Since Burgundy was so persistent, or something. And you're all usually so well behaved, you now have somewhere to come and chat, whether it be about cars or not.
There are a few rules I'd like to make plain from the start, however.
1) Keep it nice. I don't want to see this turning into something other than a place where we can all come and go without crys of GTFO and the like.
2) This is not the place to incite idiotic acts, whether it be going to harass someone for claiming to hold the land speed record or a decision to go act like jerks in a thread. Anyone doing such things will be banned for the ensuing harassment or trolling.
3) Keep off topic conversations out of the other threads and keep them in here, please.
if i'm drinking to get drunk I usually go for dark rums, like Goslings Black Seal (80 or 151 proof). Awesome for Dark and Stormys. Captain is good for rum and cokes tho. I like whiskey, except for bourbon, really, but it has to be at least decent.
Awsome new thread hows every one doing this morning? i'm in math class at the moment (the instructor hasn't arrived yet.) I also agree that the DB9 is pretty cool looking, though personaly i like the Pagani Zonda!
Yea i need food too, last time I went without breakfast i ended up passing out on the automotive lift and hitting my head on the one next to it... needed 9 staples over a 3 inch gash... so yea i learned my lesson.
I no longer care to drink to get drunk. I now drink to 'enliven' some experiences or to simply enjoy a good drink.
If a straight spirit is in the offing, I do quite enjoy good Scotch. I'll drink Johnnie Walker Red & Black on the rocks, but my other favorite Scotches (JW Green & Gold, Talisker, Glennfiddich) are always quaffed neat, as they well should be. I will also oblige to drinking an American Whiskey (not Whisky, my friends) such as a Bourbon or Jack D if the mood so strikes me. I've also recently discovered the exquisiteness of Cognac, specifically Hennessey. That is to be had in a proper Brandy Snifter all by itself, at room temperature. It is like drinking pure pimp essence.
If, however, beer is the order of the day, I've grown to be quite fond of ales of late, especially those with robust hop characters. I've become enamored with IPA's and some of the better Pale Ales to be found (Saranac Pale Ale being a top choice, one that would make even the Brits jealous) as well as some Stouts and Porters. Amber Ales with their malty richness are much to my liking, even though they are really a subset of Pale Ales. Brown Ales, when done right, are also top choices. I also enjoy some of the more robust Lagers of the German persuasion, especially the Schwarzbier, Märzen, and Boch varieties. The typical American macro beer is very much not to my liking anymore, but if I do drink it I'll prefer a Utica Club over any other offering in that category. If that isn't available, the Canadian macros I've found to be more tolerable than the American ones.
I also like wine, although normally only with food. The drier reds, especially Chianti, are my favorites. NY's Bully Hill produces most of the wines that I drink regularly, their 'Love My Goat Red' being my favorite.
Drunk for me is anything past buzzed. i dont like getting hammered tho. As far as scotch goes, I like JW (Green Gold or Blue), Glenfiddich, Glenlivet, Caol Ila, Laphroaig and Lagauvlin. Cognac I will have on occasion. I have a bottle of Bisquit VSOP that my grandfather left for me, that comes out on my birthdays now. otherwise Hennessey suits me fine.
Beer is a whole other matter. I've only been turned on to beer in the past half year, since I started going to and working at my schools Pub, where we have 84 different beers, of which about 80 are legitimately good beers. I'm not huge on IPAs, a bit too hoppy for me. I like a good stout (Beamish, please, not Guinness), McEwans Scotch Ale, which is like having a meal in a bottle its so thick, Saranac Caramel Porter, various hefeweizens, Chimay trappist ales, almost anything by Unibroue and Harpoon, especially Ephemere and Harpoon's Barleywine. I'm still getting into the beer thing, but theres so many tasty things, I cant even keep track yet.
laugh at me if you will, but i have yet to get any effects off alcohol at all. i have tried some, and can say i like the taste of certain drinks, but as far as drinking enough to get anything off it, nope. just never felt the need to. although the biggest part of that was i was under 21, and didn't feel like getting arested while having a class A license.
oooo, car bar. I'll have a Porsche to go, put it on my tab.
but lately i've gotten particular with Appleton Special Jamacian Spiced Rum. that goes good with just about anything. and a good tequilla is either Casadores or Cabrito. They go down smooth, and they have an after burn. and ofcourse you've always got to have a 12 pack to a case of beer in the fridge for when you get done with work.
