I searched and found nothing, so here is my contribution ^^
i recently read a GREAT book from the newly created "Gay Teen Fiction" genre.
Boy Meets Boy by: David Levithan (His Site here click on the book farthest on the left up at top for a bit of a preview ^^) is a GREAT book.
I'll try and give my best describtion...better yet i'll give the book's self description
Love is never easy. Especially if you're Paul. He's a sophomore at a high school like no other -- and these are his friends Infinite Darlene, the homecoming queen and star quarterback Joni, Paul's bet friends who may not be his best friend anymore Tony, his other best friend, who can't leave the house unless his parents think he's going on a date . . . with a girl Kyle, the ex-boyfriend who won't go away Rip, the school bookie, who sets the odds. . . and Noah. the boy who changes everything.
Love Meets Love. Confusion Meets Clarity. Boy Meets Boy.
seriously, if you're gay, bi, questioning, or tollerant. you should read this book, it's amazingly good, not graphic..and it ALMOST seems like it could happen, finished in a day..
Im not gay, but I'm not a conservitive homophobe either.
but the plain and simple fact is that all reading sucks, whether its strait books or gay ones. they are all gay to me, because they suck cock all the same.
I'm not gay... but I think I have heard of this book... and I think I have read a little bit of it... but I think I might look it up and read it thanks for letting us know about it! ^. ^
i am bi, and i think it's a great book to read. i agree with HeavyMuffins that this book is good for bi's, gays, and tollerant, or questioning, i also reccommend this book ^_^
It's boring to me. I'm not that big of a fan of fiction, but I've already got a book I want ot readin the Gay Teen Fiction, Running with Scissors, which the movie is completely unbased off of because the book is actually about the son, not the mother.
I read 3/4 of the excerpt and lost interest. Just seems too boring.
I read a part of this when I was in the local queer bookstore. It really, really didn't catch my interest.
My problem with this book, as with a lot of books in the queer literature genre, is that it's essentially the queer version of chick lit. It doesn't have much substance to it.
If only it were just this book that had this problem. A good portion of queer literature has this issue. I've only read a couple queer books that I've liked, and unfortunately this book is not one of them (or at least what I read of it).
I also happen to read mostly non-fiction, so take that as you will.
Romance novels especially ones made for teens, protaganists are audience surrogates, and despite what the reader hopefully wishes for the protaganist would not be liked by the love intrest do to their lack of personality.
