Eliot Morris is a singer/song-writer from Mobile, Alabama. His songs are equal parts Townes Van Zant, Jackson Browne, and the R & B records he heard as a kid. That unpretentious blend of melodies and something to say resonates profoundly with every audience he plays before, and his debut album ("What's Mine is Yours", in stores August 15th) presents a songwriter to be reckoned with, and a voice that stays with you even after the music stops.
You may have heard his song "Colorful World" in a new Crayola commercial. If not, you can check it out here: www.crayola.com/theartofchildhood
Eliot says, simply, "I really have no idea what will become of the music I am making. I just believe that if I continue to make music that I am proud of, the rest will take care of itself. Now lets go get something to eat."
Right now you can catch him on tour with the Goo Goo Dolls and Counting Crows. Check him out on his website or MySpace.
The fact that Townes Van Zandt has nothing to do with the real Van Zant family confused me briefly, that's all I'll say. Congratulations on the topic, Bey.
