For gay prime minsters, there have been no openly or definitely gay ones, but a fair amount of speculation around Ted Heath. According to most reports at the time he was a virgin on entering Number 10, although rumours have come up suggesting he was into cottaging in the 50's, long before homosexuality was decriminalised.
Pretty much the same for Pitt the Younger, who was widely reported to be asexual while preferring the company of men. This is pretty much the same innuendo used about glass-closeted British public figures up to today.
A man who had been a volunteer at a community center for gays walked into the lobby of a conservative political organization, made a negative comment about what the group stands for, pulled a gun and opened fire, authorities said.
How much you wanna bet the article had a "the" somewhere in there before it was edited out?
Also why do people have so much trouble understanding what a hate crime is?
During the London riots some people put up (I believe) Facebook events inviting people to riot in other towns. Despite no riots actually happening this was taken as incitement to riot and resulted in a four year sentence.
Extensive poll on gay marriage in the USA. The most interesting part is the detailed breakdown of political groups; Note that the Tea Party (that small government, economically focused movement...) is the most opposed to gay marriage, beating both pro-government Republicans and religious values voters.
To be honest, there's lots of overlap in those categories. Tea Party Republicans are essentially the most extreme right of the Republican Party, and so probably also the most likely to be the most religious. Which means that they are even more conservative than most people who call themselves religious values voters.
“Our conclusion, based on all of the evidence available to us, is that DADT repeal has had no overall negative impact on military readiness or its component dimensions, including cohesion, recruitment, retention, assaults, harassment or morale,” according to the study. “Although we identified a few downsides that followed from the policy change, we identified upsides as well, and in no case did negative consequences outweigh benefits. If anything, DADT repeal appears to have enhanced the military’s ability to pursue its mission.”
I saw that story earlier. It's shocking, I know. Clearly homosexuality is causing the complete decay of civilization. This study was obviously slanted toward a pro-homosexual agenda, biased and partial to accelerate the fall of the United States. Only prayer and Jesus will save us now.
I am investing in holy water covered butt plugs. Keep the spirit of the Lord in and the homosexuals out. 99% effective in stopping sinful homosexual acts against your person. Terry Jones told me it was true so it must be.
To be serious, I would like to highlight that Washington State will be voting on Referendum 74, to approve the state congress bill that legalized same-sex marriage. I am hopeful my state can make the right decision. Currently the polls have a healthy lead as well as a lot of corporate support (Costco, Microsoft, Amazon, Boeing, Google, etc)
I'm additionally thankful that, as predicted, people have found it hasn't ruined their marriages and they are becoming generally less interested in making it a political issue to overturn the judgement.
