Can I Help Out?
Sure! Here are a couple of ways how:
Sponsor! RT Philly is being run like a convention in many ways. We have a few more openings for Event Sponsors. For $100, you get 2 tickets to Saturday's event., a long table to peddle your wares, and, should you choose, an entry space for our RT User Video panel
If you'd still like to help out, donations of any size $5 or larger will be automatically entered in our raffle drawing. $20 or more will be able to submit video content for our screening room.
Volunteer!
If you're attending and want to pitch in, we could use a couple of extra people to promote awareness and put up signs the week of. if you're not in Philly but still want to help out, message me and we'll work out something.
Currently, our volunteers include Rocketwhore, Raphy, TaZorro, Slvrwhispr, Nozi, and myself. Rocketwhore is the chariman of RT Philly. I am treasurer and guest liason.
Promote!
If you have friends in the Philly area, bring em to RT Philly! One of the best parts of events like this is getting to meet new people!
Ask questions if you have any. I may post a Q&A anyway in the comments.
TL;DR: Come to RT Philly. Brotherly Love is Awesome.
Exactly... well... i wouldn't have to, but some people would... but I'm willing to cross the border for RvB:TO next year, so why wouldn't they be willing to come into America
Well that's a good question indeed. We need a location in Philadelphia where it's good for our needs. Are there going to be other things to do at RT: Philly? Like capture the flag, and a picnic? If so we need to be close to a park.
Idea's:
Capture the Flag Picnic RT DVD's /ideas.
It would be more expensive to have an open bar but we can have a few kegs and food. Kind of like a beef and beer type thing.
Any other ideas for places, events, and activities are greatly appreciated.
I am so confused... sorry... can someone explain the general thing about these events... then I can help... cause I've never been to one, but I really want to help...
Type of events differ it could be anywhere from a bunch of people hanging out at someone's house doing RT related events or it can be a giant event where we go to a bar, do events as a group, picnic, BBQ, CTF, etc.
I think, in order to do the best event possible, we would need to do this in 2009. That way, we could coordinate with RT staff, Trocadero, and others from the community. That said, I would appreciate anything you guys could do to keep this from conflicting with RVBTO, my first love.
Center City would be the most convenient area, although University City would also be good. I'm not sure when a good time to do this would be, except that it shouldnt interfere with either Rvbto or Canwest.
I think something like this is best suited to a one day event, probably Saturday.
Also, a big part of why other RT events work is that local staff are able to work effectively with each other. I recommend meeting at some point in the first month to figure out exactly what it is we're out to do.
I think Raphy is right, especially since it would be the first RT: Philly (again, I think?). It would be better to establish it so we don't overexagerate on the amount of things needed or the amount of people that may or may not come
Excellent idea. Pick a time and a place and I'll meet you there to further discuss this. Center City is a good area too. What with the parks and the fact that it's a big tourist attraction. What with the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall and all that.
It's about time we show those Canadians what it's like. I agree though; this event would have to take a lot of planning. I'm thinking the best time for it could be toward the end of the summer, since RvBTO is at the beginning.
Well we're trying to coordinate this so that it doesn't interfere with any other events so that's a good idea. As for RVBTO. I hear it's great. As for Canadians. THEIR GREAT TOO.
