I just think that carrying on with Desmond would just seem like they're weighing too much on Desmond. His story would be too long. I don't mean the whole franchise, I mean the stuff with Desmond as the centre.
Um I don't mean to be a drag but they only planned to make this series into a trilogy, so AC3 will be the last game, but then they could do what they did with Ezio and have more Connor specific games. But it'll still be Desmond until the very end.
Well, there is evidence of others that already were in the animus with information. Subject 16 is the evidence of that. He probably had stories of ancient Assassins. If you remember the start of AC2, the animus does a comparison of common memories and goes to Ezio's time. You never know what other assassins have to unfold on other periods.
Then came Halo 4 to ruin that theory before it even started
Also BTW they have said that this is the end of Desmonds' story but the series isn't ending it's just the end of the 2012 plot thread. They're going to take a brake and stop releasing AC games every year.
I agree as well. That's what I meant in my previous post where I said maybe if they had chose to continue Desmond's story, they would continue to the present day, where you would play as Desmond, and his story would end there.
But that is not what was being discussed. We were discussing whether or not Desmond's story should end, because I felt it should be too repetitive if we had just stayed with the same core character who would have everything weighted on him, rendering him the "ultimate important character".
Don't forget that we still haven't found "Eve" yet, I admit that it's possible she'll be the next story bearer if it has to be anyone other than Desmond.
