This better just be them prioritizing features we don't care about when discussing it, and not this being all it is. I was expecting an 8th Generation console, not a new Wii accessory.
...but does that really matter? A weird name doesn't mean shit if it's backed up by an awesome console...which, even though we know very little about it, I think it's shaping up to be that way.
Yeah, I am VERY excited by the thought of a touch screen in the controller, my ISSUE with that, is I don't want to think about the price of this new controller. Shelling out for a two-part controller (Wiimote and nunchuck) was hard enough.
Also, this controller looks to be Nintendo's clunkiest one, and just the thought of holding it seems awkward. But hey, things might change between now and 2012. Who knows.
My favourite thing about this new console, is the announcement of 3rd party involvement with games. That was the Wii's downfall, and hopefully the WiiU won't have to worry about it.
The look of the controller was the first thing I thought too. Was hoping they could make the sides a little more ergonomic to grip your hands around so you can hold it easily and get all the buttons without losing the screen.
Yeah, I was somewhat OK with a controller similar to the NGC controller, just with a touch screen attached to it.
Personally, my opinion about this, is that the Wii U will DOMINATE the next Gen consoles. Simply because of 3rd party support, which was what the Wii lacked, and which was its eventual downfall.
Wait until they release the small version of this... then it will be the Wii U S... or Wii Us.... an thus concludes another meeting of the pronoun club
Actually, there are some articles out there from people who have already gotten some hands-on time with the Wii-U who say that the controller is actually much lighter than it looks, and it's comfortable, too. Here's one example: wii.ign.com/articles/117/1173582p1.html
i just watched the Wii U's e3 trailer and i think it's DAMN awsome and i highly believe i will love everything about it much more then i do with just the Wii, BUT with that said, call me old fashion but if what is ment to be hand held isn't able to fit in a normal sized pocket it's just to large and doesn't feel like it belongs in the hands. but on the other hand i will porobably get used to it and learn to love it even though it will probably always bug me a little that it's so freakin giant.
first thing i saw of the Wii U was a picture of the tablet thing (no clue what they call it nor do i really care) is "wow, that looks like a tv with buttons" and no, i was not thinking that in a positive way.
According to the article, this was said about the touch screen on the tablet controller: "The new controller allows for the inventory screen to be active at the same time as the adventure on the main screen"
Now while I am very happy with this new way to display the inventory screen in games that require one (eg. TLoZ, DS2, etc.) I REALLY hope that this touch screen will not be just locked into being an inventory screen for almost all games that have one. So much potential.
This would be so incredible if Nintendo actually got it to work with newer TVs, which in my opinion, shouldn't bee TOO difficult. (After all, look at how many universal TV remotes there are).
ESPECIALLY if they could get the support of major cable companies backing them.
It's innovations like this that will skyrocket Nintendo in this generation of console gaming. The Wii was awesome, but Nintendo learned from their mistakes, and it looks like they are really wanting to go a whole new direction this time.
My favourite factor about this new system is how well it seems to be factoring in Hardcore gamers, as well as the casual gamers.
the thing is though i hope that they will release it properly, unlike the 3DS. i saw the ghost recon online trailer, it looked great. lets hope it brings back all the big game groups, i hope it gets popular and stays popular, unlike the Wii console.
