I wasn't that impressed with FF in Reach. It's only good with friends. Playing that with random people suck. Either you time out, or they time out and then you're there by yourself.
Firefight in Reach was pretty bogstandard compared to ODST. Because of things like weaker melee, less health and the scarcity of ammunition/supplies you were made to work together as a team to take down enemies. It was a very cooperative-driven experience and proved to be incredibly rewarding when you were doing well.
Unfortunately, in Reach there's no aspect of teamwork at all. People just horde the power weapons with unlimited ammo along with jetpacks to get above the enemy and rack up the points for credits, you don't even have to care about others because friendly fire isn't on and you can pretty much guarantee that they're going the same thing as you with your rocket launcer/fuel rod and jetpack... Frankly, we all said we wanted to customise our Firefight experience but when given those options... well, I can't find more than a dozen-or-so gametypes that don't say "1,000,000 CREDITS QUICK!" or some shit like that. I think it was better when players were forced into submission by the iron fist of a Chieftain, then you'd take him down and say, "man, that guy was a dick!".
ODST i found more fun anway. Not only the team work thing, but it seemed more of a challange as heavly trained soilder than a super soilder with gizmos (< did i spell that right? Thats the first time iv tried spelling that)
Absolutely. The few times I've managed to get in with a genuine group of team players, it has been bliss. Coordinated Covie annihilation is a beautiful thing to be part of.
That being said.... when I'm with the usual bunch I needz mah rockets trollolololol
I wish they would've given Firefight Versus more of a chance. I felt like that had a fair amount of support, yet we hardly ever saw it as an option. It was fun. The only time ever you could play alongside the Covenant against other people. The one time I played, it was pretty cool.
Okay, I just watched the gameinformer video about Spartan Ops, and while it does sound cool, I never heard anything that said "this will be replacing Firefight" or "there will be no Firefight". Can anyone clear this up for me? I'd be really disappointed if it wasn't in there, and I don't think they'd get rid of this feature that's proven itself to be pretty cool anytime soon. My bet is it'll be part of the Infinity game mode. Help please?
Firefight is gone. I think when people say that Spartan Ops will replace it, they just mean that it will be a way to satisfy people who miss it. Not that it will will be a substitute for it.
343 Industries has stated that no plans exist for Firefight in Halo 4, and that it will be replaced by a mode called "Spartan Ops", in which missions are released weekly, and slowly unfold into a seperate story.
i cannot wait till November 6th, but am going to be very patient. MineCraft for the 360, Hybrid, Skyrim DLC and Borderlands 2 will HOPEFULLY hold me down until then !
