Wow. If JJ is doing a comic about ME3's ending, then that's confirmed it for me. Bioware fucked something up, and I'm waiting a few months to pick it up then.
You have no idea. I'm just taking this time to laugh at the Mass Effect fans for believing that Bioware was going to make good their grandiose promises.

Well, there wasn't any kind of engine change, and one would think that Bioware had the entire story thought out when they made the first Mass Effect, so I don't see why 2-3 years was impossible. From what I've heard, it seems like Bioware forsook the core RPG elements and instead tried to bring in a wider audience by focusing more on combat. This is evidenced by the new option to view all conversations as cutscenes, which also shows how Bioware wanted the game to play out originally, but player choice interfered with their vision.
