As of two months ago, Activision accidentally spilled the beans that a new 007 game would be releasing, scheduled for 2010. link Of course, Activision would never comment on speculation, rumors, or possible slips of information. There were no further details on what it would be.
Recent information from an animator named Craig Peck has surfaced of his work on 007 Goldeneye for the Nintendo Wii. link
Could the failed plans for modernizing Goldeneye be back on track as a continuation on the plans of XBL Arcade? Maybe it's releasing for all platforms (When wouldn't activision do everything possible to max profits), but this is the only platform I see that has any information whatsoever.
Would you buy it even though you've played it before? If it's Wii only, do you think it's a console-seller for people who have 360s or PS3s?
I have a Wii and would buy it for that, even though I hardly play it. But if it comes out on XBLA, I'd buy it for that instead and play the hell out of it.
Same, and I don't see how Activision are getting away with this. EA owns the rights to the 007 franchise, but Rare own the rights to the game, the only reason it hasn't popped up before on XBLA is because EA wouldn't allow it. Now Activision is shoulder deep in EA's colon they decide they can bitch slap Rare by putting it out on a Nintendo console? Even if it comes out on Wii, I won't bother. It would be a perfect XBLA title, but as a retail game? I think not.
Activision hold the rights to Bond, Rare to the original game as developers and Nintendo to the same as publishers. So pretty much anything requires the three to agree.
i already have a wii, so i would totally buy it. especially if it has splitscreen multiplayer like the original. UNLIKE EVERY OTHER GAME IN RECENT MEMORY! all the developers are like "YEAH ONLINE CO-OP WOO HOO!" then we ask, "can you play with a friend on the same screen?" and they are like "UHH... no." sorry for the rant, but that pisses me off. I want to shoot people with my brother not by myself.
It's not Nintendo's fault that most game developers think PS2 port + waggle based mini-games - anything that made the original good = perfect game. Search throught the Wii's library of games and you'll find some truly awesome ones. But on topic, yes I am extremely excited about the possibility of a Goldeneye remake, especially if it has online capabilities. I lost count of the hours me and my brothers put into that game.
I'd rather see the original Goldeneye retooled as an Xbox Live Arcade game instead of a new Wii game, like they're doing with Perfect Dark. Don't know if I'd actually buy it, but you never know.
the E3 2010 video on the new golden eye looks amazing. Like someone said at E3, this game will bring back memories of those who played the original on the nintendo 64.
I dont think this game will be good. There really have been no good shooters for the wii as of today. Conduit was an epic fail, Call of Duty was meh, and i really wouldnt count Red Steel 2 as a hardcore shooter. The only sucessfulish ones have been rail shooters or zombie shooters. Anyway, the real test of merit is going to be its online play. Besides Medel of Honor: Heros 2, which still wasnt even that great, online shooters on the wii have been laggy, difficult to get into games let alone the tedious getting of friend codes so you can play with your friends, miserable tactics due to awful communication aka lack of headset (wiispeak gtfo) and use of button commands that no one has time to use. In conclusion, if Goldeneye wants to wow the wii audience and become a major part of gaming history like it originally was, if they can make online fps on the wii actually worth my time i will personally buy a copy.
Add to your list of poor Wii shooters the Metroid Prime Trilogy, at least for the first two in the complete edition, where you cannot turn without aiming way to the side and the turn speed is terrible.
yea metroid 3 is easily one of the best games for the console. i havent picked up the trilogy yet, but i am soon because i never played the first installment and the second i played briefly. I still dont understand why people have trouble with the aiming in fps's because personally i have never found myself experiencing moving the wiimote too far off the screen and the sensor bar losing connection.
I could've gotten that one if I wanted, but I always use pointer controls for Wii FPS games. Had to tweak my settings a bit, but I'm satisfied with what I've got........
And to the haters........the game plays like Call Of Duty, so if you like that you'll love this. Especially if you're a Bond fan........
I want to play it. Although I have a few concerns.
1) It's activision remaking a Rareware game. Rareware was bought out by Microsoft, and after the contract went void, the James Bond franchise went to Activision.
2) Daniel Craig shouldn't be aloud to replace Pierce Brosnan. Craig is a poor excuse for a Bond.
3) It's wii and DS only.Although I have both these consols, I feel FPS is better appreciate with the less interactive controllers. Although I do appreciate their inclusion of allowance in that I can use both my Virtual Consol Controller and Gamecube controller.
The one I really want is an Earthbound Virtual consol release. It was even brought to the ESRB however there are too many copywrite restrictions for a release.
FF7 was released for the PS3 market and works on my PSP which is okay in my book.
i hated Goldeneye remake. Just Call of Duty multiplayer in shitty graphics and TERRIBLE FUCKING CONTROLS. I hate my Wii. I hate it. Get a real console kids.
Why in god's name are you posting in a Wii thread if you hate the Wii so much, and don't even think it's a real console.
You either:
A) Have no life and nothing else to occupy your life or B) Just enjoy being a douche.
And buy a real system? Oh please enlighten me as to what qualifies a "real system"
Also on topic, I personally like this game. It got me back on playing the Wii. Yes, it has the same things as CoD does, mostly with the xp and levelling, etc. But I personally think it works. I knew, just as everyone did that it wasn't going to be a remake of the original... so as a standalone game I like it. As a remake of a previously amazing and awesome title, it is horrible. However, I do still like the single player. And I personally like the controls.
Yes, there are some small things that I can say about it that I personally aren't a huge fan of, but tbh, I think it's not a bad game.
I found something better. If you have Half-Life Deathmatch, there is a fan made mod, that looks amazing! It is a recreation of the original Nintendo 64 game in its entirety using state of the art graphics.
