Ya, im the same with Scout. I have it for both Halo 3 and Reach. But its not the same as ODST. Its the one design that has not been changed through out the serise. From Halo 2 to Reach.
"Just watched the new leak. That...does not look good. The AR might have an inherent advantage. If it's supposed to dominate close range, sprint is going to get people into close range a lot quicker than they should be able to. An before people start saying "well you can't judge you haven't played yet," but that's what I just saw, pretty clearly"
Frankies response to this was,
"Hey what was the footage you watched? Finished code from November?"
i mean spartan 4 are supposly better than spartan 2 so "are" spartan 3 and they can't resist fall damage thing spartan 2 can and i said remember reach because of the campaign when six jumps out from the ship where jorge is and he lands on reach without even dying
I'll take the high road and articulate my taking exception to this...
Spartan III's have less physical modifications than Spartan II's, had less thorough training, and less powerful armour. As far as we know, Spartan IV's also have less physical modifications, less thorough training, and less powerful armour.
How, exactly, are these later Spartans better than the 2's?
Also, Noble-6 had a re-entry pack; he didn't just free-fall on to Reach. Jorge didn't fall on Reach, he was slip-spaced into oblivion when the make-shift 'bomb' ripped the Super Carrier into pieces.
3's are not better than 2's. Spartan IIIs are "disposable heroes," basically mass produced Spartans that are inferior to Spartan IIs but in much higher numbers.
Spartan IVs are also not as powerful as Spartan IIs, but have the possibility of being better than IIIs.
That's awesome. They'll be a nice amount of play avatar diversity with custom skins. As long as 343 doesn't do something annoying like charge you $5 for a skin pack.
K, I held off here too but I'll add my 2¢ on the knife
I think it would be a good addition if executed properly. On body hits, it should be like the melee attack from a Brute Shot - a couple hits to kill, but a little more damage than a simple melee. On neck or head hits, it should be a one-hit kill weapon. Make it require and reward skill to be used effectively. From the back.... this should require no explanation.
So what if other FPS games have knives already? If it is a good addition to the sandbox and livens things up, it shouldn't make a difference. If people want to whine about COD having it before, all I have to say is "Simpsons did it."
Halo is not a sandbox. Pistolwhipping someone is a two hit kill and would be much faster than pulling out a knife and slashing/stabbing. If you make it more powerful without making it a one hit kill, it won't even be noticeable. If you make it a one hit kill, you are making a knife as powerful as the sword.
You could make the pistolwhip weaker, make it a 3-hit kill, then make the knife a 2-hit, I can't see the point in doing that, I'm just saying it's an idea
Hate to burst your bubble, but..... what BlackPenguin said
As for the one-hit kill, there are other dynamics to differentiating the effectiveness and usefulness of such weapons in different scenarios. cough... HAMMER?.. cough.... A no-lunge weapon that only kills instantly if directed properly at precise kill-points can hardly be said to be the equal of the energy sword.
I agree, when you're using a sword you can lunge a couple of metres, either in a straight line or up in the air, a knife would be different, you'd have to get in much closer and aim for the head or torso
When I think of sandbox games I think of like minecraft, little big world and trails not halo. Is there any reason for Halo to be considered a sandbox? I guess my definition of a sandbox is the majority of content for the game is user created.
I can understand the confusion, then. That definition of user-created-content and open world environments is widely used, but I don't think that is the meaning the Halo developers have been using. I think they use it in relation to development the way software developers do: just a way to experiment with new things. When referring to gameplay, I associate the term with the set of 'tools' available in gameplay that the diverse experience.
EDIT, YO: Well, there's The Hub in ODST. I loved The Hub and hope that they eventually do something further with that sort of open environment. It was a fun experiment that could use refining with more variety, but I used to spend hours just pounding around different sections of the streets blastin' and relaxin'
My definition of a power weapon is one that you tend not to start out with, something that you can only find 1 of on the map. A weapon that players kill over and try to control, and that can sway the battle
In that respect, I don't see standard abilities (knives/melee) or the DMR/BR to be power weapons.
