The franchise that revolutionized online multiplayer for PC games is back.
In our world-exclusive cover story, Game Informer unveils the first numbered entry in the Battlefield series since 2005. Many longtime fans are wondering, "what took so long?!" DICE has honed the concept for the true sequel for years, but it wasn't until the company developed the powerful new Frostbite 2 engine that it felt all the pieces were in place to create a proper follow-up. Armed with powerful upgrades like deferred rendering, real-time radiosity, a new animation system borrowed from the EA Sports label, and an exponential leap in destructibility, executive producer Patrick Bach dubs Frostbite 2 "the best piece of technology on the market when it comes to building games."
I heard about it just this morning, and I can not wait. Few problems I have already:
I can't decide if I should buy it for PC or Xbox.
Pros/Cons: Xbox: Achievements
PC: 64 person multiplayer
2nd, my computer won't be able to handle the requirements, since I got it specifically for BF2. I have a few months to upgrade, but not sure if it would be a better option. I would prefer it for PC just because the game was originally for PC.
Thats what I was thinking, but I might not wait for the sale. Me and a couple of friends loved 1942 and 2, and we were just so used to the PC. Might buy them both at the same time.
I'll have it for 360, mostly because my laptop wouldn't be able to run it very well, it runs BC2 great at the highest specs, but just looking at BF3 I can tell it wouldn't do quite as good with it.
Anyhow I can't wait for the game, it kinda sucks though that only a couple weeks later I'll have Skyrim and will be required to choose which game to play.
This game's gonna blow MW3 out of the water. Campaign looks amazing, as well as the new Frostbite engine, and MP appears to play like a dream. I'm only gonna play it on Xbox though, because on that I know the framerate won't die on me, I'll be able to experience it in HD in full surround sound, and the fact that I don't want to spend upwards of $750 upgrading a computer for a $60 game. Anywho, I'm super jazzed for this
One thing that you might want to know is to run Battlefield 3 on PC you will need to run Origin as well. :( EA has pulled all of its games from Steam so you can't use that. I am now getting it for Xbox because of this. I can't wait i pre-ordered it today. :)
