1, getting round to the 100% (haha some day). Definitly prefer the PS1 to the new ones though.. It seems in some cases less is more. I guess my favourite parts were things like the skateboarding with Hunter.. maybe i'm on the wrong game. ^^
The background music really set this game apart from other PS1 games for me. Loud, vibrant, and appropriate. I still have times when Spyro music plays in my head...
Man Spyro was the first PS1 game i played... I didn't even own it.. >D but I was better than my friends who owned it.. mauahahahaha... but now the series...ehhhmmm....
why hasnt there been a good spyro game for 9 years? The first three ps1 games were amazing and the ps2 games sucked. I couldn't care less about graphics if the gameplay is not nearly as fun as the original. I dont think they will ever be able to recapture the glory of the original trilogy.
those bastards...... first they brainwash me as a kid with "Eco Quest" and now they are trying to tarnish the shine of my wondrous childhood!!!!!! (shaking fist in the air) SIERRAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!
Man, I miss the good Spyros. I also miss Crash Bandicoot, the first two were okay, but when the third came out it became awesome, then Revenge of Cortex or whatever, and I barely remember it, now we have this horrid monster they call crash with the best Crash villain(N. Gin) turned into a sniveling pathetic Igor rip-off, as for Spyro, I'd like to see even Naughty Dog get it, at least make it have the good old gameplay from the PS1 era and the epic story of the new ones.
Also, why do good PS1 games become Brawlers? Is that supposedly the new "Cool Combat"?
Soldiers that would moon you when your back is turned, thieves taunting you, gnorcs cowering before your purple might. Amazingly unique awesome game. Can you still hear "Thank you for releasing me!"?
Spyro was my first distinct memory and definitely made me the gamer I am today. I could play "enter the dragonfly", the first one for the PS2, but it lagged really badly, I am curious if anyone else had a similar problem. However, the original trilogy was by far the highlight of the Spyro series. I have spent so many hours of my life on those three games it by far beats out any other game in gameplay time, I have 110%, 100%, and 120% each of those games multiple times and they never get old.
I dug up my PS1 and am doing a runthrough of Year of the Dragon. By the end of the 3rd world (Evening Lake) I had enough eggs to challenge the Sorceress in the 4th world without playing any 4th world levels. Now I'm getting to the Super Bonus World and collecting Skill Points and I've only played a total of 20 hrs!
Spyro is probably my favorite game of all time along side with Crash. I'm really pissed of because they ruined the perfect series (just like Crash) and the worst thing they could do for this series is to include Spyro into Skylanders. I hope someone will make remake of at least first 3 games because this game made me the gamer I am today. Spyro the dragon forever!
I hold out hope that Sony has both the rights and intentions to make an HD remake of both the Spyro and Crash games. Much in the same manner as Sly Cooper and many other big PS2 titles they have been remaking lately.
It's always nice to see someone posting in this old topic.
I found a good walkthrough of the original trilogy on youtube. Here's a link to the channel: www.youtube.com/user/Carl10O1 Just check his playlists and you'll find them.
