The science thread.

Discuss all the new and exciting things coming out in the scientific world. Biology, Chemistry, Physics, whatever.

Don't just make this an evolution thread. Only bring it up if there is new evidence for or against.

You don't think safely landing a space shuttle mission has already made that case? Does NASA need to prove itself more?

I'd settle for a holodeck or a replicator.

Ooooooo, this is pretty cool too.

I recently heard a Science Friday podcast about the kind of work going on in this field. It's really quite amazing

They need to work out a replacement for the space shuttle, aside from the cockpits which have all been updated, the shuttles are the flower of 1975 technology.

unfortunately, the problem is always funding. There's enough people that consider scientific exploration a waste that they wont appropriate a budget of the size required for that.

thats why private corporations will be the next space race...as soon as we find something in our solar system that can turn a profit, watch how fast corporations get people in space to collect it.

Shience? What is this shience you speak of? SHIENCE IS WISHCRAFT AND VOODOO! lol

I think the most exciting thing that they are doing in science is working on a way to combine quantum mechanics(QM) and Einsteins views on the universe. While Einsteins are true at the macro level, QM are true at the micro level; however, if one holds true, the other must be false; according to the thought right now.

However, when applied to blackholes, it might just be possible that both are true. B/c a blackhole is both a macro and micro object in the universe.

Just food for thought...

I haven't heard much about that.

Though I do know that Einstein found a lot of the work in the quantum world to be troubling.

The last thing we need is an update of the space shuttle. Your right- funding. Which is why I don't support an updated space shuttle. We have more important things to focus on right now.

Yeah, we probably should divert some of the money away from the space administration and spend it on some of the more pressing issues, like the wars or natural disasters

space planes that take 1 hour to get to other side of world would be nice hate long plane rides with lil kids all around you, i know ppl have though about it but cost would be to much but advancements may cause a change in thought

One of the last Defense bills (by the way someone tell me which was choosen, satellites or spies) maybe (idk if it was choosen) was to build a mother satellite that coul ddispense smaller, refridgerator sized satllites over an area, and what makes that ideal is that it wont register to the enemy as a satellite, just more space crap.

we spend way too much moeny as it is on wars...present and past...thatis one thing we need to get away from...war should not be about profit, and it has been for the past 50 years.

Hmm, I didn't know this, but apparently many writers for The Simpsons are very mathematically-minded (seems that some have even have doctorates).

Read this for more info.
