So...this is the 3rd iteration of the UK-based, fan-hosted event thread.

We are here to act as a link between the organisers and the "plebs", or fans as you may recognise yourselves.
This area will be used to discuss the event and its activities, enabling us to get some sort of feedback.

New this year, we have an official announcement area in the form of the RvBUK user, which all who wish to attend should put on watch.

We have many ideas for the year to come, some of which are in their early stages of implementation, others which are still just ideas.
Bear with us, have a little patience and even contribute if you have the time or ideas.

So...2008 huh?

If you have any questions...and the strange folk here seem too incoherent, here is a list of the more user-friendly amongst us;

Right..im gonna take out the negatives of getting the travelodge - We have to remeber that there will be other people staying there that are not apart of the RvB crowd..There might not be enough room if there is a big turn-up.
I know you had a bad turn up on Brummy uni. but leicester's uni might be alright..they got the club house..and a hall upstairs, i think its best if we stay more central.. easy for people to get to places.

Thats what planning and booking is for

the problem with universities in general is they expect a large amount of money.

they like to rape our pockets.

although their may be people in the travelodge, i believe the benefits outweigh its downsides.

its cheaper, all rooms will have shower / toilet facilities in them, the conference hall is within the building (so jamilio need not lug a bastard-heavy TV all round campus ), the hotel will be easier to find than a partucular spot on a campus and will surely have some taxi service they use (for those of us on a booze-hunt )

I've got to agree that for the numbers we have, the uni option is just far too expensive. And they're all bastards, it seems.

OK, I guess this makes sense.

Some links on the first post might be a good idea. Some people might not want to ask a question in the thread because it might make them look like an idiot and would prefer to ask a person.

I guess you guys want to know what travel lodge said:

"As far as I know" was used by the person on the other end of the line several times, which isn't too encouraging so I might phone back to double check tomorrow:
We can only use wireless (No wired) internet and we'd have to pay for the wireless per person (who wants access).

If "as far as she knew" was far enough and she's right then I suggest anyone who wants to have internet access just tells us when we're taking all the details and they pay that little extra, as apposed to assuming everyone would want to use it and end up over paying, just so all ticket prices are the same. Doesn't really make sense that way.

I think with some serious haggling we might be able to make some kind of deal with them so that we can have access for the event at a fixed cost, regardless of how many it'll be used by and how often.

Edit: Just noticed something I need to clarify. This isn't the only contact with Travel Lodge we've had. We have actually discussed the event and accommodation. We're not that slack.

...What? Sorry, I don't know if it's just me but I can't make sense of that.

I think I kind of get the jist of it. We need one connection for the event itself, yeah. But people might want personal access, as well and the person on the phone made it very clear that we can't just use one for everyone.......As far as she knew...

We won't need access for any LAN though, because they would just be wired together?

As for anything else, you people can't stay away from the internet for a couple of days????

Oh, and the links is fixxord in the first post.

Ooh, right, OK. That makes sense, then. The word "Link" confused me because I thought you meant hyperlink.

OK, so we have a while now, but let's not get contented (Not that we have yet...). For some reason I'm in a really hyper mood and need something to do tonight (Phoning now is useless). Organisers chat room?

Starburst was originally called Opal Fruits, yes.

This has to do with this thread how?

Nevermind, I missed squiggles post somehow. Still want to know how he got into the "coherent" list though!

*Ehem* ...I'm right here!

I have some...kinda...Big news. But I don't really think it's read for public ears, yet...Mainly just because I want you guys to be like "Big news? That sounds cool. ...Wait, they won't tell us?! Holy crap!! It must be huge! It must be amazing!!" and then probably start making up things that you think would be amazing like the event being completely free, or a visit from John Cleese (Hey, we're British, aren't we?) or free copies of Halo 3 for all. Then when you find out you'll have a moment of disappointment before realising it's actually much better then all of those things and freaking out completely.

I'll PM a select few (Including Pixie just to rub it in that the un-coherent one accomplished something! Ha! )
