I just saw this on HBO:

Sorry if there's already a topic for this somewhere, but I didn't see one. Any thoughts?

I was looking on Halopedia's news report on this, and they had an interesting idea of what it could be: the official name for the previously codenamed "Halo: Chronicles".

It just got announced at E3 a moment ago.

Halo: Reach will take place during the Fall of Reach.

This means more Spartans.

Hopefully very story driven with flashbacks (even flashback gameplay) back to Spartan training. Rather than just Spartans fighting on Reach.

Oh my God, Beta coming with ODST this is such epic win! Anybody think that "Reach" looked like the Legendary Planet?

This looks amazing. Does anybody know who Spartan-259 actually was?

I would assume a Spartan III but that doesn't make sense if it's Reach.

I was going to post this. I'm just too slow... Well, I think it looks very awesome and the Fall of Reach battles were amazing.

It was stated in the trailer... Spartan-259 is the one who responds to the comm chatter and states "We're not going anywhere"

That's what I heard. I'm feeling really conflicted here. Only Spartan III's have numbers over 150, but it also says Halo: Reach Falls 2010. That sounds like a referance to the novel, whic was just before Halo 1. Anyone with me here?

More important I believe is the ship and view of the planet, both very similar to the Legendary Ending.

I just rewatched the trailer. It never states Spartan 259...
It says Siera 259... I never read the books, but are Sieras codenames for Spartans?

Impossible... check your source 10 points for whoever gets the reference ^.^

1) the Chief's half of the ship never made it into slipspace.
2) The Arc was beyond the edge of the galaxy. I don't think it could possibly be it.

They are pretty similar, we don't know where the Chief's half went remember. The Legendary Planet could have been anywhere. Grabbing screens now.

Actually, I've never seen the first freeze-frame... I can even see the outline of a city, or something similar to one... although I still really doubt that. I'm not going to jump to conclusions until the real location is revealed... this changes my opinion slightly.

Once again I figure I'll alert, compare this to the Legendary Ending Pic, I can definitely see some similarities in the city/hieroglyph type things.

First image got accidentally deleted, also compare to my other picture two posts or so above.

In reply to BlueTeamFTW, #25:

Yeah, but that's two halves of a ship. Chief was only in one. Arby's half made it to Earth.

But yeah, the planets do look very similar. I don't think Bungie would make the legendary ending without it relating to the next/next-next game.

What, so we are meant to understand the Forward Unto Dawn had 3 halves?

I'm still torn.

Warning: Crack Theory

Maybe that was an old Forerunner City-Planet? It's possible that, unknown by humanity, that much of their architectural positioning and cityscaping was modeled off of old Forerunner design? It would help explain the similarities of Reach and a planet so far off the galactic map that it had been previously undiscovered by all.

Although then again, if it was so far away from the Halos that it was "out of range", then that wouldn't explain why it seemed devoid of life...

A retcon is when some part of canon is redone or altered to make way for future canon. I find the "it's them" line most interesting though. I'm not saying this is post Halo 3 I'm kind of torn but I think I'm going to make a case for it.

In reply to Caboozles, #29:

People tend to not like the time travel theory but we know there were Forerunner artifacts on Reach, entire complexes in fact. So Chief could just be there at another place in time. I don't like this theory either but my goal is to impartially bring up anything of use. I think the opening line could also be a hint, "From the beginning you know the end." most people would say this is a dead ringer for prequel but we all know how Bungie is.
