In an effort to further discussion of Reach, and quash the flame war over spelling, I will respond to this.
I can't wait for the playing field to be evened. Though I am a Colonel Grade Three, I am excited as can be to drop to Private again. I play only in rare and extremely binge-like periods, and my rank grows accordingly. At my current rank, I have to fight eclipses all the time, and I wish I could drop back to warrant officer, where I was king.... Besides the difficulty of my games now, I look forward to 4 just because the initial rank climbing is so much fun.
Well this forum is in buisness sadly its ransacked with noobs....
Anyways I am wondering how the hell does noble six survive a fall from atmospheric rentry and just dies in the end... That definantly would killed him. I remember the first strike book and fred lost half his team due to a pelican falling at a hight thats not as high as what noble six did. Thats my rant anyways.
If you watch the cutscene for the level immediately after the "space jump", 6 limps towards some camera thing and on the side near the bottom you can read "Re-Entry" or something. So I guess he's wearing a pretty heavy duty jetpack.
Jet packs don't work for atmospheric retry The heat from the atmosphere would burn him up since he is going at a constant velocity a jetpack would also break some bones on the way down.
It can be said that the armor/shields or whatever could protect against the heat. Also, I don't think the jet pack idea is totally off base. Its the future, who knows what kind of technology they could have. Also, its all fiction. People sometimes seem to forget that.
Well I'm going by Eric Nylund fiction it seems that first strike made it pretty clear ( Spartans + falling + atmospheric reentry = mostly KIA) and noble six just shrugs it off.
I seem to remember the Master Chief himself shrugging off an unprotected reentry. Although to be be fair, a team of Marines and the Arbiter had to go and wake him up afterwards, but that's so 2007.
Not to mention that spartan 3s don't have the gel layer (1. they are spartan III and 2. they have the mark 5 , hell Noble Six probably grabbed onto a piece of the wreckage while in atmosphere.
He must have had something to give him the edge, or else I would imagine Jorge wouldn't of just, you know, tossed him off a ship. "Here, I'm saving you, just so you can fall to the planet and die!" doesn't seem to be his implied message, but maybe I am wrong.
