I've been checking that site before this one every day this week. It's exciting having an episode backlog again. I never know when an episode will emerge slimily from your editing womb.
's'cool. I'm at my brother's place in Sydney with shitty internetz, so by the time this RMC finishes downloading you'll probably be done with both. With enough time for a soda in between.
The simplicity of Movie Club really make me wonder why we don't do it more often. It seems so long as we all share the same method of watching (ie. Netflix), there are absolutely no sync issues unlike with JP and TMNT.
Since I'm going to be super fucking busy with school, I may call on you folks to join me for RMC shows instead of normal episodes so that we can have fairly regular and frequent releases. As it stands with my schedule until the end of July, I'll be doing ~55 hours of classes and work per week, plus homework and whatnot...
Anyway, my points are 1) would anyone be opposed to a brief shift in programming for the next couple months? 2) what movies should we commentate?
I'm not opposed to that. RMC eps tend to be longer so there's more listening, which is always fun.
Since you're the one who'd co-ordinate, look at films that A) are on Netflix and B) you yourself want to do, then just throw it open in a poll. Let people vote, see who's willing to do it, then move from there.
1. I love RMCs (not RCMPs) and have always said you should do more.
2. I like Maeghan's idea about doing a The Last Airbender rif-cast. Other than that, let's see what's on US Netflix (no clue if you have these same ones in Canadia), also note, these are not necessarily all movies I think are awesome, just ones that could make a fun movie club. Demolition Man, The Shadow, Jackie Brown, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Hunt for Red October, Jumanji, Serenity, Godzilla vs Monster Zero, Four Rooms, and I think that's all my crazy suggestions for now.
Listening to the IM2 movie club. Apparently I accidentally muted myself around the 10 minute mark, and totally didn't realize it until like the 21 minute mark, totally thinking I was participating in the discussions on Sherlock Holmes 2, Justin Hammer's treason, the Mandarin, etc. *facepalm*
Alright, so episode 130, with Charlie, is pretty fucking long. I'm halfway through and it's an hour, and we actually wrap it up pretty well. Unfortunately I don't really remember the rest of the show, and I assume I just make more and more of a fool of myself.
So, I'm releasing the first half as its own ep, and then I will release part 2 eventually... hopefully before the end of the weekend, but episode 131 takes precedence.
Had to pick up one of the younger guys today and take him out to rehearsal. One of my Retcast CDs was in the player so we listened to Puma's stories about Megacon. Never seen Jimmy laugh that hard. Puma, the voice you used during the "There's Tron! There's Chewbacca! Holy god! Where am I?" That voice apparently just did it for him
Mickey Rourke refused to do the movie unless they wrote in a parakeet for Whiplash for no reason.
...the principle of the thing is, even though they're paying him a mountain of money, they conceded to writing a random plot element into the film just because he said, "I WANT BECAUSE EGO!"
And it adds nothing to the film. It's one thing if it's just some random thing in the back ground at the beginning. It's another when him asking for the bird and him complaining about the bird brings it into the foreground... for no reason other than, "The bird needs X amount of screen time because it makes Mickey happy".
That's all I think about when I see that damn thing.
It shows that his character values some random bird more than human lives, which ironically parallels Mickey valuing the damn bird more than the people working on the film who would've been knee deep in shit if he took off.
